Welshys 32ZILA and the 8HP.
welshy_32ZILA replied to welshy_32ZILA's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I feel like the rpm the torque converters are set to also probably match the factory power output and turbo etc. Also considering component wear and longevity for warranty purposes. -

I should note too as I have all 4 wheel speed inputs to the emtron I now have the emtron controlling the attessa solenoid for 4wd/traction and launch control strategies. -

It works quite well with the adjustibility within each of the programs of the turbolamik. Essentially p1 is drive and lockup comes on like a normal driver. But in program 7 I have customised it to not request the lockup clutch to engage until something like 6500/7 when slip was the lowest. -

Haha thanks Lith, So it's currently working quite well and the torque reduction is setup and working phenomenal. It also got a custom torque convertor from All Fast in WA. Stall speed somewhere around 5500rpm unlocked but still with the lockup. The car went back onto the dyno after a 3yr hiatus (even with the dbw, and other mods completed in this time) managed to make ~515kw at all 4 hubs. Sean setup the Torque reduction which now sounds awesome and working well. We setup adjustable torque controlled launch control aswell. Man what a feature. Especially when drag racing on street tyres I Managed to get out to the drags late last year and tick a huge bucket list item off of running mine and the cars first 9. Car went a 9.98 @142 Still had the young fellas car seat in the back aswell. This was on 255/40/17 Nankang AR-1. Currently the Turbolamik is still completing it's own torque calcs and managing shift times from there. Unfortunately emtrons can export is still a little restrictive to export the ecu calculated torque just yet but I have recently been suggested a work around that I just haven't had a chance to trial yet. -

Near 12mths since the last update apologies. Car is back running and driving. Have had a few runs at the drag strip also with a bit of success. Managed to run tje cars PB with a 10.88 @139mph with a 2.0 60ft. I have a stock 8hp converter and it's definitely too tight for my setup. But it drives on the street phenomenal. So happy to have converted from the sequential. Has made the car enjoyable to drive vs a what felt like a chore with the sequential. Looking a at few different options for converters waiting for some feedback from SDE if he can do one for me. Still a few minor things to work out regarding finalising torque reduction, I have it working but needs to refining. -

I run 2x 4" Magnaflows. They're pretty good straight through aswell. -

In other news, cooler and thermostat turned up. 1320motorspors come through with the goods on the cooler. And I've completed 85% of the ecu extension harness I've been working on in the background. -

Thanks, I've seen quite a few mixed reports on HTG. He seems to be working through the issues raised and from what I can see he probably should have worked through the beta a bit more before releasing. I've just been shown these which I'll definitely be keeping any eye on considering it's Australian made and supported if my gearbox doesn't turn up before they're released. https://mectricmse.com/products/praetor-ptc -

Yea that was my reasoning in going to the 8hp from the sequential. The sequential was fun to drive hard but when cruising was a bit clunky. Having had a self-built 6hp in my falcon(800hp) before the gtr was mint, cruise around none the wiser but plant it and hang on... bit of Jekyll and Hyde. -
Hi All quick intro been kick around on and off this forum for close to 5yrs. Car in its previous iteration was as follows. Basic built 26, drop in cams, head studs etc, oil pump etc. Os88 sequential (now removed and moved on) Emtron kv8 controlled with a plethora of sensors. Now for the fun bit, I am currently working through a 8HP conversion with a kit from HPR. I'll throw some photos up of everything but I have created a IG just to make it easier to upload photos. https://instagram.com/32zila_qld?igshid=OTk0YzhjMDVlZA==

DCT conversion updates

I'll start a new thread for 8hp or post my build thread to prevent from taking over the dct thread. I'll post link shortly. -
DCT conversion updates

From reading the supplied docs from HPR a small amount of massaging is required predominantly in vicinity of the transfer case. And a small bit where the 8hp breather is. -

I'm going a little different route and going the 8hp but still with the adamat and hpr adaptors. -
Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
welshy_32ZILA replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi, Me again. Long time between drinks Any chance anyone would have a 1.45 ar rear housing interested in swapping for a 1.05 to suit a 8474? Turbo is choking Uptop and keen to see with a gearbox change how a 1.45 would respond. -
Hi All, Just wondering if someone somewhere would have the specs, ie floats etc that os build their boxes too. I've got mine out on the bench atm after doing the gear position sensor upgrade but can't bring myself to throw it back in until I check them including the dogs. The box feels fine but as you know it's a mission to get in and out and don't feel like having to get it out again in a few thousand ks. Ive found holinger GTR box manual but unable to locate a OS. I've spoken to one of the AUS distributors and they weren't able to help. Extremely helpful if I need parts but no manual. Cheers Welshy

Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
welshy_32ZILA replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nah it was just the fuel pumps out of flow. But they are over 2yrs old now and not sure how much work they'd done before that as they come on the car when I bought it. I'd say you will be fine. I'll be keen to see your results as im soon to have a 26/30 in the shed as a incentive for the current motor to stay together. -

Hahahaha yea that was me mate. I was surprised it went 500 as that was never the aim. Fuel system is -8 supply and -8 return and 1650cc boch motorsport injectors. As I mentioned I'm in the process of fitting 2x bosch 540 fuel pumps with radium check valves and a radium high flow fuel 10micron fuel filter. -

Thats mine. It's being bled off boost for emap reasons. If I were you Shoot a 77 with a 3.0 bottom end I'd be going a 1.45 rear. Just my 2c. This also has leaking throttle body seals so the peak boost maybe a little high for the power for that reason. I can't justify pulling the manifold to fix the seals at this stage coz If I pull the stock manifold it'll stay off and I'll go a cpc/plaz with dbw to make the sequential better with flatshift. Put it this way power figure wise I'm out of fuel with 2x044s. Changing the setup to 2x540s in tank with a modified frenchys setup. -

I guess it depends on where u class map:emap your stopping point. Ie in my instance that's where we stopped and class it as a restriction. Obviously a few things could help the power figure. Better head/cam setup and trial of the 1.45 rear along with not having leaking tbs also. -

welshy_32ZILA replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Apologies I may have mis wrote my post. Tuner stated that the cam and head setup was a restriction. Yea it tapers off quite a bit to match the emap. There's maybe a little more in the last 1000rpm but not a huge amount. Boost control is 4port via the emtron -

Yes 1:1. How can't it be 1:1? 36psi on intake ~36psi in exhaust manifold. If emap was lower we cld push more boost till the emap rises all depends on where the tuner wants the ratio between map:emap. -

Yea running a kulig kit. I'm not too phased on the dyno number to be honest burn. Last time I rolled off the dyno with 460hp I was surprising people with nearly the same in kw.
