What an awesome day! I dunno how datnet felt about us raiding there BBQ, but thanks lads! How mad were those motorised bicycles! I'm glad I purchased a radio before the cruise, I'd of been stuffed otherwise. Just made the quick switch from the middle lane into the Shell so that people who forgot why we were meeting at Homebush could get petrol. Oh, and so the dog could have a drink. I can't get over Jay seeing that guy shooting up! SCARY stuff! I'm so with Jay on Maquarie's pass! Very much worth doing, it's the madest drive! Shell missed out though because she decided she was WAY too cool for us Canberrans :bahaha: Thanks to all who orgainised everything, thanks to 2Rismo for showing us the way (and the local knowledge of speed camera sites ), Jay for doing his best to get me out of the Gong and back to Canberra (hey I love U-Turns too ) and of course Datnet for their BBQ!

Whats the best Insurance out there???
CanberraR33 replied to skyline_paul's topic in New South Wales
I went through Insurance Advisernet Australia in Qld. I am 19 and pay $3,300 a year. Just cars quoted me $6k! The actual policy is through Classic and Vintage cars. They also seem to be pretty cool about mods which is a big plus for me. If you do insurance in your Mums name they will probably have an exclusion like no one under 30 can drive (that's what is on my Dad's WRX policy). Another option might be 3rd party fire and theft. I got quoted about $650 for that. It's better to be straight with the insurance companies than try and dodge them around, 'cause come claim time they will screw you over totaly! Had it happen to me once on house insurance and once on car insurance (what lowering springs...). Check out: http://www.importdriver.com.au/insurance.htm -
What does a microwave sensor do? How can someone be prevented from stealing your car even if they have your keys? So you mean as long as they don't have the alarm remote? I have a Vision FAI8000 pager alarm and find it very good. 3 point immobiliser, remote engine start, dual stage shock sensor etc. I find I get pretty good distance on the pager and I am never too far from my car. Unfourtunatly we don't get tracking in Canberra. I don't understand why as I thought it worked off a satalite but so I have been told by various sources!

NSW Police taking delivery of the new XR6
CanberraR33 replied to Silver-Arrowz's topic in New South Wales
In Canberra we have a marked Magna! I talked to the cop driving it and he said its a piece of shit on trial from Mitsubishi. We also have Volvo patrol, a marked WRX, and a couple of unmarked rexs. I wonder if the AFP will get Evo VIIIs if they come out here?! That would be cool! I'd say there may well be a few R35 V8s when they come out! -
Which way do you guys drive from Sydney to the Gong?

I bought a Nismo key from Japan for $60. I went to Canberra Locksmiths in Phillip but they said they couldn't cut it because the key doesn't have a "gutter". Has anyone else bought one and had it cut successfully? The guy in Phillip said he could give it a go but he felt mot likley it wouldn't work:( Taka Kaira in Japan won't give me a refund either! Even if I pay postage both ways! Bastards!

With the 2ways do u guys mean the UHF variety? The cheapest I have found is $98 from dicksmiths for a Uniden. Can someone confirm UHF before I go and buy one!

I'm keen to come and I'll be coming up from Canberra. Should I just meet you guys at Homebush?? Jay: What are you doing??

It's just crazy! I live in Farrer next to the reserve and the fire got pretty damn close! Heaps of fences on fire but luckily no houses. One of my mates from work spent Saturday afternoon fighting the fire near his mum's place. They managed to save it but lost the neighbours house who was away on holliday. Eventualy the cops just ordered them to leave. What shits me the most is the low lifes who have been looting places! If anyone can spare their time, spare bedroom etc. ring Canberra Connect on 132281. I got told that they will probably need people tommorow (Monday) in the evacuation centres to relieve current staff etc. I offered my house but they only want people with spare rooms at this stage. However if anyone on here needs a place to stay we have a sofa bed and couches etc. just PM me. I hope everyone is ok!

I'd give "New-Gel" in Isa Street Fyshwick a go. They can do most things... if you have the time. jk My mate has been waiting 3 months for his body kit on his Liberty. Although it's partly 'cause it is a modded 200sx front bar with WRX side skirts and rear extension! No doubt you will find you can get it done cheaper and quicker in Sydney, but I am always concerned about what I am going to get from a Sydney shop!

I haven't had my R33 that long (so I guess I'm kinda still driving it hard!) but I get about 320kms out of 50 ltrs around town and my best so far was 450kms on a highway run (just locked on at 120km/h no hard accelarating). This is on Optimax. I have been putting Wynns racing formula occtane boost in every forth tank. Do these fiqures sound like I have a problem or are they pretty ordinary? My last car a 2001 Astra I got 550kms around town and my best was 800kms on a trip to Melbourne!

Is it true that if you replace the standard steering wheel on an R33 that then HICAS will be disabled? When does HICAS activate? Is it constant or only above a certain speed?

Guide to modifying R33 Gts-t in Aussie Mag
CanberraR33 replied to CanberraR33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks guys! It just makes interesting reading. I am a Hot 4s subscriber but there is never much "performance" type articles in there, and I can't remember ever seeing a Skyline in it! I just signed myself up for a subscription to HPI. -
I went out to the Nats today. I thought it was ok, but Autosalon is way better! It's just way too damn hot at the moment to be walking around outside! Last nights cruise was a bit of a fizer! Eccept for that awesome R33 with Nos. That was nice :uh-huh: Elite Motorsport's cruise went off though!

John with the White R33 from AudioTech said he'd come too, hopefully there will be a nice turn out :burnout:
-
Shell, Are you okay with that?
-
I'd be up for it next year. By the way: Where can you get those bonnet tie downs? Do you stick the blue arrow on the boot in a skyline or on the back window? What sort of helmet?
-
So shall we say 6pm in the national library car park on Friday the 3rd. Who'll be there?

What's a good place to stick a sub in a R33?
CanberraR33 replied to CanberraR33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
AudioTech is where I am getting it all installed anyway. I know the guy you are talkin about. I saw him cruising around with no front bar the other day!
