I work for a company called Zoom Motorsport here in the uk, i've been working my ass off for the last year saving my money to build the RB24DET up, he took me in the office and as a bonus or advert whatever agreed to give me what ever i wanted to complete the engine. we have a custom paint shop, dyno pack rolling road, full engine build shop ect ect, so keeping the car running wouldn't be a problem to be honest. Now i drove a RB24DET in a R32 that was running 420bhp and it was amazing, it was on a TD06-20G and it was scary. Also i've had a skyline lump in one of my s13 before, the thing i forgot to say was the car has been fitted with a new tunnel to move the engine back into the bulk head to move it behind the front axle line, this is how i've been able to have a Vmount set up. I could go SR20DET as i have two bent cam motors at the shop, but thats borring tbh, The RB24DET is where i want to go, also i defo said a few things wrong in my excitment above, i want the engine to be built so it could run that type of power, but i wish to run at about 400bhp, maybe less for responce. 350bhp with responce would be ace. Hence why i ask what spec do you think i need to make it. SK your defo right witht what you said i know very well what you said make perfect sence. Ok, i've got a TD06-20G just sitting here, would that be a good turbo for what i want? My aim is to make an engine that car rev all day long. -

BTW i don't want to build a lag monster, it has to be responsive too as it will be a drift car. So what kind of spec would you build it too, with what turbo? -

Just thought, what will the R32 boxes take power wise? what about R33 boxes? if they don't take the power what gearsets can i get? -

Note this also has to pay for parts like custom intake to clear my bonnet of my S13.5, so thats going to be cost ontop of. There are loads of bits that have to be also added onto the cost like oil cooler, rad ect, so don't just see it as all the money inside the engine ect, it has to make the whole unit, the lot in one go. -
on a RB24DET, what spec would you make it I started my conversion a while back, but now i've got a sponcer for my drifting i can finaly build my engine up, i've been given a budget of £15k English pounds to blow on my motor. this has got to include the RB24 conversion it self from Tomei, Ecu + all electronics, gearbox from R33, and clutch ect also turbocharger and chargecooler. sounds alot but would just build the engine that i have planned. what kind of spec could i get for this, i worked out i could have every bit Tomei sell for the engine, plus a set of Tomei rods for RB26DETT, new crank from Abbey motorsport near me and Power fc + AVCR boost controller. I want 500bhp at the hubs. and no, i don't want to buy a RB25/26...i want to see how far the RB20DET can be pushed. Clarkey.

Advice on Turbo selection RB20DET, Drift.
superclarkey replied to superclarkey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sorry to bring this thread up again, but i'm going to go ahead and order a GT3071R. as its far cheaper then a HKS2835 ect The only thing i'm not sure on is what a/r i should go for? .64 or .84, everyone seems to have another anwser :S I want 400bhp, or a bit lower with good responce. -
OK first off sorry about 3 posts in a row, you should be replying bitches lol I've just sent the order form off too TOMEI for the parts  I was saving this money for a holiday you know guys, lol Tomei bit: 82mm Pistons for RB24DET 1.8mm head gasket 83.5mm ø valve springs (soild type) Soild lifters + adjuster shims Timing belt PROCAMs + pulleys (solid type) £2500 spent at 3am in the morning, i'm going to wake up tomorrow and this will all just be a dream i hope. Tis going to be a beast P/s i need to know, does the GTR oil pump fit the RB20? is it a good upgrade if so? also water pump?

BTW wanted to ask, i was thinking about it today if i change the storke of my engine does it change the compression ratio?? why yes it does. Stock Bore and strok is 78mm x 69.7mm and the new bore and stroke is 82mm X 73.7mm. THe stock compression ratio is 8.5:1 Anyone fancy working out the new CR, i bet other people don't bother with this but i bet its going to be easly in the mid 9:1's
-
Well i'm not going to buy a massively expensive clutch to have to change it for another box So i'm going to have to sell the GTs box and get a GTSR33 box, could someone tell me do they fit the same?
-
Basicly i've learnt how slow things go when you've got such big plans on the build, its taking ages to get parts, don't helping being in uk What will the gearbox's take?? I could do with something that can take 400bhp clutch kicks
-
Ops edited the post above and deleted it by mistake, lol it is 4:38am lol Yes, i will defo keep you in mind mate it wouldn't cost a great deal anyways as they are light as anything. Ta, i might try and go to sleep and stop worring clarkey

**bangs head up wall** thanx for the kind offer dude Its so hard to get parts for the RB20's over in the uk, totaly sucks. I'm just glad i didn't send the head of before i made this error, one thing is scraping a head, scraping a ported and polished head is just stupid I may send the head off to Abbey Motorsport (uk) tomorrow and see if they can't do something with it. If it costs me £500 it would be cheaper then getting a second hand head.

gutted, i paid alot of money for this 32k mile engine can't belive this has happend :'( Could i not get some caps off another engine and get them line bored too the rest of them?
-
anyone?

on my RB20DET as I was removing a few of the camshaft caps and the bolts were very tight in the cap, i.e. I couldn't pull them out, so I had to try and remove them so I could clean the shank up other wise torque settings would have been very wrong :wack: (so it was not the tread that was tight, but the shank welded to the inside of the cap) I soaked the bolts for about 5 days with wd40 and tried heat and everything, i was told to just undo them and they should be fine, well there are not fine the caps are twised  so you have idea of how tight they were griping. I had to pull the bolts out from the caps with a hydralic puller, they were stuck solid, i don't know how i undid them in the first place :chairshot Is this common problem? I had to really go at them to remove the caps, and its damaged the caps only, can these be replaced? i've been told that that i can't and the engine is scrap  how do i go about replacing them, there is 4 caps on the inlet cam thats gone I'm so hoping that the head is not scrap. do i need to have them bored to fit to my head?? can new caps be bought from nissan? Any help appreciated

i would also have no problems normaly, but its the s15 front end thats the problem

@roy Also dude, i can't stress this enough i'm aiming for more power but will happly drop 150bhp if i get massive responce difference ect I would be happy with 300rwBHP (220-230rwkws) -

Yeah sounds good dude, only problem i've already got the manifold  i hope its to your liking as its to mine Just fitted it as it only arrived from japan yesterday morning  HKS Cast T3 flanged external wastegated exhust manifold I'm going to have to look into the HKS GT2835 as it pops up alot, is it the same spec then (or near) as the GT3071R from garret? -
I understand were you coming from SK, and i've had this on my mind from the begining but this is something i really want to do, i had a go in a S13 with a RB25DET conversion and it really did make the front end planted at high speeds (noramly understeer) so i'm more then happy with how it will feel at the end of all this. The engine is very low tbh, i've had to make a new sump for it as i've retained the stock RS13 crossmember and made very low brakets ect, but its just that bloody intake being so high. My options were my CA18DET tunned up, or RB20DET tuned up, i hate the bent cam so it was close call between the two. you do get feed up of changing the bottom ends on the CA :wack:
