  1. That 'right car' wouldn't happen to be red and belong to a vic member now would it?
  2. Cool. entire cheap carpet interior. One ugly 'show car'
  3. Andrew (snowman) - not complaining per se, just wondering if I really need the car that much. The g/f has a Honda Euro which is super comfortable and we use that most of the time. I know where you're coming from - I know and accept that my car is always off the road, and treat it like a hobby. I wouldn't have it any other way. I am so confused. Troy - you can buy mine off me LOL two owners, never driven in anger. LOL Andrew (ferni) - yeah I know what you mean - but then I'd rather spend the $$ on making it go around corners / stop as even at 250rwkws the thing is fast enough to still scare me LOL
  4. Hey ferni I thought about that, seeing all the 25K GTRs fully loaded coming in, but then I like to start with stock and mod it myself for what I want. Also it makes me feel yucky that I'd 'cheat' on my GTR haha Just that I reckon in the last 3 cars I've had I've spent / will spend in excess of 15K (definitely on the GTR) just on mods alone... getting old now, and the missus wants more of a commitment, work is ramping up and getting serious. I know I'll get over it, and when I've done all the stuff above I'll love it every single time I drive it - I already do. Another issue is the increased scrutiny from the police - while I'm getting older, I still look about 15 and will get hassled by police. I don't like the prospect of taking the car out on the weekends and having trouble just for responsibly enjoying it. Maybe I should add to the list a new exhaust that isn't 100+ dB.

    Gemballa

From the album: Ronin 09's Gallery

  6. There appears to be an acceptable level of dish. Carry on. PS did anyone ever see the Gemballa at Duttons? We went last year and checked it out - the DISH on the rears was supreme... An acceptable GTR namesake, methinks
  7. Nah, not selling, but just 'questioning my ways / the faith' a bit that's all...
  8. Ohlins is a very well regarded brand. Your problem sounds like a stuffed shocker - it has lost all damping and rebound capabilities and is blowing through it's travel and hitting the bump stops with the shock going straight up into the body. Otherwise you may get away with a blown seal on the shock If it is the shock you will have to get that reconditioned by the sounds of it A rudimentary test to see if it is the shock or suspension arms / components you could jack up that corner grab the wheel and try and push/pull the top of the wheel in, generally shake it and see if anything feels like it is knocking. If you can feel the wheel moving in a plane that is not up and down (along the stroke of normal up-down travel) or in the steering plane, then it may be a stuffed bush or joint. I by no means am any sort of suspension expert but having blown a number of front shocks I can tell when they're not right!
  9. The upper mount is the plate that holds the spring down, and then has the 2 bolts that go into the strut tower. A 'normal' upper mount is basically a disc of metal that is bolted to the shock absorber insert with a rubber bush on either side. A pillow ball mount has a metal bearing between the shock absorber insert and the metal disk. My car has std upper mount as below. Top left corner, gold disc thingy: If you find that it is the pillow ball mounts, you need to find a pair that fit skylines then: *Pull out the strut (so you get the whole thing out like the pic) *Compress the spring (or wind the height adjuster down all the way so the spring is no longer captive or compressed) *Undo the top bolts that hold down the upper mount. *The top mount / pillow ball will then slide off. *Replace the top mount pillow ball with the new one and reverse the process It's a little unclear, but I hope that helps. I may be changing my rear springs soon, if I do I'll take some pics of what I did
  10. Sigh. I've driven it 150kms in the last 5 weeks. The work that needs doing at the moment includes some body work - realigning the front bar and lights because it wasn't repaired properly previously, front CV boots, something clunking in the front suspension (I'm worried that I caned a pot hole with the third set of front shocks in 2000kms and blown a seal again...). I've put a deposit down on a set of wheels (to fit bigger rotors and brakes) and can't afford to pay it out for months. Then brakes (stockers don't cope with 220+ kays at the track). Then a fatter radiator (stocker doesn't like the track much). I want to rebush the entire car as I'm sure 14 years has taken a toll on the bushes, and set up the bars / geometry properly. A new front lip. Don't get me wrong, I love my car to bits, but the dollars are adding up and I guess not driving it (because of the CVs and wanting to preserve the joint with no grease) suddenly it has dawned that the list has alot of dollars for very little use. And because I haven't cracked it open for weeks, I haven't had a chance for it to give me that stupid grin I usually would. Then there is the Aus delivered car thing. Should I return it to stock and sell it? Will I lose the premium I paid for it a year ago? I am losing faith, as they say... help me!
  11. nice... that's an aftermarket front bar too... umm... but it's not a ceffy or a four door sedan
  12. you want to try putting it back in while there is oil draining out?
  13. BD4s HKS retailer in Aust
  14. Ha! as if they are his IP to protect - he's stolen them from somewhere, and taken a mould!
  15. Going to need some pictures Roy... and looks like Troy will be doing some extra body work?
  16. Looks like my next question is then, who can get the part number for this brackety doodah
  17. It's ALIVE!! I want a spin in it
  18. This is true too - I've had some very good cops pull me up. There have been some bad ones too but unfortunately the bad ones tarnish people's perceptions rather more than good ones
  19. 10" is very wide for R32GTR. That's why it is +22. You will notice that a +25-28 will not fit and either rub the inner guard or the struts / suspension arms.
