1996 R33 Gtr Nismo Blue $32000
EVL R33 replied to nissky's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
That isn't Nismo blue, that colour is a standard R33 colour, my old GTSt was that colour (BN6) and I have seen a heap of GTR's with it too. GTR700 is the same colour. Still for that price it is an awesome deal.. Brett -
Do Power Fc Knock sensors work ?
EVL R33 replied to jezzrrr's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Jezzrr, ***Edit: Just realised you don't have H/Cs in your cars... OOPS*** When your H/C is in monitor mode, pressing the up or down arrow (cant remember which) will show peak figures for all values shown. pressing the opposite one takes the peak away. Pressing the right arrow when the peak value is showing will reset the peak to 0 and starts again. Pressing the left arrow freezes the current reading on the screen so you don't have to have the peak showing.... Also did you know that if you press 'next' when in monitor mode you get a cool line graph for whatever values you have set in the monitor mode? IE if you are monitoring 4 things, you get a line graph with 4 lines doing their own thing. Boost is good to use this with as you can see how well it holds peak boost and pick up any spikes etc... Hope this helps Brett -
are you building your gtr for looks or performance
EVL R33 replied to wreckedhead's topic in New South Wales
Wreckhead, my point exactly, I've only seen them on your car and mine, but to say they are extremely rare is a bit overstated I think.... Personal opinion regarding whether they are show or not I guess, but the deep dish does look horny I think... Just to make sure, these are the same ones you had right?? -

EVL R33 replied to wreckedhead's topic in New South Wales
Wreckhead, what happened to the Impuls that where on the car when it was in HPI?? I've got the exact same rims and had a laugh when the article talked about 'these are very rare rims, you wouldn't find another set in australia' or something similar... ha ha Did they come with the car and you didn't like them? Cheers Brett -
reason for getting a vspec gtr?
EVL R33 replied to noise's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
R32 Vspecs came with the extra lip and brembos, but all R33 and R34 Gtr's have brembo's as standard.. If I ever sell mine and upgrade I'll be looking at the for sale section before looking at an importer. Some great bargains going around the place.... -

Different rear lights on 98 gtr? Pls explain.
EVL R33 replied to N/A®'s topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Merli, My 95 GTR has the painted SKYLINE panel, my understanding is that all GTRS have the painted panel and series I gtst's had the clear with series II changing to painted. I've personally never seen a GTR with the clear panel, but I guess someone could change them easy as.... Cheers Brett -
Ben, I didn't mean anything nasty by the post, it was more a poke at how many midnight purple GTR's we have on the forums... For a supposedly 'rare' colour there are a lot of them around the place!!!! ha ha ha It is a factory colour for R33 GTR's, though they did release an anniversary edition GTS25t in the same colour. And R34's have Midnight Purple II and III in their colour range. Getting back to the point of your thread, I'd suggest going to a couple of SAU cruises and picking peoples brains about what mods worked the best etc. You might even score a ride or three in a couple of 500+hp GTR's to get an idea of just how much fun they are.. Cheers Brett
-
Ben, Considering that 3 out of the first 4 responses you got were from guys with Midnight Purple R33 GTR's I think that says a lot about how rare the colour is.. There would be at least another 3 or 4 R33's that colour on the forums, and I would say over 50% of R33 GTR's I see in mags owned in aust. are midnight purple!!!!! ha ha ha

I'm not sure what would happen if you dropped the front drive shafts and left the fuse in, I'd guess that it wouldn't like it very much. Maybe ask one of the tuners on here or SydneyKid for a definate answer. I would suggest you try drifting the gtr first before worrying about changing it. Plenty of 32 owners have been caught out with the amount of drift the 32 allows before the attessa kicks in... cheers Brett

Ben, Depending on the condition of the motor you can run 500hp at the fly all day on stock internals with a good tune. Once you start heading towards 600hp it's rebuild time sooner rather than later which will add around 10k to your bill... I'm running 2530's, bigger cooler, PFC, 700cc injectors, Z32afm's, twin plate clutch etc and have around 420hp at all 4 wheels on 1.3bar.. You do get used to the power but it is still a seriously fast street car at that level. The 2530's boost up pretty much the same speed as the stockies, but midrange and top end is WAYYYYYY better... To answer your question regarding money spent v's gains, the first few thousand you spend will net you the biggest jump in power, Ie exhaust, boost, turbs etc.. After that you start spending more on reliability and safeguards (ie bigger injectors, fuel pump etc).. These will allow you to run more boost to get more power but the gains won't be as great as the first couple I mentioned. If you intend to mod the gtr and run it on 98 octane then some sort of aftermarket management will be required... Lots of different choices, I'd go for one that a local tuner you trust has experience with.. In the end, 500hp is not hard to get out of a gtr with minimal bolt on mods and will be very lively to drive on the street and around a track.. You'd be looking at mid 11's on the strip with around that power too.... Cheers Brett

Another point to remember when putting a 32GTR into RWD by pulling the fuse is that it also disables the ABS..... Brett

I'm pretty sure we have sunday racing at the plex this time of year, but getting a good fine day is a bit of a problem at the moment. I'm very impressed with that time too Jezzz, gives me some hope for a decent time when I finally get mine down there... Just need to learn how to drag it without missing a gear!!!! ha ha ha

R33 GTR wanders everywhere..
EVL R33 replied to dairyboy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Tramlining seems a fairly standard problem with GTR's, mine does it a bit with 245's all round... Gojira, my gtr does the same thing you are talking about, driven hard near the top of 3rd or 4th the car will squirm once then track straight again. I'm thinking it's maybe the hicas as it's a weird feeling and only does it under heavy power, ie if I'm doing 120kph cruising no probs, but if I nail it in 3rd doing say 90 it'll squirm... Weird.. might have to by a hicas lock kit to see if it fixes it.. Brett -
Merli, Not yet, have not had the car 100% since PAS when it got the 421hp. But now with new twin plate clutch, fixing the knock problems and a new front cv I hope to get down to the plex when racing starts again.. Though I have no illusions to my crappy driving abilities, I'd hope to get into the 11's with that power figure...
-
Djr, Unless you can exchange your box for a second hand one I'd look at rebuilding yours.. otherwise you end up with a spare box that no one will want as it's broken.. How much power do you have / intend to have? Might be worth getting a cross set for your box from OS or something similar.. Having said that there is a guy selling gtr boxes for like 1k in the for sale section.. Brett

Iwells, Where did ya get the multi function display from? And does everything work the same as if it were in a 34? Ie 'g' sensors etc?? Cheers Brett

Anyone Using HKS2510's on there GTR ?
EVL R33 replied to R32-GTS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Simon, I seem to remeber a couple of guys over east running these with power levels not much lower than 2530's... Remember they are only rated 20hp each lower than 30's so that's still 600hp turbos..... Try gtr.co.uk as I'm sure some ofthe guys over there are running 2510's and are very happy with them... Cheers Brett -
Geoff, as you probably already know there are a couple of different versions of PFC and H/c's and you can't mix them up. If you are buying direct from japan or interstate tell them your pfc model number so they can send the right one. If it's local plug it in and see before handing over the cash. If it's the wrong one the APEXI logo stays up permanently... Where abouts are you? If in WA you can plug my H/C in and see if it works, then use the model number to order. CHeers Brett

Hey all, I know there is a suspension section for stuff like this but this gets WAYYYY more people looking in it.... Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone on here is using the Tein Super Street Damper coilovers and what they think of them? Also if anyone is using the EDFC (Electronic Damper Force Controller) system with these or any other Tein coilovers? Any info will be great Cheers Brett
