  1. No I'm saying the crank can push the piston to hit the valve.
  2. No idea what it is lol. Is it that valves ca t open or close if cams removed?. At tdc are ALL valaves on ALL cylinders closed?
  3. Yea I seen the pliers but the procedure is confusing. It makes sense for the first cylinder how to do it put the rope down, put piston to BDC then put it out with the compression tool, etc. but everyone seems to do it with the timing chain or belt REMOVED when rotating the crank pulley. wont this make the valve hit pistons?
  4. its a sr20. I don't imagine it would have something to do with the intake manifold if I forgot to connect something. but can't imagine it would be. Was thinking of resetting the ecu . What I did is put the plumbing back to stock cause the previous owner messed around with it a bit but the blow off valve or whatever the PCM is loud as hell when shifting gears lol.
  5. I did so many times and latest is 130 across the board. But problem is there is oil on the pistons so that might be sealing it up. I had different readings each time but the car wasnt working then but now the latest is 130.
  6. Do you think it could be the pcv valve? Reason i ask cause is i remember cleaning it out a while ago and there is a bit of rattle when you shake it but if you shake it in certain positions you cant hear any rattle.
  7. I was thinking one of those but even if they are the culprit csn it really lose THAT much oil in only 200km or so?this is 4ltr of oil. also how to test this?
  8. Hey man i noticed about 200km ago i changed my oil and its almost all gone! I went to pull up the dipsrick randomly to check and noticed the bottom part of the dipstick only had oil on it! now im worried that ive cause major internal damage. do you think this has to do with the valve guides?
  9. thanks man but wouldnt i here if i had a vacumm leak? would this cause oil fouled spark plug to? car also has some fuel smell inside i tighted the exhaust manifold cause a while ago it smoked and it made alot of difference but then i could smell it again.,
  10. I just checked all my cylinders have oil inside them it seems. I do remember a while back when I took off the intake manifold there was some watery stuff like oil inside not sure if that matters? Check the picture here there was liquid in here
  11. That would make sense I guess. So on the tip of the exhaust my fingers shouldn't be rubbing smoothly if its running rich only right?
  12. You joking around or lol?
  13. I rubbed the exhaust tip and my fingers and it wasnt really oil my finger was quite tight rubbing against the exhaust tip. But it does look shiny, here is a picture
  14. I hope not, I'd have to remove the turbo lol.
  15. Oh boy here we go again it just doesn't end haha. So I went to take out the spark plugs to see the condition of them and checked the compression of only 2 cylinders and they were perfectly even. But noticed both spark plugs especially the first one was quite dark, seems like it's running rich. Even the exhaust tip is black. When I went for a drive today the smoke was very light grey or white and dissapeared fast it seems to appear on high revs or switching gears on high revs? and in 1 instance the smoke was black somewhat. Here are some photos: No idea what it is, I don't think it's piston rings or bent valves considering the compression was the same / wasn't a big difference.
  16. Well my silvia has been running great on the road but have not been driving it at all almost while im sorting some stuff (so its been sitting for a week or so) and I was behind the car when i had someone else driving at and it seemed when the gear was changed that white / very light blue smoke was coming out the tail pipe? i know before i had smoke coming out of the engine because i didn't tighten the bolts on the exhaust manifold but that was fixed. Any other ideas what it might be? the iacv, pcv, air filter, fuel filter, throttle body, all that is either new or been cleaned but its not that. Timing chain was fixed so the car is in time. New oil was also added in. Or maybe the car needs to be driven on a more daily basis? I also put new fuel in.
  17. Yeah they cant insure if your under 30.
  18. looks like yous are right. The other problem is car theft for this sort of car. I heard gps trackers are good but also hear they get stolen quite alot even with some of them in there.
  19. So I been shopping around for insurance and the agreed market value is complete bullshit. On average a 3.5k valuation for a Nissan Silvia that sells for at LEAST 8k on auction regardless of the condition. Just looking to get opinions if anyone here thinks 3rd party is worth it, cause comprehensive doesn't seem to be. i tried also Shannon's but because under 26, premium was off the charts, worse than any other insurer.
  20. Yeah, damn they are expensive but ive noticed recently thats the price u pay for owning a jdm lol. But can i drive the car without it?
  21. Can I ask you for part number 63821 the fender protector thing is it illegal to drive without it? I realized one is missing on my car.
  22. Cheers man will give them a ring.
