  1. Any sites/forums around that go into the detail of Classic car targa preparation and upgrades? Interesting point about suspension savman, problem with all the Z punters I know including Jon Siddens is they do not do much with their suspension other than bolt ons. There is also some subtle aero stuff they could do which I'm sure would help.
  2. Sounds like someone needs to build a S30 Z car using the Sports Option (NISMO predecessor) goodies, including 10" wide rear wheels. I can't really see the point in allowing old cars to have modern non factory mods then allow them to pretend to be Classic cars.
  3. It would be interesting to know how so much money can be spent on an old Porker with it still being legal, with a comparable year Z car it would be well under $100K no expense spared. The best placed Z car is a budget build, under $50K there. I guess the consolation is if you hit a tree at speed your life prospects would be a lot better in a later model car.
  4. All the Dattoes beaten by an old Porker driven by a pensioner, dear oh dear
  5. Hamilton's problem with passing is just like Webber's problem with starting, so constant and reoccuring that it is obvious to all I would have thought. And Schumaker has been passed by everyone this season including by a couple of grid girls. Add those two together and it should be clear what the situation was at Monza with H trying to pass S.
  6. OK then, I'll say it. An absolutely dominant performance by Vettel, Red Bull or no Red Bull.
  7. Re rear toe on a plain multilink rear suspension, anyone tried using up to ten mm toe in? I tried ten mm around Lakeside, it feels like you have rear steer and certainly helps around the tighter corners. But I was concerned as to what might happen getting near the limit of adhesion with the outside tyre effectively angled in towards the apex of a corner.
  8. Of all the tracks I've been on Wakefield was the biggest disapointment. Thankyou Lakeside
  9. Rather be the first F1 loser than some keyboard jockey.
  10. What a cool car, compared with most of the gay 'sports/kit cars' around
  11. Good stuff, moar!!!!
  12. Might be an idea to look at how the yanks arrange their 'road course' circuits which are based on a speedway oval. None of this hard barrier nonsense which may be fine for the top drivers but sucks for those of us are less than perfect and have to pay for our own repairs. Bit of a reality check required here, great idea but get it real.
  13. Time attack seems to be a fertile ground for all sorts of innovations and development, particularly in AU where motorsport basically involves either factory sameness or else everyone copying everyone else. Just look at the times being done, even if the old boy Euro orientated network would like to pretend that it's not happening.
  14. It's up to Porsche to what spec they build their cars unless they are in a restricted competition with other makes. Fact is a cheap mass produced car can be built to beat their specialised multi doller race cars, credit where credit is due.
  15. Comparison of some best EC lap times is educational. In one corner we have the local home built MCA Suspension S13 with the cowcatcher front end which did a best of 1:33.06. In the other corner there are the various porker EC lap records - GT3 Cup 1:36.42, Carrera Cup 1:34.20 and GT3997 1:32.55. To really rub it in there is the Scorch Racing S15's 1:31.46 and the Berry R34 with a 1:31.93. Dattos smashing Porsches, they can run but they can't hide
  16. Agree. Mark lost the start to Vettel, I think he is getting a bit desperate.
  17. Bloody hell Harry, lucky nothing was hit. Rear wing or not, that car does not handle well.
  18. Not sure but knowing the owner I'd say ordinary pump petrol. Current Nissan V6's are a good thing, a bit neglected in AU.
  19. Friend of mine is going to sprint a 370Z, stock MoTec managed engine did 375hp on an engine dyno the other day.
  20. Yes, generally speaking anti dive and anti squat are not good for a circuit car because they reduce the sensitivity of the suspension and its reaction to the track surface. Heavier springs than OE on a circuit car usually make both the antis unnecessary anyway.
  21. Datsun 240Z's first and second in the Adelaide Hills classic class, bad crash involving a 911 hitting a tree
  22. Problem with regularity is that CAMS can nominate a minimum lap time and black flag anyone who goes faster, that happened at Bathurst this easter. I don't want to travel from Brisbane just to get black flagged.
  23. Quite a few one end drive road cars go flat out through the kink at over 200kph, R35 should be what 20kph faster. Something to aim for.
  24. Were there sprints? It seems that CAMS is trying to phase sprints out, its either regularity or race eg no sprints at Bathurst.
  25. Haha, so now you admit Webber was the fastest driver that day Harry? Bloody fanbois See facts can be spun as I've already mentioned eg the Red Bull was the fastest car of the day, or, Webber was the fastest driver that day. Same facts, different spin. Some drivers pass better than others surely, just like some drivers are shit starters, which Webber is. Kobayashi is recognised as a good passer, going on his record Webber is too.
