  1. Double checked for stickers - cannot see anything so I'll assume its R12... From what I can tell I'll need a new compressor plus many other bits to convert to R134a and a quick search looks at about $2.5K for a compressor - based on that - I'll keep the windows down .. thanks all.
  2. Is there an update to this - Did you successfully convert your R32 to R134a gas - year on is it still good?
  3. R32 GTST - I'm trying to get my AC regassed - I have just been asked if it is a R12 or R134a system cannot see any stickers and would assume based on 1990 model that the R12 would not be the environmentally friendly gas.... any ideas.. or who can do gas in Sydney
  4. Well I think my switch has had it - it remains temperamental sometimes it works some times it does'nt .. Cleaned the contacts with wet n dry, used contact cleaner, applied dielectric grease and bent the pins a little .. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and by one for close to $200.
  5. So are you going for standard too?
  6. My 1990 R32 has these brakes - I was told that these are an upgraded brake caliper compared to normal - Being that the car is totally stock I wanted to find out a little more about them - are they not standard and if so why did some cars come out with them.
  7. Headlight switch is flaky again - was thinking of squirting some type of contact cleaner into it - Would WD40 be suitable or do I need a proper contact cleaner?
  8. Hi Guys, I'm looking to move my R32 GTST to NSW Conditional rego on Historic plates - The car is just stock and now over 30 years old so I qualify. Whilst its been on full rego till now, I don't drive it much and my son cannot currently drive it on his P's ... I've had VW's on historic plates before so understand how it all works .... but was reaching out to you guys to see what car club I should align with as this is a requirement. I'm in Epping NSW is there a JDM or a Nissan affiliated club in Sydney or historic vehicle club locally? Thanks in advance.
  9. I love this forum - I truly do - Thanks GTS Boy & blind_elk .. my headlights now work perfectly. Thanks so much
  10. @GTSBoy you mean the rotating switch?
  11. Hi guys - This is doing my head in and I need some help. 12 months ago I rebuilt my LHS headlight assembly as the glass was broken - all three lamps worked as expected small side orange/projector/main headlight, all good..... fast forward 11 months and that LHS headlight assembly only now has the small side orange light working. I spent considerable time testing with a multi meter - checking the lamps, was I getting voltage at the sockets.... there was no voltage and lamps tested fine. I reseated all relays, checked & tested fuses, fiddled with switches (if only a wiggle) and sharp taps! and still nothing! Got fed up and forgot about it until just now - 2 months later as I had not driven the car since - The car started perfectly - when I turned the headlights on BOTH projector lamps came on - I was surprised, so I turned high beam on and.... the projector turned off but the main headlight never turned on. So I went back to low beam and sadly the projector now refuses to turn on. I've tried every switch configuration and both the LHS projector & headlight will not turn on, only the side orange lights. See table below: What should be the lighting changes with the switch configurations - As I can tell the dash switch does nothing - what should it do? Can anyone give me some advice on what the issue with my LHS headlight assembly may be? How can I test the relays? What else can I test?
  12. Thanks mate - But I believe we are sorted - thanks any ideas why it may have broken?
  13. Not that I can tell - nothing obvious
  14. Hi Guys, My mechanic took a look at the timing belt on my RB20 and the Crank Sensor Bracket (Thats what I think it is) just came away - Has anyone seen this before - how would it of happened - any ideas.
  15. Thanks mate - Close this off with a link to a vid on YT:
  16. A while back I got my power steering rack rebuilt and I reinstalled it - but I noticed its now leaking. On closer inspection it looks like its coming from where the pipes meet the assembly Being a newbie I never bothered replacing the copper washers as I never had any... part number is 49726 - Does anybody know what size these copper washers are ID & OD - do they need to be genuine parts or could I buy from Repco and the like... Also I've noticed that there are some O'rings part number 49345A again I may have missed these but they look like a copper washer - Can any body tell me what size they are can I buy them from Repco. When I googled the part numbers - they seem to also appear as Nissan Pathfinder parts - are some R32 parts compatible with the Pathfinder? See images
  17. but they still need to be glued on don't they?
  18. trel - You sir are a legend - thanks
  19. Thanks but I can assure you I never hit 180 kmh or close to it - Might have to give it another belting to see when it triggers
  20. Surely you must be able to change the setting
  21. I'd say it would make a noise post 120kph never felt it was revving high Trel, if it is a speed alarm how do you adjust this?
  22. Sorry don't get that - You think it was a warning of sorts?
  23. I know you may be thinking WTF? But today was the first opportunity I got to push the R32 a bit hard and the RB20 quite comfortably exceeded the speed limit. What I noticed was not that it had so much more to give but the car made a beeping or chiming sound - What is this noise? Was it a warning, a speed limiter and if so how can you adjust it or turn it on/off. It only made the chiming at the top end and then it would disappear on normal driving.. Any ideas?
  24. Just seeking some advice - the internal trim around my rear quarter windows keeps coming loose - I have tried contact adhesive, contact gel, waiting for both sides to remain tacky - have tried wedging plastic pieces into the edge to hold them in place as the glue dries but they continue to peel back due to the heat & sun. Has anybody found a product or a way to stick the trim material down for good? See photos
