  1. thats a bit misguided, Aussies are going to take stuff if the opportunity presents. Speaking to my importer, he was saying the issue does get blown up a bit, in all his time importing, hes only had a few stereos, shift knobs and gauges go. But I'm still a bit wary!
  2. If you're desperate to get it over the pits, just weld the hole up and clean it up nicely, the pit inspectors wont even know that anything is meant to be there, and then just put it in later if you need it. blacky
  3. the turbine is only going to be spinning when exhaust gas is being pushed past it, so even when the car is idling on the TT its going to be spinning, but not much. The TT's purpose is to let the turbo lose some heat by allowing the coolant/oil to still circulate (car at idle) while the turbo isnt doing any work, so its safe to shut it down (so its not too hot when the coolant and oil stop pumping)
  4. Hmmmmm strange that both fluids (oil and coolant) are overheating at the same time. Can someone clarify if R34's have combined coolant/oil radiators. If they do, which i think they probably dont, then the radiator could be to blame.. but i dont know enough about 34 coolings systems to be able to say much. Sorry mate!! someone will help you out. Come on fellas!
  5. Mispelling everywhere Payment details on front page Prices that suggest very little margin (how can they supply product so much cheaper than everyone else? - not the real deal) Their "10 second car" frame lists HID lights as a component. Not very professional. Sure this could be the buy of the year but when does a situation like this ever pan out the way you want it to?
  6. should of dumped your thickshake on their ****ing heads...
  7. You can get coverage for actual items on the car, but you pay more i think. Razors right though, if you can arrange for the items to be put in the wheel well or something like that youd be right. Someone on here had one of their gauges tied to the steering column....
  8. Hey all, Justt trying to get a general idea of how prolific stealing from cars during the import process is. I have a car arriving soon, and am concerned about this due to the amount of accessories on it. Post up experiences, what was taken, at what stage, etc. should be interesting to see... Blacky
  9. Hell no, i think most people would say stay away from Warwick... worst of the lot...
  10. Once brake fluid is flushed and replaced, it can be left for ages. Just do it when you first get the car, and then forget about it. How I do it, quick, easy & fun : 1 - Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap 2 - Loosen front wheel nuts 3 - jack the car up at the front 4 - get a length (maybe 20cm?) of clear pvc aquarium type tubing that will fit the bleed nipple on the caliper, and pop it on. Soften with a lighter or hot water if it won't fit. Run the loose end into a container. 5 - Get an open ended spanner that fits the land on the nipple, and have it on there ready to crack the nipple on and off 6 - Have someone watching the reservoir, ready to pour in new fluid as the level drops 7 - Crack the bleed open. Quickly pump the brake pedal a few times to get the old fluid flowing out. It may take a bit, but keep pumping and itll make its way down the tubing. Have the other person top the reservoir up with the new fluid. 8 - keep going until the new fluid can be seen exiting the caliper, then have the bleed nipple closed. (helps at this point if the fresh fluid is a different colour to the old stuff) 9 - move onto each of the other calipers until complete. At no point let the reservoir take in air - this is where problems can occur. Have someone constantly ready to top it up. This isnt the only or best way to do it (ideally, you'd take it to a brake shop for a complete flush and refill) but ive had great success this way, and its easy to do. good luck, have fun blacky
  11. Ah good news man, how good is it when the car *finally* is ready to drive! If your'e up this way bring it round, would love to have a look at her. howd u go at the pits btw? any hassles? i remember Paul from Autoworx was there when i was taking my last car over, he was getting a Prius licensed. I was in line chatting to him, and he was pointing out which inspectors to try and get and which ones to avoid - think thats what saved me as i got a good one.
  12. I live about 2 mins from Autoworx, so I'm always dropping in to talk about imports, and getting mine complied - Paul (owner) is always ready for a chat and will even tell you what you can do yourself. $1400 sounds quite reasonable for a 4-door. My 2 door GTST was quoted at $1200, so you're on the money. You may wanna confirm on the seatbelts if not already, as i think Paul said they dont have to be replaced on our ones... And no, the rearview mirror doesnt need replacing blacky
  13. A leak-down test would also be very useful, alot of the time its the best indicator of engine condition. In case your'e not sure, each cylinder is pressurised, and then the amount of leaked psi is measured over time. The rate of leakage gives some idea of what the internals are like. I've never had to have one done, so dont hold me to it though good luck though! blacky
  14. radiator no intercooler probably would have to be connected (part of the intake system)
  15. So you went thru Autoworx too Baselinez? What was your experience like with them? And hows the white warrior progressing? blacky
  16. So many times i've heard that Skylines "Are way too common. Like commodores". True in a sense, in that the number of R33s has exploded, but as for R32s... ?
  17. Dude if you by (a slim) chance have the GTR triple gauge cluster for the center console I'll snap it up as soon as your ready. blacky
  18. ah ok, i feel much better now - couldn't have had one anyway!

    big day out

ah mate i was really looking forward to the BDO this year, but i'm going to Europe so gonna have to miss it! Spewing, especially with System of a Down playing, theyre so good. Missed both Rammstein and The Darkness in past years, so was determined to see a big name heavy set, but alas, i will have to wait till next year (or Europe!) You gonna go watch system gavin?
  20. hmmm, not *too* sure here, but if its over a certain age i think theyre a bit more lax on what you bring in. Perhaps over 30 years old? anyone else have a better idea?
  21. I've gotta say that now people are starting to get away with importing 1990 cars, I wanna buy a GTO! but i'll stick with the 32...
  22. wouldnt think so... CF is just a laminate, exactly like fibreglass so i dont think itd be hard to find someone to do it. Just mite cost a bit more. Ring around the fibreglassing places to see what they reckon. blacky
  23. Just to clear things up a bit (in case anyone wasnt sure) compliance and roadworthiness (or pits) are seperate issues. Compliancing is having the car modified to ADR (Aus. Design Rules) standards. The compliance workshop will do the mods, and the engineer will check them off a list. The car is has now been complied. Now its time for the car to undergo a roadworthiness test, being taken over the pits. They dont really check compliance items here as you give them the engineers check off list anyway. If anything they check tyres for DOT or E markings. Compliance: Anti-intrusion bars fitted into every door Drivers mirror replaced with flat glass High-mount brake light fitted if not already (eg in the spoiler, rear windscreen) Fuel filler restrictor tyres to DOT or E standard brake lines to ADR standard Seatbelts - 89 r32's usually dont need to be changed (i'm pretty sure -correct if wrong) numerous places can do this for you, or you can even do it yourself. Some places are Autoworx, Phils Mechanical, A&B Autos, John St Autos (Not 100%) and more... I reccommend Autoworx in Wangara. Very good work and quick too. check out the DIY Compliance thread, we've covered heaps more stuff there: DIY Compliance Blacky *edit* GotBoost, you wont have to find an engineer yourself, its all taken care of for you as part of the compliance process by whichever workshop you choose.
  24. didnt know ppl were still into this thread! cheers guys! thx for the comments, I'm hanging to see it. A small setback though in that it missed the December boat, so now I wont be able to see it until July, as I'm going overseas in two weeks.... NOOOOOOOOOOO! oh yeah, thx for the offer pitchd, but i reckon it looks hot with the mismatched wheel style..
  25. its mostly a mith that the Pit is a licensing black hole (of course depending where you go) Apparently Warwick is a no-go, but East Perth was excellent, took an RX7 over there with rock hard suspension, intake bits, massive exhaust, and while he was fairly thorough he wasn't a bastard. Was taken for a drive and given my plates. Dont stress too much, just try East Perth and welshpool first. blacky
