H O L Y C R A P It actually got through! The GT-R is on the road FINALLY!!!!
-
That silver one is Veilside I'm pretty sure, the white ones Uras... Woops you probably mean the name of the Uras and Veilside kits? Don't know that!
-
Haha nice... you're right though, it does seem that we get picked on the most. Good to see someone willing to ruffle a few feathers lol I'm not sure if they'll take my wheels off, but I'm pretty sure checking brake pads and other braking components would be done in all roadworthy inspections. But hey... looks like I won't be using my early morning Tuesday Regency booking anymore, as the workshops taking it through on Tuesday arvo, or Thursday. So if anyone out there is waiting for a booking to get their car through, by all means, Tuesday the 31st, 8 40am. Its all yours.

Is that exhaust control valve the one that has a switch in the cabin that allows you to silence your exhaust? If so... thats cool B)
-
Yeah I knew work would have to be done... shit happens. The main costs were new front rotors and pads - around $500 New brake lines to replace the braided ones - $350ish Replace bushes or some other suspension stuff can't quite remember - $300ish Engineers certificate for the side intrusion bars - $185 The detailing is like cleaning up all oil and grease stains and stuff... Regency can be picky... my mates car didn't go through first time because of 'dirty underbody' and it wasn't caked on mud or anything rediculous. But after it all, it should go through first go. Which is what I really need. I can't believe all the stuff they're changing that Regency pick up on! New wiper blades and spacers under the child restraints etc etc... Oh wells all part of the import-owning game I guess
-
Update - Ouch... after the guys at the compliance shop checked the car over, well, theres a lot to be done. Turns out I have braided brake lines, need to go back to stock. Worn front rotors and pads, need to get new ones, leaky 3rd injector, new wiper blades, full detail inside and out.. the list goes on... *cough* $1800... *cough*

Haha 'Regency love'... Fingers crossed I do pass. I just took the car to a compliance place today I want them to triple check everything and make sure its schmick as, coz I really need the car to pass first time. Otherwise the car I'm driving now will be returned to my sister and I will be car-less. Oh well not long now...

Wow man those gauges definitely look the business. Very nice!
-
Thought these might be of some use to you. I got it from Regency, just outlines what need to be done to the car for compliance. I'm a massive newbie on GT-Rs as well, but I know Keir Wilson at Willall Racing has the fastest non-Japanese GT-R on street radials. So maybe talk to him? But I have also heard good things about Boostworx. I dont think aftermarket front bumper should be a problem, as long as its no lower that 10 cm off the ground at the lowest point. (I think this is the right measurement?) Let me know when your ready to put the car through, and I should be able to lend you my wheels, no worries

15 year compliance is cheaper than SEVS, and can be done at heaps more workshops than SEVS cars. If the GT-R was SEVS it would have to be complied interstate as far as I know as no workshops here have become a RAW for the R32 GT-R yet. I'm not sure if you need the actual factory rims, perhaps just the same size? Someone know about this? Luckily my car came with the factory rims. I'm sure most compliance workshops would keep some stock rims lying around. I got my exhaust swapped over to a stock one by Mark at Exhaust Technology, 253 Goodwood Rd Kings Park. 8272 7500. He's a great bloke can measure how loud your current set-up is, and if its over he can swap it over to a stock system, he keeps them specifically for us guys going through Regency. He'll hold your system til you get through and then swap it back afterwards. Anymore questions I'll be happy to tell you what I can! B)

The car will pretty much have to be returned to stock form to get through Regency. Your BOV will have to come off, source some stock 16" rims, the exhaust would be fine as long as it still has the cat converter, and is below 90dB at 4000rpm. Then all the other things have to be done, like child restraints, fuel filler changed, flat side mirrors (or less than 1.2m curvature if convex), high rear brake light, seat belts should be fine as long as they're not frayed. Theres more things that need to be done, those were just off the top of my head as my GT-R is going through Regency next Tuesday so I've been double checking everything before then. A few of my mates had their cars complied at Best Enterprises, I think theyre around Wingfield way, just off Cavan Rd or something.

Standard Eyebrow Height For R32 Gt-r
slimjim replied to slimjim's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
bump Anyone? -
Thanks mate

Hey guys I've searched but didn't find any answers... Does anyone know the stock standard eyebrow height for an R32 GT-R? (measurment from middle of the wheel to the wheel arch) Wasn't sure whether this should go in the Suspension section, but thought it would get more views in here. Cheers!

Nice! Sounds good. I have to take a day off of work to get there though, my boss wouldn't be too pleased if I spent a whole day and I couldn't get it in. Is it possible to have someone else take the car through for you? Or does the owner have to be present? (Or does anyone have a booking before the 31st that they aren't going to use and I can steal? )
-
Yeah duno, I think all the inspections are the same. I think it's just a roadworthy. I booked mine in a few weeks ago and the 31st was the earliest I could get in! But if you get yours on the same day watch out for a grey 32 GTR might see ya there! He he.
-
Nice. I think I'm all set then. Hope you get your car fixed sooner rather than later mate.
-
I got a booking for Regency on the 31st. I think shes ready to go through. I'm sure they'll ping me for something though. Grrr 20 more days... I dont really know what I get after I go through, I think I'm in the same situation as you, do we get a compliance plate or not? Or a certificate of exemption or something...?
-
Yeah when I rang Regency before I went to the exhaust shop I asked about exhaust legalities. They were you needed a cat, and to be under 90dB. But I'm all sorted now, got a stock zorst on, Exhaust Tech are great guys, first workshop I've been to (haven't been to many) where they actually are nice and take an interest in your car! Got pulled over on my way there as well by an unmarked police bike. I have a certificate to drive an unregistered vehicle but no plates hence why he pulled me over. He said that certificate didnt actually cover me, I still needed to have traders? Said he could have sent me to court but let me go. Was a pretty decent guy actually. I thought traders were only for businesses? I just told the rego office I had an unregistered car with no plates, how can I drive it to get the exhaust fixed, and they gave me the certificate... Nearly got into trouble!

GT-Rs are actually the most powerful of the R32s. The order from least to most powerful is - GTS GTS-t GT-R
-
Yeah. I would've been driving it over 2 weeks ago. Now I have to wait another 4 <_<
-
Yeah. Mine didn't pass because for some stupid reason, it doesn't have a compliance plate anywhere on the car. Just a NSW Modification plate, which isn't worth anything over here. So because of that I have to get a full roadworthy, then I guess I get exemption from a comp. plate or they give me one or something. Either way I just wanna get the damn thing on the road!
-
Yes, 90 dB is quiet, I can't imagine how high the reading on most exhausts out there would be! But I'm a fan of the exhaust that's on the GTR at the moment, not entirely sure of the brand, but has an excellent note, no drone, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't raise too much attention from the cops when it goes back on after Regency (fingers crossed)
-
I got the exhaust tested today and it read 94 decibels at 3800rpm. Exhaust Technology are gonna put a stock system on tomorrow afternoon.
-
OK baffle plate looks like the go then. Should I make one myself or how much would an exhaust shop charge to make one? Any recommended shops?
