  1. HPI, Driftworks, tengoku (well not tengoku so much) all have a bit.
  2. hey danozgriff, dont know 4 sure which carrier but itd have to be KLine i cant see any MOSK ships arriving around the 13th on the freports site... thanks i hope my car is in one piece too! blacky
  3. as reference my car is on the boat that left J in january, coming to freo, and will arrive on the 12th/13th february.
  4. this should bring out a few people waiting to sell off their 89's at inflated prices...
  5. Beauracracy is the main reason - even if we complain its never going to get anywhere. Usual government style.
  6. Thanks for the quick post Funky. Finally we see the demise of our beloved 15yr old rule. And isn't it a big surprise that they took the option we knew they would- that of shutting out all 1989 onwards cars, instead of the other, and in my view, fairer options. Good on you Jim Lloyd and the Federal Government, again you serve your own interests over what the people of this country want. Did anyone other than the major automotive manufacturers (who I admit do substantially contribute to the Australian economy) actually object to the 15yr rule? Not one person I discussed this with (car enthusiast or otherwise) could find reason to agree with the Government's view of this issue. Sure, we can't deny that the increase in private importation (especially 15year old and older cars) has made *some* sort of dent in the local market (no matter how small) but the use of this as a reason is just ludicrous. The above, to me, seems like a facade - as many have already stated, Japanese vehicles of equivalent age are usually far superior in safety standards than their Australian counterparts. And are the cars we import not made to comply with Australian Design Rules to meet required safety levels? Hello, comlpiance? Side intrusion bars? Seat belts? Emissions I cannot comment on as I havn't seen any data on it yet. So whats the real reason for closing the 15 year rule? I'll leave that for others to comment on. (unhappy) Blacky

  8. Was a bit of a joke LW... its true tht you can only bring in one personal import in any one year. i'd be lucky to be able to afford one with the running costs and shaken. but anyway
  9. Agreed, another example of the government putting other issues ahead of what its own citizens want. I personally will be going to Japan and getting a few personal vehicles once the 15yr old rule has been murdered. Taking orders now!!!
  10. cool cool, whatever you can do is much appreciated! domo
  11. scam scam scam. if it was any good everyone would be using it.
  12. Any news on the translation DaiOni? I'm hangin to find out!! blacky
  13. I think thats a nice looking car, and those extras make it even more appealing. I'd say the price is fairly reasonable. Nice car!
  14. cheers DaiOni, had another J mate have a go at it but they were the same with the messy Kanji... and she'd just been there a year!
  15. Bump... anyone want to have a go?
  16. Yep, one lanyard for me if i can get it by Friday before i fly out!! methinks i wont be able to get one by then?
  17. You could try ringing one of your local workshops, or even an auto electrician just to try and get some information, even if they wont tell you exactly what to do. Most places are more than happy to help, so ring around. blacky
  18. My last car on RoRo was between $1600 and $1700, not sure. But yeah, bout $500 more than yourself.
  19. Thats cheap Merlos, even with compliance and rego on top. You'd probably be having it on road for about $9000 yeah? btw, you guys get seriously cheap shipping being closish to J
  20. Heres a challenge for ya... :sly: We managed to translate most of this, but we didnt know alot of the kanji. If anyone can fill me in (especially on the Advertisment and Sales Points) I'd really appreciate it. DaiOni?? Domo arigatoo gozaimashita
  21. lol, bower birds. An absolute shame that they thieve from other people, but i suppose its exactly the same story as it is away from the docks - if something is around that someone wants, they'll take it regardless. They must think theyre above the law or something. Security at our docks (Fremantle) has tightened up for those trying to get in, yet those on the inside seem to be able to get away with anything - hooning, handbraking cars, thieving peoples property?I mean ****, have some restraint. The fact that no one really follows up on it probably has something to do with their disregard for the law. blacky
  22. if you can find one at maybe a wreckers or from someones half cut you could easily just wire and solder it in... Try Nissan if nothing comes up.
  23. How the hell did you *ahem* your friend get away with that? I thought busting people for emissions related problems was a pit inspectors wet dream!! what car was it?
  24. I'm starting to agree with you Matt in the luck of the draw idea, as most people dont seem to have had too bad an expreience if any. My last import was fine, but it had far less on it than the current one. Has anyone claimed on any insurance when things have gone missing? Surely the shipping company's liability ends once the car is recieved at the docks... then how are you covered? blacky
  25. No worries Moo, nothing worse than no one helping you out when you need it! as for your q's, 1) If you have the money and inclination to get braided lines, go for it. People who dont use them for looks know that they are far less prone to ballooning and expansion, so not only is it safer but you also *can* get a nice solid feel. Just try and make sure you get ADR approved ones. 2) I never knew people changed em! Suppose if theyre identical its a great idea! 3) I used to have major fuel issues with the old vl. Spent alot of time on the oxy sensors, and its a very good idea to replace them if theyre shagged. As for finding out if it is or not, the workshop manual isnt very helpful, says you need the consult system. But from my basic knowledge the voltage on the signal wire should be bouncing from 0-1v if its working. Maybe try backprobing it to check? Just my thoughts blacky
