Any One Changed Their Idle Control Valve Rb26dett
Japtastic-UK replied to Japtastic-UK's topic in General Maintenance
There is the least amount of room on the 32 compared to the 33 and 34. I know about the plenum, did it twice, as the first time it didn't seal properley I was using the cometic gaskets, I'd strongly suggest using some loctite copper gasket sealant, if you want to know the exact product I can have a look tomorrow. Havn't bothered with the idle valve yet, got some other stuff to do so I'm just going to leave it to last. -

Rb26dett Carbon Canister Removal

I prefer a cleaner less cluttered looking engine bay as do a lot of people. I respect your view if you want to keep it. The car was also designed to stay at stock boost and not have boost restrictors removed, d-cat's etc etc etc, pointless argument. If you don't want to do it, don't do it, if you do, and many do there is a nice tutorial for you. BTW liking your rebuild thread -

I think you guys do it different over there, a lot of our Skyline's have done over 100,000km + we can fit/remove whatever we want to out cars without hiding or what not, we don't have compliance checks just a basic MOT and you can have the biggest turbo sat under bonnett with electronic gizmo's and catch tanks where ever you want, the police have no power to tell us how we mod our cars. The only thing they get annoyed by is really dark tinited windows -
Thanks for the help chaps, still not sure what to go for, some of the makes we don't have over here, think I've narrowd it down to 2 or 3 now...

I'm after a new one for christmas but she needs to know what to buy, can any one suggest any other brands than snap on, the two that I like from the snap on range are: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P6...amp;dir=catalog and http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P6...amp;dir=catalog Is there any other options? I checked Halfords but even their so called proffesional range is very poor, flimsey looking units.

Has any one done this before, I'm ok on repairing the holes, scratches and scuffs but have never been told the correct way to get rid of all the old paint and preping it ready for the new stuff. Can some one tell me the way or is there a link to a tutorial some where on the net with pics?

R32 Gtr Lumpy Idle Help Needed Please!
Japtastic-UK replied to Japtastic-UK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well still not fixed even with different second hand BOV's, I guess there could be a chance they are faulty as well? Going to look up the test procedure for them. Now the symptoms are that after blipping the throttle the revs then dip to the point of stalling, everything is now as Nissan originaly built it apart from the BOV's venting to atmosphere. I did find some strange metal plates between the BOV's fixing point, can any one shed any light on what is going on here? HELP ME! It's got to be something simple now surely! -

Gutting A Cat On An 93 R33 Gtst
Japtastic-UK replied to dan_ep82's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I did mine a while ago on my old 33, its a bit of a bastard to get all the crap out, took me at least 2 hours, lots of drilling bashing and swearing but it did work, sounded better and spat flames after wards so all worth it if you've got a spare couple of hours, oh and don't forget you might need to borrow one come MOT time. -
Just trying to make sure I'm using this correctly, according to FAST the RB25DET BOV is the same as the R32 GTR, Part Number 14483Y ?

R32 Gtr Lumpy Idle Help Needed Please!
Japtastic-UK replied to Japtastic-UK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Update: After having a good look in that area I realised the pipe leading to the BOV's was blocked as well, meaning every time I let off the gas the air was forced back through the system and stalling the turbo's I know some ppl run like that but I've always been advised against it. So I've plumbed it all back in how it was supposed to be but leaving the BOV's to vent to atmosphere, problem is one or both of them sound wrong/broken, they are blowing and whistling and making wired metallic noises, so I'll try and borrow some to test, hopefully that will cure all my problems, wierdly I did get a 800rpm idle for about 30secs after plumbing it all back in this way! Looks like I'm getting there slowly
