  1. Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness. A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done. Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.   2. couple of weeks ago now had a track night at Wanneroo raceway and was super excited but abit apprehensive about the DBW issues, in the meantime i had potted the wiring to the plug as i was informed it can help ensure the TB can live a long and prosperous life and could maybe be the fix to my issues. unfortunately, the night didn't go as planned and the car still had the DBW issues where i had no throttle after either one of the main straights which was extremely frustrating and meant i couldn't put a lap together well at least not one 20 seconds slower than it should so i very sadly packed up and went home. Although pretty confident it's not a wiring issue i was sick to death and pretty embarrassed by the wiring on the car and just wanted to rule it out 100% and ensure i don't have issues with it, I was also pretty keen to give it a go myself and while i wanted to wait until i had my house and some space it needed to be done now. this is an example of the mess of the new mixed with the old that was in place. spent some time planning and tracing all the oem wires and seeing where they go and chopping off everything no longer needed which was great fun and left a nice pile of mess for the bin. ordered all the new wiring, plugs and Raychem needed to complete the new harness and can't wait to dig in and get it done, it won't be no professional concentric twisted motorsport harness but hoping to make it neat light and resistant to all the heat that it could go up against and most importantly reliable.
  3. so finally had an event i was home for that didn't get rained off or otherwise cancelled to be able to actually drive the car, unfortunately was roll racing which isnt my favourite thing ever but had an awesome night with friends and testing the car out. obviously a huge difference in driving experience with the samsonas although still without flat foot upshifts the ratios are so much nicer and actually has boost into the next gear which was not something i always experienced with the stock gearbox. but of course absolutely loving the sound of the sidepipe and for its downfalls of ruining the car in ever other way it does sound awesome at the track. had some weird issues where it would misfire in 2nd but fine in every other gear and at the end of the night at the end of the run would have no throttle until it decided it wanted to work, so will be looking into that before a proper track night coming up in just over a week to really see the changes in the car.   5. how was the install process and what uprights did you go with? was it worth it in your opinion?
  6. so, while bored at work this week was going through some build threads and saw CRSKmD's thread and saw the free cooling improvements in the front end just by trying to direct the air better and thought i wonder how my car looks. basically, it's terrible gaps from every single point and so with some time today decided to start and tackle that. nice and easy one to start filling in the gap at the top between the body and radiator. then while jacking the car up found this fun surprise, never thought i would have to move it as my car isn't exactly stance nation spec but anyway decided to fix that first. so trimmed it back abit applied some primer and used some old rubber hose around all the edges to ensure it wont rub through secured it all down and while putting the fender back on realised the headlight bolt to fender wasn't installed so chucked a new one and now the headlight actually lines up with the body so big win there. sorry for the poor pictures but went for covering up the gap between the intercooler and radiator and it took me longer than i would like to admit. the indicators have always been really saggy and had huge gaps between them so tried to improve that and then cover up the gaps still in place to try and stop the air getting in behind them. some awesome trimming work has been done to fit the massive China intercooler that used to be on the car but ran out of time to fix that up today sadly so plenty more to do
  7. hey mate so i was in a similar position needing something better than oem for track but also wanting it to look the part, i went for APG APG Performance Brakes they are a solid price and i have had no issues with any of the components from them. the rotors and pads can be swapped out for all the usual brands just ensure you are getting the right sizes. i have just a front kit on my car. i would recommend upgrading to a bigger master cylinder as they are a bigger calliper so you can actually notice some increased braking performance

