Ronin 09 replied to meggala's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
mmm, cefiro! nice ride, meggala! -
Matt from Daalder rang me the other day about where i got the dump; was that for you, McCracken? Sorry to hear about your stuff around, it'll all work out and be sweet. You will notice the difference. I went down the Great ocean road yesterday, and the midrange improvement was awesome. Good luck!

Ok, this is the tint on my car, it is 20% all round. It is well dark enough. PS how do you put the pic in the thread, instead of a link??
-
I had mine done at tint-a-car camberwell; he's happy to do whatever you want - no receipt (but is a good guy and will honour any problems and fix them under good will) it cost me 250. I will take some pics tomorrow and post them.
-
5% is too dark. i had it on my old car and it was actually a strain to see out the windows. You WILL get defected / booked for it, and the insurance companies WILL know. You have been warned. You should get away with 25 all round; thats what i've got now (insant has seen it); it is well dark enough and you can still easily see out at night. If it isn't dark enough, get them to do another layer on the quarter windows.

Yep, mine squeaks too... had a new clutch 2 months ago

Inasnt, know anyone with an EGA?
-
I just had my front discs replaced by DBA slotted rotors, and they tell me that they are 296 x 32... and i have a '95 GTS-t. Are you sure GTS-t discs are too small? I have the old rotors here if you want them; they are in pretty good condition; no wear 'lip' - i can measure them if you want

OK, by what i know, they do the whole noise test and emissions test on the spot, i guess they'd do a look over of your engine bay too. But still, CAN the car pass the emissions test without / with a gutted cat? Does anyone know?
-
Basically started off with a random breath test on doncaster road near westfield. Blew clear, then like 20m down the road another lot were set up - the EPA for random emissions testing. My mate got defected in his brother's 300ZX TT tonight - too low, bald rears and no number plate lights. What interested me more was that he passed the EPA random test. I will check with him tomorrow, but i'm pretty sure that this car has gutted cats... What worries me now is that if i get random EPA tested, will my car pass the emissions test...? It has a 'race cat' but i suppose the question really is - can the car still pass emssions without the cat? Has anyone ever been random checked by the EPA?

Off the topic, but my mate got defected in a 300ZX TT tonight; too low, bald rears and no number plate lights. What interested me more was that he passed the EPA random test 10m down the road after the breath test. They were on doncaster road near westfield. What worries me now is that if i get random EPA tested, will my car pass the emissions test...? Remember it has a 'race cat' (read no cat) but i think my mate has gutted cats... SO in summation, can the car still pass emssions without the cat? EDIT - started a new thread

I thought that it was much more responsive and the top end was definitely stronger. When you get the factory dump off, have a look at where the wastegate dumps to... it is basically a solid bit of metal about 5mm behind the wastegate. Don't get me wrong, while some people say that it is worse with the dump, simple fluid flow theory tells me that the lesser the restriction, the better. I think Benm posted a thread with before/after dump and front pipe dyno figures, i think this is a pretty good indication of an increase. Remember that all i have is a 3" dump / front pipe, a 'race' cat that flares out into a 4" Trust cat back, and a pod filter. I have 174rwkW, which i think is pretty good... Who is doing the exhaust system for you? Nizpro? I'd love to see / hear it when it is done. Below are links to pics of my system.

Defi guages for sale
Ronin 09 replied to TRY8S's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Check your PM, i have cash burning a hole in my pocket! -
I had just the front pipe and cat back for a while, and my boost moved up about 2 psi everywhere; peaked at like 9.9 or so... Any of the options above sound good, you can't really go wrong for 385 fitted stainless. you'll be really happy with any of these choices.

Another Imports Cruise or Skylines Only Cruise???
Ronin 09 replied to MzDfectd's topic in Archived Events
Any updates on when this cruise is happening? -
I've got a JMS dump, it is pretty sweet and is a direct replacement for the stocker - don't have to rotate the front pipe like the arrow diffs ones... but if you are having a front pipe made up it doesn't make a difference. Also, Daalder Exhaust in Box Hill have some dumps for R33s coming from overseas - ring them and ask them how long and how much - talk to matthew. They also have sweet sweet Pacemaker coated front pipes for like 220 fitted.
-
Yep, superglue remover. I would guess its available at coles, kmart or i can almost guarantee at big hardware stores.
-
Denham, got my car tested at Daalder Box Hill (one of the EPA listed testing stations) and it copped a 101dB reading... Hope you got the airbox back today, you should be right for tuesday!

1 piece Dump front pipe, to buy or not?
Ronin 09 replied to r32mspec's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i have a Trust cat back + front pipe and the peak boost is about 9.8psi; but when the boost kicks up at 4K it is pretty much always more than 9psi. I've just had a seperate wastegate dump fitted (today) and want to get on the dyno again to see what (if any) difference it made. -
New Daikin Clutch Fitted Today
Ronin 09 replied to benm's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Jay: It should hold about 220 rwkW, and it is only marginally heavier than the stocker. If you are running as a streeter, with only infrequent visits to the drags etc i think it is a good solution. BATMBL, a 9 puck or button clutch has sections on the friction surface cut out (see how the clutch benm posted above is complete all the way around?) This is to aid the instantaneous take up of the clutch, and it will hold on better - more force on smaller area. These clutches are a pain to use in everyday traffic. They are basically like a switch; in or out, no 'slipping' to aid you in slow take offs. If you are running high HP and can afford to, i would go for a twin plate instead; they hold on well and should be easier to drive in traffic etc. -
perfectrun.com.au have the greddy double A pillar holders for $144 plus shipping... the cheapest i've found so far.

New Daikin Clutch Fitted Today
Ronin 09 replied to benm's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Benm, that clutch looks shagged. I've got an Exedy and yes, it will 'give' a little after a few weeks. You'll also find you'll get used to it too; i stalled it the second i tried to move it from the mechanics. The bite-point is just so low, but trust me it is easy in traffic and you can ride it too... You will be happy with it; it holds on like a bastard when you're going at it - you'll love it then. And BTW, you got a good price for it -
Cheers!
