Dilema No. 2... Adz's car is too skinny!
lang replied to pitchd's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
you could get wheels with the correct offset for starters? -
yes, but cats only have a finite lifespan, their ability to catalyse eventaully wears out. The workshop manual i have infront of me suggest replacing it every two years. so for example would the cat in either of my cars, both ~ 15 years old actually be doing anything at all other than acting as a restriction in my exhaust system? i doubt it not that i am disagreeing with you, ideally id love to have the money to fork out for two magic cats, im just saying would gutting a worn out cat really be damaging the enviroment any more than having it in place? and no i dont intend on gutting my cat

if you speak to transport SA, they will give you a list of things that need changing prior to inspection (side intrusion bars, child restraint anchor points ect) then you need to make sure you have nothing else defectable ie external venting blow of valves, non adr approved steeringwheels, turbotimers ect ect. then make sure car is clean with no signs of oil leaks in the engine bay ect. do all that and you should get through

its easy if you time it right, not sure if this has been mentioned allready but you can downshift without the clutch aswell as upshifting, its a bit harder tho, you really have to know the correct rpm your trying to change to for that gear and speed

Driving car for the first time
lang replied to Pablo's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
by hoping i didnt crash -
they way i look at it... manual cars allow u to use engine braking and gear selection to help balance the car when your cornering. in auto cars you loose this ability, gears can change mid corner and unload the chassy. i use left foot braking to negate this, but thats only if im driving in the hills for example (not speeding just making the car balanced through the corner) in city driving, no point using left foot so i dont, and only brake with my right (if i happen to be driving an auto)

lang replied to danozgriff's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
this is apparently my de-reg paper i dont understand how it would have any meaning to dotars tho, as far as i can see there isnt even a date of first registration on here, unless its in japanese (oh and if you can see the date on here please point it out ) -
Compliance Workshop in SA
lang replied to lukew105's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
best enterprises took my 15yo import through, they got it passed regency, but i was NOT happy with the quality of work that was done on the car and some things they did i felt like i was overcharged for. i never went back and complained because basically i didnt want them touching the car ever again! -
any decent tyre placeshould be able to remove the nut without the tool it came with. just call them up and say "i have a nock nut on my wheel but ive lost the fitting to remove it, can you remove it at the workshop" i can pretty much guarantee you they didnt use my fitting and managed to take my wheels off change the rubber and put it back on within about 4 minutes.

Light weight flywheel = less torque?
lang replied to wilch's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i have one in my daily driver went from a 13.4kg stocker to a 4.5kg lightened one, that has most of the weight on the inside and very little on the outside this one infact VV its alot better IMO, i have no problems using it for driving in heavy traffic, i consider it to be an all round improvement. only different is you need to slip the clutch a tiny bit more to engage it at low speeds, and that it will punish you more if you make a bad gearchange. but really at the end of the day you will be a better driver for having one and it improves the cars revability and acceleration, not by a huge amount but a definate improvement. took me about 4 days to get used to and since then i havent looked back -
stainless looks cool tho.. calsonic GTR, just has some stainless and pop-rivets by the looks of it

apparently there has been no change to the turbos at all.. other than the rating HKS has advised for them

you COULD do that, but have you ever accidentally set your alarm off? i know i have. and what if if a family member set it off by accident! i think unbearably loud is better than having something that could pop your eardrum if you set it off by accident.

seriously club locks are a waste of time they can be removed in about 10 seconds , and they actually assist the theif steal the car by allowing them to do something else with it. im not going to outline it here, because i dont want to say how to remove one on a public forum. if your an established member here and u want to know PM me.
