  1. If I knew you were going Harry I'd keep a special lookout for you in the mirror and wave you by
  2. Video from Easter Bathurst run by the same mob, doesn't look too crowded to me.
  3. There are a heap of blokes from the Z car club going who have plenty of track experience, I wouldn't count on getting held up by a slower car in regularity if I was you. If your top speed is 200kph then you will be the one in the way on the straights at least. Anyway the point I was trying to make was that if you want to run Bathurst then this opportunity is likely to be as good as it gets with the Soarer. It's up to you of course, makes no difference to me.
  4. Can't have it both ways Harry, the numbers are needed to keep the entry charges down. Can't see why the Soarer would not be fun there, if not then get something that would be fun, it's your choice. And it's not going to get any easier to drive Bathurst given that motorsport continues to get more expensive and regulated.
  5. Calling Harry, ideal circuit for the Soarer as long as it does not take flight along Conrod
  6. Ripplestrip Motorsport https://www.facebook.com/ripplestripmotorsport/ If anyone wants to be part of the Z Club's group then contact David [email protected] see also http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14646-challenge-bathurst-2016/#entry174753 The idea is to to go through David rather than enter direct to Ripplestrip who are happy to do this.
  7. Sprints and regularity, no mention here that I know of but still. The Z Car Club Q is organising a group of 40 to run together in regularity, it's for those who think that they want to have a go and experience Bathurst but for various reasons will not exceed the set minimum lap time. Most of the participants have track experience so it should be a safe and sensible group on the track. Other than that we will get covered pit bays. If anyone is interested I'll dig out the details.
  8. I hate that show
  9. Double wishbone suspension eh, like the old Holdens used to have up front. You are on a winner there Harry Anyway tyres. MP, depending on which circuit, can be a bit hard on tyres, all those sharp corners. And I have no idea if overheated tyres go off straight away or just can have their life shortened. Must check that out.
  10. lol Yes Harry, instead of waffing around I should have come right out with it and said that the Hankook softs on your unsophisticated heavyweight very likely overheated and so were cactus from then on which was hardly the tyres fault. For me, being tempted to use softs is a bit different to thinking mediums which obviously is the safer option.
  11. If yours were softs then on your heavyweight and in hot weather that's asking a bit much don't you think Harry? I was thinking mediums for mine which is several 100kg lighter, something like 255 rear, 235 front tyres.
  12. Go Pros are way overpriced now I reckon but their mounting accessories etc are great so it seems to make sense to me to get a good knock off to take advantage of that. Go Pro have the name and are cashing in on that. There is no reason why a knock off should not be as good, there is nothing secret about a Go Pro, it's really just another camera. The knock off I got was a mid spec GitUp Git 1 Pro, there is a higher spec one but they both have the same 'catchy' lol GitUp name. Have not used it yet but the accessories it came with look to be good quality.
  13. What about Hankook Z221's, not the two groove ones. Only available in 17 and 18" but three compounds listed. For sprints I'd be tempted to try the softs.
  14. 2015 Jeep Cherokee two litre diesel here, best tow rating of all the mid sized SUV's and apparently better than expected offroad, particulaly the petrol only Trailhawk version. It really does tow a four wheel trailer with 1250kg car on board well, very stable and in sports mode not too bad using cruise control. Nice to drive trailerless, comfortable and not so big that parking or manouvering is ever a problem. The only problem I've had concerns the transmission software which is a Jeep work in progress, a bit annoying sometimes but you get used to it in a fashion around town, works perfectly on the open road. Yep a Grand Cherokee three litre diesel would likely tow a bit better but the compact Cherokee diesel is a great multi tasker and does everything asked of it.
  15. Proper shocks like Bilstein or Koni are worth the money, HSD sounds like the 'put your own brand on them' type but anyway those like the brands mentioned are the real deal, not some Asian pretender.
  16. What's wrong with starting with say 3-4mm aluminium flat and going on from there? Or else there are some US suppliers who advertise universal kits, search 'wing supports' ?
  17. Heard first hand from a bloke who has a Toyota V8 diesel from new, fuel system failed at around 130k, cost him something like 8 to get it fixed. Toyotas are not what they used to be, particularly the diesels.
  18. Phone number is 3354 3204, inspect this easter weekend OK.
  19. This stuff is ex a Jap wrecker, bottom item in the pic is marked 'R33', blue arms are marked 'R33/34'. At present the lot is for sale at a pickup only price of $100.00 total. PM best, I'm at Keperra.
  20. A main wing in aluminium is going to be awfully heavy, I got an ebay one that is a bit small for serious use yet it was too heavy in my opinion.
  21. I ended up getting Alfa Fibreglass to make up a wing element, he has several different profiles available.
  22. Bought a brand new Z32 one from Nissan a couple of years ago. Some were being brought in from the US by individuals at a good price too.
  23. Z32 gearboxes were upgraded a while back, from memory, stronger 5th gear, extra syncros.
  24. Once again it's about suspension compliance, I don't do much kerb hopping but it does not seem to be a problem at all. Maybe I don't go fast enough hehe.
