  1. SAU has been very helpfull to me so I made a donation to the site via paypal about a week and a half ago. ive sent a PM and 2 e-mails to Prank and still no response??? what do i do? Cheers, Sam
  2. Yep, taking it down to workshop on saturday for tests to be done. btw, nice sig SK
  3. Yep, PCV is still intact, both rocker cover breathers go to one inlet on catch-can and the other(catch-can inlet) goes to AFM pipe breather. That sounds like a good idea, ill give it a go and see what happens. Cheers, Sam
  4. thanks mate . its a bit of a setback (in the bank account), but will be worth it in the end. Hows the selling of the S15 & the buying of the R34 going?
  5. not really, not unless i took it up near the redline, then i see a big cloud of smoke in my rearview mirror. greyish coloured smoke too, so thats oil
  6. Im pretty sure the odometer has been wound back on mine too, so it could be anything really. But i know what you are saying, the RB engine has a reputation for being bulletproof. I think the leaning out/detonation would be the most likely scenario, but dont know. I've owned the car for a year, and only covered about 15,000ks in it. Nope, no smoke when idleing, it only seems to blow smoke when taken to about 6KRPM, i see a big puff in my rearview mirror. It was dynoed about a year ago by the previous owner, i havent dynoed it myself yet. Cheers, Sam
  7. bazelines, thanks for your concern . I havent had the tests done yet, so far only my own findings and talking to a workshop. Will be done soon though. Some other factors that lead me to believe the engine is the source of the problem. ive got an oil catch-can that will fill up pretty rapidly when under higher speeds. i only get smoke from the exhaust at high RPM whereas someone i know who has a 180SX with new internals and a stuffed turbo, he gets exhaust smoke from 3500RPM onwards all the time. my car has just ticked over 160,000ks too.
  8. thanks duc, i hope it all goes through without any dramas. I want to keep the car for a few more years, so it will be reassuring to know that my motor shouldnt give me anymore hassles. shaun from boostworxs, is going to do the rebuild.
  9. i was going standard rebuild, but now going forged pistons and all
  10. terminal blow-by problem. so full rebuild coming up soon. just piecing together the money, and it should be done soon.
  11. the oil in the induction pipes is actually from the breather pipe that goes to the rocker cover. so yeah, its a blow-by problem. from what i understand if it was a turbo seal there would be oil all around the wastegate area next to the exhaust wheel there.
  12. i noticed you saw my thread about my oil problems
  13. Not at all. they seemed really unorganised out there, steep prices too.
  14. Yeah, you could get away with just painting front panels in the shed. my suggestion would be to wait until warmer weather (if its possible), this makes a huge difference, and give the area that you are going to paint in a thorough cleanup (as little dust as possible), then hose the floor down with water so as to settle all the dust on the ground
  15. oh wait i just read your post again. you're just painting the front of the car now??
  16. i wouldnt use anything that blows air onto the car, cos anything floating past through the air will get blown onto the paint. but then again im reluctant to paint anything in the shed anymore, well 2K resprays anyway (from prior attempts). It would be difficult to find something that can put about 30 degrees of heat into every panel on the car, better off just to wait until a warm day. I think you can hire spray-booths in adelaide? if you could organise something like that, it would be way better.
  17. whats a jetfighter heater?
  18. i havent seen any serious flooding anywhere yet, just constant rainfall, the sun came out at midday for a bit, then it started raining again, its damn cold here too
  19. Hi there Duc! non-stop rain happening down this way.
  20. Cheers mate, yeah someone noted the excessive cloud of smoke that came out of the exhaust when boosting too, i think it was you?? would have been nice to get away from it without spending too much, but im up for a full engine rebuild now, got a quote, and organising it soon.
  21. I might head down for a look too, i'm on holdays in august anyway . depends on weather my cars engine is all togeather at the time
  22. hehe, until the 'mod bug' kicks in
  23. whoops, thanks for clearing that up guys . I'll have a look at the exhaust wheel.
  24. Hi everyone. Just have a couple of questions. While looking for an oil problem the other day, i noticed my turbo has a steel wheel. Is this factory? the RB T3 turbo comes factory with a ceramic wheel doesn't it? Im guessing that it has been hi-flowed by the previous owners? Thanks people Sam btw, disregard oil in the turbo, its from the breather pipe, my engine is pretty worn.
  25. Thanks guys, looks like i'll be organising a compression test.
