My R34 Gtr Front End Stagea Build Thread
darrinspencer replied to darrinspencer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Funny, I had all of those pics already Here is some more in bayside blue Hey Myles, how did Blitz go with the roof rails? Mine are faded and will be hard to make them look new again as they plastic/rubber coated, plus they weigh heaps. I reckon they would be close to 20kgs for the pair. No wonder stagea's weigh so much -
My R34 Gtr Front End Stagea Build Thread
darrinspencer replied to darrinspencer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
It will be finished this time. I am tring to track down the "real" garrett gt3076R .82 IW without paying someones over inflated prices. I prefer not to go the smaller custom nissan rear housings I am really stuck on what colour to paint it. I need to decide by next week. I am keen on Ford FG breeze. Just can not convince the missus, not that I normally listen to her. I was suppose to stop building cars or else, but have done 3 since that comment was made Was thinking bayside blue at first, but keen to pick something different. Suggestions?????? -
I have finally put the house reno's in second place and decided to finish the Stagea. I imported the my silver C34 series 2 auto from Japan just over 2 1/2 years ago and since then it has only travelled approx 2000k's. Once I had the car compliance and registered, I drove it for only one day and that night I pulled it apart to start the front end conversion. At the time I was not ready to start the front end conversion, but I had a buyer in urgent need for my old front end to repair his car (alexcim). At the time of starting the front end conversion, it had only been done once before in Oz. The first person who was an importer in Brisbane was a total arse and did no want to help me at all, even thuo he had moulds for the Masa Motorsports conversion front guards. Instead, he want to sell me a set of miss matched body kit moulds for $6500 so I could make my own. I told him thanks for nothing. I ended up ordering a set of genuine Masa Motorsports front guards and had them shipped over. In the mean time, I sourced a genuine r34 GTR bonnet, complete front bar and head lights along with radiator support, reo, hinges and bonnet catch which completed the full kit. I wanted the front end conversion to look as factory as possible so when the bonnet was open it would be hard to tell it was not meant to be. To achieve this the stagea radiator support is the wrong shape to suit the r34 swept back head lights. so I removed the stagea radiator support and made the R34 support fit. To do this, the inner guards/skirt behind the headlights had to be shortened approx 15-20mm. Once evry thing lined up it was welded into place and I gave the engine bay a quick respray. The was car then reasembled and driven with the front end not painted for a few hundred cars before the next round of mods began. The next mods to be fitted was a full exhaust, a set of Teins, R34 GTT front and rear brakes, FMIC, MOMO s/wheel, Ganador mirrors, R34 GTR wheels, Garage Impul front seats. manual gearbox conversion, apexi turbo, power Fc, a set of poncams, z32, injectors and a tune. So after approx 18 months of owning the stagea on the road and only driven approx 1500ks with all the mods to date mods done and still not painted I decided to sell off the what parts I could and get ready to paint the car the factory silver and sell it. A fair few of the parts sold quickly and with the engine back to near stock, still has the apexi turbo on it and exhaust, I sat for another 6 months. Which now brings us to today. I have decided to rebuild the car the way it was supposed to be and keep it. I have started a new shopping list. Last few weeks I have got a new rear bar and side skirts as my original Dolphin kit did really suit the R34 front, so I have decided to fit a copy Masa motorport rear bar and skirts. Another set of ganador mirrors and 480cc nismo injectors, momo steering wheel. Currently looking at a new bigger turbo, probably a full garrett Gt3076R IW 525hp should see around 280-300rwkw. I need to replaced to factory ecu, this time not wasting money on a full replacement, going to get a Nistune board upgrade. Have plans for a new interior. A few idea's but will keep it under wraps for now. So instead of just repainting the front end, I have decided to repaint the whole car. Have not decided on a new colour yet, any suggestions would help. The last 4 weeks I have started to strip the car and fit the new body kit. All I can say chinese copy body kits are absolute crap! Check out the pics of the rear bar. I have put over 20 hours in making it fit by cutting it into 3 bits as it was too short. To get it sit right without any stress, it had to be lengthened approx 20-30mm in places. The side skirts were also cut and lengthened approx 7-8mm. With a few late nights keeping the neigbours awake with the sound of a sander, I buzzed the shell down ready for undercoat. Today the undercost went on. The next step is rust repairs to the front doors, get a couple of old rear spoiler holes to the rear hatch weled up as the car has a autech rear wing which uses different mounting points. If everything goes to plan it should all be ready for colour in 3-4 weeks. The outside will be done professional in a booth for a perfect job. Attached are some pic's of the car as it started and its progress along the way. Hope you enjoy and a I will update pic's as soon as there is more progress. The car needs to be completely finished for Aug 29-30 Qld Jamboree 09. I won best coupe there in 1994 with my Ta22 celica (it had 106rwhp!!) and hopefully the stagea will go well for best wagon this year.

Series 1 stagea's there are 3 different wiring pinouts/ecu's. I have a series 2 stagea with the neo rb25 and did use a power fc for a while with no problems except for the engine check light which comes on due to no traction control on awd stagea's. I am a bit unclear to what car/engine combo you have? Is it a stock R34 with the original neo engine, or have you fitted a series 1 stagea engine to it?

