Rob Award gearbox and diff quoted me $2300 for a full rebuild and billet sandwich plate. The sandwich plate is the weak link in the 5 speed GTR boxes. They said it's rare for a box to come back once it's been fitted with the billet plate. I'm not running huge power so figure, do it once, do it right. The box in the car has been going to 12 years and there is noting wrong apart for the input shaft bearing. It still shifts perfect, no crunches. But according to the last rebuild receipt it was upgraded to R33 spec so should have stronger syncros. Where I'm stuck is I need to do the box before it lets go and does more damage but I want to do the clutch as well and all up that's about 6k. Don't have that much to throw at it right now, so might just throw a second hand box in it then have my box rebuilt, buy the clutch then swap it over. -

He said around slow corners, think he has a 1.5 or 2 way diff which is what's probably causing that? -

I'll post a pic tomorrow, it's in the boot, drivers side with the amp mounted to the box, wires run under the carpet on the drivers side, I did the engine bay to interior by following a wire that was fitted by Croydon when they ran a direct line from battery to fuel pump. Goes through the guard to the drivers footwell. Had to remove the wheel and splash guard on the drivers side, gave it a good clean while I was there -

Well spent all day on the GTR today, got the stereo finished, Bluetooth deck with full phone integration, sound stream 12'sub and amp, also has digital radio which is nice. Cleaned up a few little things whilst installing and put in a few interior screws where they were missing. On a downer it appears to have broken an engine mount and as a result the bonnet won't shut [emoji848] So off to mechanic to get it checked out. Also what I thought was a noisy thrust bearing may be input shaft bearing on the box. Called award about a rebuild, thinking of doing full rebuild with billet flex/sandwich plate to strengthen the box. Has anyone on here had the billet plate installed and how has it held up? I want to also throw in a twin plate Nismo clutch but have to see how the budget is, still a lot I want to do [emoji849] -
Steve's R33 LM Limited Upkeep
Old man 32 GTR replied to Steve85's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Haha, yes, I'm in the process of upgrading the stereo in mine. Have you thought about modifying your suspension? I know you've said it's very harsh, it can be somewhat comfortable and still maintain great handling. I'm just trying to find time to start fitting some of the parts I bought. I need to start another thread, I'm helping put together my old GTR to get it back on the road [emoji848] it never ends lol- 129 replies

Good luck Zilla, I was looking for a little while, all I can say is check every forum you can. There is more then just car sales. I also emailed/messaged CRD, Racepace and JEM asking if any customers were thinking of selling. Something will come up, you just have to be persistent. Looking for the right car took over my life, my wife was getting the shits with me and I was on the verge of giving up when I found my car. Right now couldn't be happier, it was well worth the hunt. Just make sure you get the right car for you, don't settle. I also have to say had help from friends and a new friend/member from here, Steve, he helped me a lot through my search gave me slot of information, thank you Steve, I owe you a beer, next year at the GTR festival. Anyway good luck and if you need any help or my opinion on a car, pm me. Cheers

Which should I go with GTX2863, 2530, or 2860-5

[quote I.E 340 -350 awkw on around 22 psi. In theory i should have similar to -9 response with -5 power. I've got this [emoji16] but it's achieved through a 26/30 build with -5 turbos, amazing response and making 360awkw on 22psi. And at roll racing the other night, wasn't much that could hold me through 2nd and third gear -
An r33 GTR that made over 900awkw on Jem's dyno, it was seriously fast

Any members on here go to roll racing? I went to the last one as a spectator and went to this one last night as a support vehicle, but ended up entering and having a few runs... And I have to say, had a ball, great fun and not too hard on the cars, I was rolling up to 50km/h in second gear then planting it at the tree, shifting at 7-7500rpm, car did very well, I was hitting 200-220km/h by the finish line.

Once I had the $$ it was full steam ahead, couldn't stand the empty space in my life and garage [emoji16] I kept a diary of all the cars I enquired/looked at, it's actually quite a long list. But couldn't be happier with my purchase.

VZ Maloo or VZ SS + Supercharger
Old man 32 GTR replied to colourclassic's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hi, I just come out of a V8 and got back into a skyline. I had an E1 Clubsport with a supercharged LS3 making 400rwkw. Can I just say, didnt come close to my GTR in terms of driver satisfaction and enjoyment. I have driven an F6 also, but never owned one but I would say go the F6, (nothing like that turbo rush). Do you intend to track the car at all? The Holden/HSV L series motors are terrible for heatsoke, you would be spending any money you had after purchase temperature control. Don't get me wrong, they are a great car but it's not going to give you the same satisfaction your skyline did. If you want a great street cruiser, go the Holden/HSV. If you want something closer to your skyline go the F6. The Barra motor is a lot of fun on boost but it won't handle anywhere near as good as the skyline. Good luck -
Well, I found a car and brought it home last week. I think it's the best purchase I have ever made, I absolutely love this thing. It's a 1992 R32 GTR which has had a 26/30 conversion and was built with quality parts, the car has been put together exceptionally well and drives like a dream, and to top this off I have almost enough spares to build another car. I have been putting together a list of what I intend to do which is why I started this thread, it's not really a build though more a 'adding my personal touch' to the car. It started today with a thorougher clean, wash and hit with polish, I was going to also wax but I'm not quite happy yet so will add another couple of coats to really smooth off the finish before I wax it. It did though come up a treat and looks magnificent. I'll add my list later in the thread as I'm going to go and stare at it now [emoji16]

Well my build has begun...GTR life Bought a brand new coolant bottle, bonnet cowl and rubber, new clips for the front grill. Also got a new GTR badge for the boot, original GTR key and a nice little Nismo key ring Will start fitting things this weekend, also going to wire in my sub and amp and tune the stereo. I've also changed the steering wheel to my mono 'race' wheel. When I got time I'll post my list of things I have decided to do. Love this car, love driving it, love playing with it,
