  1. Hey Mick I took the photo for you and explained that the crap they sell to fix them does not work, and wishing it will is for the fairies, Get a second hand one or ebay alloy and be done with it. Asking the same question over and over will not fix it.
  2. And this was the subject as I recall. Not interested in a spitting competition either.
  3. Mine is a RB30/25det neo. In a R33 auto with Z32tt fully manualised auto running R32 Nistune so thanks for the chart but has nothing to do with my setup.
  4. I know you are in pommyland mate but how long do you think it takes to hit 70C over here in the land of Downunder. We don't need those little engine heaters to keep our oil warm overnight like my old man used under his Sunbeam Alpine when we lived in Manchester.
  5. As I said mate i'm quoting Tomei and I put a test light on the vct output and it lit above 1050rpm. If there is 12volts there what other conclusion can I make??
  6. I don't argue with idiots they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
  7. different design sure! Same reason build up of sludge and /or low oil pressure. But hey, past months experience ,if I say its white you will say its black are you 5 years old.
  8. Yes you have, you answered a similar post back in AUGUST 2015 RB25DET VCT Knocking and i quote you "Man, I meant the whole vct unit along with cam gear. I thought it was kind of obvious. Changing just the actual gear part is a bit pointless, it's the actual vct actuator part of the car gear assembly that needs to be changed" So whats your game mate
  9. I have, and they make a nasty knocking noise when they go try googling nissan vct rattle only 14700 hits
  10. Regardless it just doesn't bloody fit so this argument is off subject.

  12. I am quoting Tomei and a standard ECU there was no mention of Nistune in his enquiry. I am using Nistune in mine and using the start point at 1050rpm because the VCT internals lasts longer physically if its actuated when oil pressure is higher, they tend to "bounce" internally at idle
  13. Special animals auto elecs, but the designers of some auto elec systems need a booting and rooting.
  14. check your speed sensor plug is CLEAN and tight and check the body loom wiring for cuts or crushing. The raw signal from the speed sensor is modified by the cluster to run the speedo and odometer. Good luck electrical gremlins are PITA
  15. Yep, it is either full on or off there is no variability . Lots of Bullsh*t floating around about this system, its quite basic.
  16. The solenoid is different and does not work in non neo engines, the vct is different too, as GTS boy said they are specific to neo engines. Neo vct cuts in much earlier, from idle, and is active all revs to 5700rpm for turbo and 5400rpm for n/a wheras earlier RB25 ranges are 1050 - 5700 and 1050 - 5400 respectively
  17. Hey Squid, welcome to SAU, when you build your 26/30 feel free to pm me I have finished my 25/30 neo conversion so ive been through all the dumb things and dispelled some myths from other build threads.
  18. Can't go past Oomph 500ml Degreaser from Bunnings about $5 from memory it dissolves carbon off pistons if left to soak overnight, best allrounder iv'e found.
  19. The shim was from Circlips Australia and was called a P-Shim shim washer http://www.circlips.com.au/content.php?sec=products&sec2=circlips&sec3=shims
  20. Was there oil present on the rear face of the Harmonic Balancer? I have in the past shimmed the seal forward 1mm when removing the engine was not possible. Its fiddly and a bodge but it worked. I got the shim from Blackwoods they have a large range in their catalogue. Oil leaks are a PITA wish you all the luck in the world mate
  21. If there is a substantial groove in the crankshaft it will never seal no matter how many new seals.
  22. Check the vct bolt is tight , what about camshaft seals?? Unfortunately a drip near the gears can throw it everwhere, but I've had an external oil leak from head gasket which didn't spread to the cylinders ( on a BMW not RB25) check the easy stuff first then take the car back to get the head gasket checked There are no seals that can effect their part of the work because you eliminated any chance first by checking the easy stuff
