I think most of the importers use the same small/fall to bits side markers when complied!
Well thats what i had anyway.. I decided to go the good old typeII comodore VT side repeaters! For the simple fact they are clear and look ight!
They cost me NEW from holden city $45 for the pair.
Things you will need!
Power drill + a 1\8 SHARP drill bit!
Masking tape.
some paint.
texter.
printer paper.
soldering iron.+solder, electrical tape!
asortment of files.
First thing to do is remove the stock crap side markers, just a quick turn should do the trick! cut off the wires , and tie a bit of string around the wire. T save time later.
My dad had his VS ute at home so i took his repeater out to make a template of the hole in his body work.
To make a template i placed a bit of printer paper over the hole and used a blade to cut out the hole!
I added the front so it didnt go in wrong!
Place the paper over the existing hole in your guard, and line up with with a rule, or even your eye! (but use a rule)
Mark out the hole with a texter(i used blue lol) and then remove paper..
Have a good look at the texter and make sure its nice and plumb with the car! Cause once cut , no turning back!
To be safe and to see the shape of the hole i used some masking tape to go around the lines!
This is the FUN part. Grap ya powre drill and a new sharp 1\8 drill but.. I chose to drill out the hole than use a nibbler or other tools that can damage the sourounding paint work!
BE VERY CAREFULL when drilling, use some specks and other safe stuff so you dont get hurt, lol.
Now what ya wanna do is, place the drill bit onto the edge of the masking tape, About half a mm from the edge of the tape. DONT push too hard, you dont want the drill running off the hole mark onto ya paint...
start drilling the holes as close as you can to the one b4 , being sure not to push too hard, it take about 10 min a side.. so take your time..
20 small holes should do it... once the scrap part in the middle falls out from all the holes, get to work with ya flat file,(hand smooth) to file the hole till it is flat on the masking tape!
once all smooth place in ya repeater to be sure it will fit.. if goes in with out a hitch move on to next stage.. If not file more off till goes in.
Grab some paint and a small brush and apply a small run of paint on bare metal,(dont want it to rust) unlike origanal hole
take off masking tape. and use your soldering iron to solder the blinker wires to your new blinker!
Place new blinker in and test the light!
now do the same thing to other side!
end result, better looking blinkers!
