  2. LOOK AT ME I HAS HANDGRENADE!! Oh it blew my face off.
  3. forged are 'cast' under pressure which improves grain alignment and therefore strength. Therefore you need less material for the same overall strength, so it is lighter... forging is different to machined "billet" is generally used to describe machined wheel pieces, eg 3 piece rim centres may be from billet, ie start with a block of aluminium, use mills to machine to the desired shape.
  4. they're some FAT fuel lines... and fuel pump leads!!
  5. good find. interesting. now taking bets on how long this show actually lasts?

  13. chris - good stuff putting up the regs from Vicroads. Not directed at the thread starter particulary, but clearly people using this forum can drive the internet. Why then, instead of checking legislation & VicRoads sites do we think it's better to get hear say and "my cousin's friend got defected for it" with no legal substantiation? It makes no sense. Just a suggestion for the future - check legislation and VicRoads first. cheers
  14. why would you idle for 5 mins? The motor, if under normal mild load, will warm up faster. if you idle for 5 mins, the gearbox oil, diff oil, all bearings etc are still stone cold. so you think after 5 mins it's good to go? the engine maybe, but everything else is still stone cold. best to start up, drive normally after 30s and let it all come up to temperature
  15. who's not running a cat converter....
  16. In the most basic terms: people are saying to use soft/stock rear suspension because of weight shift. If the back is soft, as you launch, the weight shifts backward onto the rear wheels. More weight, more traction, more grip, better launch. If you have 12kg rear springs of a circuit car, then there is no large rearward weight shift, less traction, less grip, wheelspin hell. think about it.
  17. i would prefer the varex is in the middle muffler. the varex on the end is visible and EPA might not like that... oh and 3.5" with big mufflers and all i hear on the freeway is the bloody RE55s... outside the car is a nice note still though.
  18. al, off topic but your engine bay and attention to detail are second to none! well done mate
  19. generally inline 6s are cantered over to one side to allow better clearance and lower COG. just FYI Straight six is "simpler" too in that you don't need two sets of heads, etc (let's disregard VW's 15deg V6 for the timebeing as it's a cheater broken straight six anyway... lol)
  20. the best story i heard was last weekend my g/f's mate's husband is working down at frankston. he pulls over a "drunk fat mole with no pants on" hahahah nasty.
  21. if i didn't have to go bigger diameter for my brakes I would have kept the 32gtr wheels... they look tough and a good width for a 16" rim. the next favourite i have is the 34gtr wheels... which are now on my 32
  22. you can't sell these they are too hot. solution - buy another gtst
  23. dynos read tractive force, not Nm. if that car makes 1173Nm a hyundai excel makes 300Nm... nice car though
