for an rb25 turbo, take the wastegate acutator off your RB20 turbo and put it on the 25 turbo. RB25 turbo's run 7PSI standard and RB20 turbos run 10PSI standard. So becasue the RB25 turbo is slightly bigger it will produce more power at 10PSI compared to the RB20 turbo. As far as boost goes no more than 12 PSI MAX. Unless you get a highflowed turbo from these guys www.gcg.com.au i think they can be rated up to 16 or 22PSI. But you dont want to run too much boost on standard internals otherwise you will fu(k your motor. Good luck champ!

The rebuild depends on how much modding you plan to do in the future. If you wanna go nuts with mods, rebuild time, if you want to leave as is then do a leakdown test and get the head checked out. Also how much boost are you running?

The compression side of things dont look too good dude. And if no 3 cylinder is burning oil i think it might be (i hate to say this) rebuild time. How many kms has the car done? Also any mods been done to it?

it does sound like rings. How about valve stem oil seals?

As you can see in my previous post, my cheap head has now gone bye bye. I rang around a few places to get some prices. Just Jap wanted 995 for an RB25DE head, SSSautomotive said they could supply me with the whole RB25DE motor for 1000. Is there something i am missing here? Or is just jap just got really high prices??? Also spoke to engine builder about rebuilding an RB30 bottom end, to get "the lot" rods, pistons, crank and block rebuilt 2200. Please excuse my ignorance, this is my first time and i have pretty much NFI about prices on this stuff, when i get a chance over the weekend ill try to read all the posts in this thread. thanks

Hey GTST I had a mate who was reckin his NA R32. I asked him to save the head for me, but aparently the bastard sold it. He wanted 300 bucks for it, thought it was pretty cheap aompared to around the 1000 mark that just jap are asking for a RB25DE head.