Try this Use the series R33 install Iused this on my series stagea and worked fine http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fi...;hl=z32+install

Looking at buying either a garrett Gt3071R IW or a GT3076R .82 IW with the genuine garrett rear housing (not the factory RB housing) to suit a Rb25det A bit of searching shows I need a spacer plate, custom dump and oil and water lines. So I have a few questions 1. What thickness spacer plate and bolt lengths. Is there only one size available 2. Can I use my current bell mouth dump pipe and cut the Rb flange off and make it fit the new 5 bolt garrett flange. Is the bell mouth big enough? 3. What will be needed for the intake side of the turbo. Compressor oulet elbow size 63mm? Will the stock intake suction pipe fit? 4. What length oil and water lines. 5. Anything else?

Part Number Needed For Front Windscreen Mould
darrinspencer replied to darrinspencer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
That is half true. The trim setup is the same as the R33's. When I painted my R33 I left the front and rear screens in, removed the mould and left the retainer. Once painted I had the 1/4 windows refitted by a windscreen mob and they fitted a generic T shape strip form a commadore for $20 each. it looked different the factory one, but did the same job. From memory, to replace the front and rear moulds and retainers was going to cost approx $650 for the R33. I can't mask up the trims as that looks really doggy plus it is getting a full colour change so colour needs to continue under the trim I will get the windscreen mob out this week to remove the 1/4 windows and see what they can offer or do. -
Garrett Gt3540 Vs Apexi Ax53b70 P25
darrinspencer replied to R34_Wong's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have the Apexi on my neo rb25det Stagea It made 250awd hp at 15psi with type B poncams on a very same tune. It will be coming off in 8-10 weeks to make way for a Gt3076 Pm if interested. Done 22000k's, very responsive Rated at 380PS -
I need the part number for for front windscreen mould. Rang nissan but the guy was not sure if it was the correct one. Quoted $329 Need to check price before I rip out the old one to paint my car. If too expensive, I have might use an aftermarket one for $20. Actually while you are at it, can you provide the the rear hatch mould as well. It is in better condition and may be able to be reused. Waits for CHOOK to respond Thanks

Who Would Want A 300/320k/hr Speedo
darrinspencer replied to darrinspencer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
No need to get the dolphin one as it will cost over $600+ I have just spoke to a aftermarket dial face supplier and sent of some pics for him to work with He is going to do a design over the week end and provide a price. His current models for other cars sell for approx $70 set. So the target of $150 with the calibration done should be achievable. -
There has been a genuine plastic one on there lately for sale for not much more. You would way better off with that than a f/glass copy. The amount of hits they get, it will not be long be for before a f/glass one will be damaged. For example, I bought my r34 GTR complete front bar from yahoo. Cost was 35000yen ($400). By the time it was landed to me in Brisbane it cost over $1000. If you go FRP, get one over or a aussie plastic and copy it. It will work out cheaper.

Who Would Want A 300/320k/hr Speedo
darrinspencer replied to darrinspencer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I have contacted this company as well. Looks like they can do the lot including fittins and calibration as well http://members.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...cruizin_central -
A recent thread of someone wanting a 300k speedo for a stagea got me started on this It is possible to recalibrate the factory speedo to read up to 300 or 320 opposed to the factory 180k/hr I have contacted Otto Instruments in Brisbane and they can perform the work. The cost will be approx $75. You will have to send your speedo to them and they can do the work the same day. Takes approx 1 hour I asked about a change over setup, but they would have to reset/adjust the odometer reading for each car which will cost more The next problem is new dial faces for the speedo. To get these made can/could be very expensive to get Stagea specific ones made. It might be possible to to use R33 or silvia dials commonly sold on ebay etc. There are some for Stagea's on Yahoo auctions japan, but sure if they read to 300k/hr. Will need to research this part. C34 Series 1 stagea's have black/grey faces and series 2 have white/silver faces. If I find a source for these, they will be white. If the whole lot can be done for approx $150, who would be interested. If I can good numbers I will try to get these sorted

I found the thread. Cost was $100 Amec is no longer in business. He did mention Otto instruments. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...l&hl=speedo Page 4 has a write up on fitting

With the current exchange rate, those dolphin clusters could cost between $600-1000 landed On a side note, there was a sponsor buy thread for 300k/hr speedo's for r33's etc From memory, they reused the factory speedo head/cluster and recalibrated it by bridging out certain point on the electronic board. This could probably be done by an insturment auto electrican. Then get new dail fronts made up Cost was approx $150 all up Need someone with a spare cluster to send off to someone

It does not look any different to the pic in your sig. One thing, it has convinced me to change the colour of my car from factory silver to something else. Not sure what yet. -

Send the parts numbers thru to www.japanparts.com in japan to get a quote They should cost less than that delivered -
Keep searching. I just bought a pair of zenon's for $400 from a wrecker Top mounting lugs were broken, but nothing too hard to fix.
