  1. Car could have been moved around at the auctions/docks/wherever it has been with a fork-lift. Wouldn't be too worried if it is just the lip that has been bent, but if the chassis rail is crushed (it is that fat box section about 1/2 a foot under the car) might pay to get it looked at. I have a slight crush on the left chassis rail, but it is structurally sound. Just get it touched up if there is a bit of rust.
  2. the R33 factory senders/gauges are notoriously inaccurate. My sender cracks it after warming up and will only read about 3 on in the dash. I have a Greddy oil pressure gauge, and it is much more accurate - reads about 5-6 (kgcm-2) when going for it, 1.5 on idle. If you're worried get an aftermarket gauge.
  3. damn that carbon one looks sweet... let me know if you track one down otto
  4. just wet a rag with metho and put in a little elbow grease - doesn't take off any clear coat (like cutting), but gets them damn brown stains off...
  5. i've used Mobil 1 once, and since then Motul 300V twice. Oil pressure stability seems better with the motul 300V - can't remember what the viscosity was with it, but will check tomorrow and edit the post.
  6. is this what you mean? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/at...=&postid=321738 i think it is a top-secret car, looks like it is a replacement boot or some sort of cover - looks kinda weird. Get a stealth wing instead.
  7. B-Man, at the risk of sounding stupid, what is your turbo again? Is it a highflow standard? VG30? and what rwkW were you making before the bang?
  8. Nath, thats some bad s*it. At least everyone is A-OK and no one was injured. There is a time and place for speed, and public roads are not it. I'm not saying i'm some sort of road angel - everyone has days where they sink the clog a bit - but always stay well within your ability. As a young P-plater, i did some really stupid stuff behind the wheel, and it is a miracle that there was never any human injury. Unfortunately, as Dale has said, you can't control what other ppl are doing. We went up to mile high last night (by coincidence, and ran into some of the boys), and the number of ppl flying down and up the mountain was amazing. My mate took my car up the mountain, and at some places he would have been doing a-dollar-twenty. Now i trust him - he has track experience - but what happens when someone doing the same coming down the mountain loses it? You don't even want to think about that sort of stuff, but you have to remember that though you can't control other's behaviour, keeping yourself safe is the most important thing. BTW, if this rambling doesn't make sense, its because i appear to be quite intoxicated at this point... and i have work at 8 tomorrow morning. Hurt-locker here we come! Be safe, ppl
  9. didn't really read the article too clearly, but i don't remember the lightenened flywheel / pulleys... i think it was just a generic exhaust, filter i/c, computer etc etc not so much tricks and stuff that the ppl on this forum would be aware of
  10. nope, just a approx rwkW gain
  11. Unless you post what the conversion is, it will be difficult for anyone to suggest anything. Like what car (yes, we can assume that it is a skyline, but as they say 'assumptions are the mother of all fck ups') engine, transmission etc etc. Additionally, if you actually post the conversion, there is bound to be someone on the forums who has done it - SR20 into R32, RB26DETT into R33 GTSt, RB25 into 180sx, RB25 into silvia. Not to mention stroker RB30s and other monsters... ppl are here to help and will probably save you $$$. But hey, if its classified, thats ok
  12. steve, keep us posted.
  13. I am going down the route of: *3.5" turbo back exhaust (done) *pod with partition and low feed (done) *EBC (coming) *FMIC (coming) *Injectors / Fuel pump / PowerFC (next stage) *Bigger turbo (future) i think that correctly sized is the key with a FMIC. No point going for a massive drag cooler on std turbo, but if you are serious about a bigger turbo and taking tuning a bit further, then it is a worthwhile investment.
  14. MIC33R: doesn't the Trust one annoy the crap outta you? I've got one and it just gets a little... sneezy for my liking. Plus everyone who rides in my car asks "what is that wooshing in your engine? It sounds like a small child..." In terms of filtering, i would assume that all foam ones will not filter as well as the oiled ones, period. The oiled ones will catch more of the small particles and hold them. If you agitate the foam ones the small particles can 'sift' through the filter, and as Roy mentioned his impeller seems a bit worn. Additionally, i would think that the more noise it makes the less restrictive it must be and the more fine particles must be getting through. My last car had a massive K&N on it, and i think it sounded meaner - more of a baritone induction bark. If i wasn't a tight arse and thought any money now should be spent on other go-fast bits, i'd change the Airnx for a K&N.
  15. I have a Greddy plenum coming from Greenline, should be here in the next 2-3 weeks. Additionally this FMIC is going on: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/at...=&postid=484095 with custom piping, retaining the stock throttle body. Last is a Profec B spec II. If anyone has a rwkW difference when just adding a FMIC could they post up the difference; in theory (if) any additional rwkW gain should be attributed to the plenum? The only current mods are a turbo back Trust exhaust, Trust Airnx filter. I'll be posting before and after dynos.
  16. Not sure how much, but he said they're about 3 weeks away. I'll email ARE and see if i can get more pics and details and post them up. I'm waiting for this FMIC to arrive
  17. Here is a pic of ARE's new oil cooler for skylines... what do ppl think? Its a good cooling solution.
  18. Try ARE in QLD - www.are.com.au I'm waiting for a FMIC to arrive from them... mmmm haha i sound like an ARE salesman!!
  19. i believe the the correct line is from the movie "Three Kings" - When asked what the soldiers do for day jobs, it flashes to the redneck guy shooting up a wrecked car in the yard with a shottie - "I don't really have a day job"... hahaha
  20. Both social and full. Even though we're just povo-GTS-t owners i would rather have a go on the track than have it on the street. I think anything around 100 bucks can't break the bank too much.
  21. It's a Soupra-BM-HonBenzDa-Greddy bitch machine! See what happens when you throw too many cars in panel shop blender and set it to 'pulverize'?!?! ugh.
  22. Talk to Richard @ ARE. I'll pop some piccys up when mine comes
  23. hope you all had a good day. I hate working every sunday
  24. interesting, thanks KamikazeR33. learn something new everyday