  9. then it was time for tuning being in WA and having the emtron Quang from wanted motorsports where the work and dyno was being done recommended we have emtron remote tune it to best utilise all of the emtrons awesome features like the torque management and how it does all its wizardry, so of course we had some teething issues mostly with the 25+ year old harness that i wanted to use (i know stupid decision) we had a great final result of 620whp at 23 psi unfortunately didn't take a pic of the graph or ask for a print out. the flat shift was working nicely on the dyno but after the first drive realised it wasn't happy when on the road which we believe is just an issue in the numbers i gave to the tuner so that will be updated so i can really bang some gears. but wow after the first drive it is a totally different car (obviously) but i put a lot of it to the ecu, in the throttle control and feel Aswell as how it comes onto boost now and having a nice close ratio box now gives the car an awesome drivng experience. 20231221_141621.mp4 after having some wiring issues due to using the 25+ year old harness i decided it was my turn to become a sparky and removed the harness, removed parts that i wasn't using anymore and rewired some parts that were just failing rewrapped it all in heat protecting sheaving to help keep it all nice and safe and after a few goes finally have it running nicely. then it was final interior install with the bride xero seats and 6 point scroth harness, aswell as some more minor additions in the bay overall very happy with how it all turned out over the past 2 years or so, and now its time for some track action and some nice new sticky rubber 20231206_162606.mp4
  10. so i was having issues with blow by with the new hypertune covers especially compared to the rb26 covers with the baffles due to the hypertune covers having no internal baffling, thankfully PRP came out with a nice smooth cam cover with extensive internal baffling which would hopefully improve the blow by issues i was having at the track so another colour change was in order i had found a 2nd hand titanium exhaust of an r33 on marketplace so i had purchased this but for some reason it just didn't seem to work out on the car so it was time to brainstorm what i wanted to do, someone jokingly suggested a side pipe to me and after watching some skyline/rb side pipe videos Aswell as seeing/hearing Laine Brandis's 32 in Perth and WTAC it was rather stupidly decided i wanted a side pipe, we weighed up how we wanted it to look being to stick out past the body or a twin pipe but c'mon that was just silly i wanted a tame looking side pipe ahahah so after some awesome welding and not much in the way of keeping the noise down its fair to say its loud and i love it not sure my neighbours do but hey track car right? had the driveshaft made up deciding to go with a 2 piece as i had heard of people having issues with a single piece, made to "suit 1000hp" it was nice and chunky and certainly wont be testing the strength of it. the it was time for the really important jobs like relocating the kill switch and installing the emtron keypad along the the ed7 dash with the mako motorsports mount. after checking the bank account i now regrettably decided to try and utilise the stock harness for the emtron and make a seperate harness for the sensors much to the sparkies displeasure but he got there and it was time for the first start, with so much changed and so much done by myself we were all abit nervous but when it fired up i had a huge smile on my face and all felt worth it 20231002_165615.mp4
  11. finally after 3 months or so the box rocked up and while i would not be installing it anytime soon due to an upcoming surgery and 3 months off work it was still an awesome time and had me pumped for the upcoming build process, and while i waited gave me time to research all the other parts i wanted or could convince myself i needed. it was time for a new and updated ecu and retire the old vipec which had served me well, so i purchased an emtron kv8 to give me some nice smooth shift cuts and better utilise some more sensors. but then the time came to install the box, managed to grab an auto box and use the bellhousing off of it and bolt it to the samsonas, was a surprisingly easy install considering its a "universal" box some light love taps needed and we made a custom gearbox mount it all fit up really well to my surprise, part of the update was to remove the silicon joiners which kept giving me grief and install the new plazmaman pro series intercooler and shiny new bosch 72mm DBW TB with some red plazmaclamps for both the hot and cold side to eliminate the blowing off issue and clean up the bay abit, decided to go with 3' piping which was a tight fit but with some great work from the fab guy fits awesome.
  12. so after a while without an update some things have changed, unfortunately the stock rb25 box said no more so after a lot of back and forward decided to just go for it and get a samsonas 6 speed for the car so that kick started the next round of "while im there i may aswell do this". while saving up some more and waiting for the box i decided to make the car look less like a nice street car and into another stupid race car so of course the interior got stripped and painted in QX1 white pearl to match the boot of course, all sound deadener was removed but of course i didnt want to do it the easy way and use dry ice i wanted to use a scraper and a hammer... didnt take long to realise this was a mistake but for some reason i continued with this method but hey we got there in the end. cleaned up all the glue and prepped the surface to be painted in the back yard. it came out honestly better than i expected as im no painter and it was done during a nice rainy period which made it oh so much easier but certainly no professional job, then it was time to install the agi bolt in half cage and a test fit of the new to me bride seat and all in all i was pretty happy with how it all turned out and got me very excited for the samsonas to arrive and start the install.

  16. so slight update on the car, installed a set of hypertune billet cam covers along with a PRP billet diff hat to go with the new Nismo 1.5 way diff. finally sorted my power steering setup with a koyorad oil cooler and a new reservoir to keep everything cool on track. a new IRP short shifter was installed and wow that totally changed the feel of the box and looks very tidy. had an awesome weekend at powercruise recently where the car was flawless but upon a gearbox oil change i found a tooth off an unknown gear so now the plan is to find a dog engagement gear set to install once the box does finally let go. if anyone has any good or bad experiences with gear sets and companies that do them as of late please let me know as i am very stuck rn ahahaha
  17. Its never let in water even when I give her a wash the water never makes it into the boot itself fortunately so I just left all sealants as they were.

So with the last few days off finally decided it was time to paint my boot so im not ashamed of it anymore. decided to go with QX1 white pearl to match the cam covers and its the colour I plan on painting the car one day. Removed all components and started to fix up the surface rust which thankfully there wasn't much of. removed the sound deadening from under wheel well and battery tray to give a decent finish and im a fan of my car being loud so I wasn't going to miss it. The battery tray was painted in wrinkle black and turned out better then I was expecting, the white pearl didn't pop as I was hoping but I finally feel like I can actually look at the boot and not feel like I own a shit box.
  20. As a long time reader I thought I should contribute and share my "build". Had the car for nearly 4 years now and was purchased and has been used as a street car. Now starting to take it to some track days and having tons of fun its starting to turn into more of a track based car. Basic information. Built RB25 with a GTX3582R gen 2 with the lovely T51R mod. Oil cooler, surge tank and a plazmaman plenum have recently been installed in preparation for the track. Front APG BBK with factory calipers and DBA T3 on the rear. Unfortunately still a stock 25 turbo box which is starting to show its age. Basic suspension setup to give a decent allignment for now. Plans for the car. Basically I enjoy working on it and doing stupid stuff most people wouldn't bother with so i want to clean and tidy the car up and hopefully do some more track days and see how long it lasts before copping a yellow sticker really.

  23. Ok i will definitely try that out when i take the head off to put in some valves, springs and retainers. Im a little confused on the usefulness of the head drain after reading through the oil control thread as people seem to lean more towards the inportance of the catch can working well and draining/breathing properly?
