Will a visual inspection be enough to check for scratching and such?

Hi guys, Ive been out of this scene for a while. Long story short but I got a little screwed over and couldn't afford to keep up the hobby. So I've had my empty r33 shell just relaxing with a knocking RB2530 engine just sitting in the garage. My question to you guys. Due to knocking and putting metal through the motor will I be able to reuse my block and head or is it likely done for? As in if I replace the crank, rods, pistons and cams (and other little bits and bobs), will I still be able to put them in my current block and head? Please no flame. I feel like I've forgotten a lot as it's been around 7 years.
