fook. i checked mine all my connections ie battery and alternator and mine is gone as well. what a co-incidence that both of ours are shat itself. on another note, i managed to do some spray painting.

i think it has been sitting in the workshop too long and now starting to play up. have you fully charged your battery before coming to the conclusion that its the alternator?

are the rca leads which are coming out of your head unit to + terminal on your battery running down the same side as that of the front speaker wires? If so then run your speaker wires on one side and rca leads on the other side as this is what is causing your car to whine. the whining pitch gets matches your throttles? ie if you rev your car the pitch gets louder?

are you speaker wires and power wires running down the same sides? if so then this is your problem.

im also keen to purchase a diy kit or one put together already.

id go a celica. those round headlight one's. reason being is that my missus has one and its so much better on fuel economy than the 33's. its sporty, fuel efficient and considerably fun to drive.

does anyone know where the starter motor is located exactly on a r33 gtst. ive looked at the sevice manual but cant seem to find in on there.

do you have any of your brother in law's zenith tuning components in your car atm? and if so, what the difference in you opinion it has on handling.

rofl @ the looking so sad comment. mines in the shed with a faulty starter motor i suspect. so im going to sort that out before i drive it again plus it ran out of rego the saturday that went by which co-incidently was also when the car started to play up (bad luck and timing i guess).

id be more than happy to do that. with the previous cruise, thats why i did - went crusing in the hills in the missus celica and worked out what roads were nice and so worth. end result was what we eventually cruised on which everyone seemed to like.
