  1. Now that I think about it I'd say it definitely wasn't me. The car only got back on the road recently after almost 2 years of development. (Only to break a bl()()dy cam wheel, but that's another story.) Tim.
  2. I don't think so. It is a very rare thing for me to drag anyone on the road. I keep my quick driving to the track these days. I won't say it definitely wasn't me but if it was it wouldn't have been very serious. If you want to see how you go against it then come out to the track with me. Did the car sound like a WRX that you remember? My car sounds nothing like one. It seems that everybody in Hobart wants to drag my GTR though. On my way home tonight I had a light truck and a Commodore try to race me. I didn't. Commodores seems to be drawn to it like a magnet. Tim.
  3. I will very probably be in Longford on the afternoon of Sunday the 27th. I'll be in either my white WRX or white GTR. There should be a few other cars there as well. It's a bit of a pilgrimage for us to walk the old track etc. Tim.
  4. Hobart. White R33 GTR V-Spec. Tim.
  5. I've forgotten the complete name now but it's something like Buddy Club racer P1. Tim.
  6. Hi Damien, I've ordered the wheels for the GTR. They're still a few weeks away. I tried an aftermarket computer in it and it was a dismal failure. I won't name the computer because it was given to me on a try and see basis by the manufacturer and was I suppose a bit of a development exercise but it did not adequately control the fuel or the ignition. I think I'll probably put an Autronic in it as the one I have in the WRX seems to be pretty good. Tim.

    Oil temps

I assume you're talking to me. I don't check here all that often because not much happens and I don't really like the format. This message appears to be orphaned. I'm on HJP if you want to find me more readily. The WRX is pretty much finished, just waiting for the Dyno'. Waldo's guess is a bit optimistic. It should run about 650bhp but we'll step up to that. It should be somewhere in the 550bhp area initially. I was going to set up a "road" map with about 400bhp but I don't think I'll bother now. This is all on 98 octane. On C16 or similar we could get more but there's no point really. I'm not a dyno' jockey. I'm only really interested in lap times. The car is a road/circuit car and has to be genuinely driveable and reliable. The gearbox and clutch are great. I am very pleased with the car so far. I can tell you that the oil temp gets to the top mark on the gauge under the 150 mark and still in the "normal" area I suppose but too close to the 150 mark to make me comfortable. I don't really know how hot it is because of the useless gauge and I have done no more thorough testing on it. Perhaps you can tell me what that would equate to. It only takes a couple of laps to get there. I'd be happy if I could do 10 laps at 110c. I'll do something about it one day. I can't think of any 16" wheels at the moment. Tim.
  8. That white R33 GTR was me. Your burgundy R32 is gorgeous. Tim.
  9. I haven't been to the airwalk and it'd be a long time since I've been in that area so I can't help you directly. I have asked someone who's been there who says he thinks it's sealed all the way but isn't 100% sure. I suggest that seeing as that was his response that if it wasn't sealed it must be in pretty good nick. Tim.
  10. My standard R33 GTR has had no problem with any 95 octane fuel I've put in it except for Caltex which has proven time and again to be utter sh!t. I have imported some Optimax for my track car which I occasionally use to fuel the GTR. As for the other question about travelling distances most of them would be an hour or under except the Launceston-Hobart leg which is about 2 hours. All at around the speed limit. It's not far to anywhere here. :-) Tim.
  11. 98 is next to impossible to get. It can be done but in your situation forget it pretty much. A few cans of booster is the best you can do. More pressure is needed on the fuel companies and the Government. The RACT down here is no help, one of their spokesmen has been quoted as saying that high quality fuel isn't needed down here. Tim.
  12. I'm in Hobart and I have an R33 GTR, there are probably 4 or 5 others here (maybe more, I don't drive around the city much). There are quite a few other R33's around. From what I've seen, Skyline owners don't go out of their way to stay in touch with each other down here (although someone did wave at me from an R31 recently). I guess there aren't enough to make it an active community, unlike other groups.
  13. I'm around but I was about to give up on this forum. I've never seen one so quiet. I've been doing a few practice days in my GTR at Baskerville and it desperately needs an oil cooler. Beats me why they don't have one standard. I'll be installing a new ecu shortly and a few other simple things. I'm currently having a lot of difficulty finding wheels to put on it. Any suggestions for decent wheels for a white R33 GTR? Pic's of similar cars with nice wheels would be much appreciated. Tim.

    Track day

Hi all, I went out to Baskerville yesterday to try out the GTR. I discovered that although the car is competent at most things, it desperately needs an oil cooler and a speed cut lifter. Oh well, I guess that's as good a place as any to start. A mate in his R32 GTR was there also, along with a group of friends in other cars. Tim.
  15. Yeah that's the sort of thing, thanks. Tim.
  16. I have the car now. The front bar and lip were damaged in transit. Its a white R33 V-Spec. I'm trying to decide what wheels to put on it at the moment. Any pointers to sites showing R33's with nice wheels would be greatly appreciated. Tim.
  17. I'm in Hobart. The car hasn't arrived here yet. Hopefully it'll arrive this week. I've got the key though. :-) Tim.
  18. Hi all, I'm new to this forum although some may know me from other places/forums. I'm pretty sure I know Mike/Method from elsewhere. I've just bought an R33 GTR V-Spec. I also own a pretty heavily modified WRX (mostly for track work) and a couple of other cars. Tim.
