BNR32 Speedo showing exaggerated speed
dave123456789 replied to Jenius's topic in General Maintenance
if you have a spare cluster to test there would be no harm in giving that a go. in my experience though its usually the cable for speedo errors as they don't last forever. unless you have had the cluster in and out heaps and possibly damaged something there but I doubt it. does sound a bit weird it reads so much higher and fairly consistent and stable with its readings though. never had that before. edit: forgot to ask, when it sticks at 170/140 or whatever, have you previously reached that speed, slowed down at the needle has stuck?- 6 replies

BNR32 Speedo showing exaggerated speed

when your doing 70 and its showing 170 does it sit at 170 or is it bouncing all over the place? usually when your speedo starts jumping around its the cable as it can not rotate smoothly, it binds then skips forward and makes the needle skip forward. unsure how the speedo cables on these cars are made but previous fix I have done is just give it a good clean out with brake/carb cleaner and then a bit of lube/oil down it. when your manually turn it you may not be able to feel the bind but that doesn't mean its not there. otherwise just replace it.- 6 replies

Yep I love the look of those wheels. Any idea where he got the centre caps? Are those replicas also? Cheers Haha my bad. Im used to oldschool rwd Toyotas where everything decent is in negative offset.
-
Cheers mate. They are 18x9.5 -15 BBS RS replica wheels. fit good and didn't even need to roll the guards at this height with 265/35 tires. So they are not the real deal but look good. Still trying to work out what color to change the centre bit to, thinking a dark grey or a dark bronze/gold.

Got a picture? A31s are everywhere over here in new Zealand. Make really cheap skidders so usually have a bit of a bad rep with the police but not bad cars.

Hey mate. Still unsure if I am going to take the plunge and crank heaps more power out of it. For now it looks the part, sounds awesome and is quick enough for the streets. Im not planning on tracking this. I did manage to do a 13.108 at 108mph down the 1/4mile with this setup. Few more pounds of boost pressure and I could have probably cracked a 12.

dave123456789 r32 gtr Been meaning to make a thread on this for a while. Story goes like this.. I have been wanting a R32 GTR for as long as I can remember, was always the dream car to have since my younger days when everyone had gtsts and gt4 skylines. I had been saving furiously for a few years trying to have a crack at the property market so had some money sitting idle, the pine for a gtr started to get stronger and stronger then one day I just went for it. I had not long turned 30 so thought of it as a present to myself. After a bit of a hunt this is what I ended up with. Originally wanted a black one or that dark grey they come out in but after seeing white in the flesh I was sold. Also had to be a 1994 model as I wanted the latest one you can get. 1994 Nissan Skyline GTR 82,000ks Tomei type A cams 264 Adjustable cam gears (no name brand and not dialled in yet) Aftermarket fuel pump Mines ECU Straight through exhaust with 1 rear muffler Apexi induction kit Lowering springs on bilstein shocks Cusco 2way LSD Stock turbos at stock boost (10-11psi) N1 side skirts, rear end caps and headlights. Tomei gear knob my lovely lady got me for Christmas as previous one was the only thing I hated about the car So far have only changed the wheels, still working out which route to go with the turbo chargers. I sold my Evo 5 so freed up some extra coins for this. Here's some pictures

Thinking she may keep her standard turbos for a while but who knows, might start a car only fund so it doesn't look like im blowing too much on it. Bob that Vspec 32 looks ace mate. Nice and clean. Don't see many silver GTRs over here. -

Thanks mate. Was on the work computer so alot of stuff doesn't work, just jumped on my phone but you beat me to it. might keep an eye out for a good deal on a second hand setup. Otherwise just bend over, pull some cash out and get it all done properly. -

already have an upgraded fuel pump. also full straight through exhaust from dumps back, so no cat and just a straight through muffler at the rear so should flow well. 3.5 inch. wouldn't different injectors then require aftermarket ecu? can I not get 400hp on the stock injectors? I thought they would be fine and I would have expected the clutch to be fine also. im not planning on launching it everywhere, just some 2nd or 3rd gear squirts up to the speed limit -

would I need any supporting mods to run the power level I am after? 400hp is my goal as its just my weekend car and I like my license also. not a racecar. If I can buy turbos and some second hand dumps and put them on for 3kish that isn't too bad. I know the garrets are better but I don't want to go overkill if I can do it for half the price. I find the car fast enough as it is for the street but I just want a bit more. -

steel wheel upgrade or garret -7s hey guys, new here. want to upgrade my turbo chargers so I can safely run 1bar or a bit more boost. not after crazy hp as its just street driven but may want a bit more later. would guess its at 300 now with tomei cams, cam gears and mines computer and straight through exhaust with 1 rear muffler. currently on 10-11psi. I can get steel wheel stock turbos for reasonably cheap, they are always on sale here or I can get mine rebuilt for not a lot. otherwise its the garret -7 option (which seems to be perfect for what I want which is response) but I would just be putting those turbos in, probably dumps and run 1-1.2bar. which option would be better? obviously I would like to go the cheaper as garrets are double the price of steel wheel upgrades. if I can get 400hp I would be stoked. don't want to have to uprate to much else. I have a pretty large budget but am saving for a property purchase so don't want to throw 10k at this if I can help it. its for a rb26.
