  1. better get cracking on this thing, It's going in the club sprint class at superlap
  2. how about some trim work then?
  3. New Shit Box???? it's a 17 year old bucket of the fore mentioned and it's dam fine top quality pooh I'll have you know. And I think the Hail dimples will have a fantastic aero quality, something like a golf ball? looks like 1. Zebera, If ur handing out some green folding type help..... I need some too please. Any way, the boss and I have talked it over and I will be down.
  4. Think I will have to come down for a look this year.
  5. I've been using them for 3 years on a race car with no problems.
  6. Yeh dunc, I knew things were not looking too good when it was down about 70-80 rwhp on Johns dyno the day before Oran. When we got back there was 2 or 3 more events and the turbo got more whistley so it was def time to give it all a realy good look over. And look wher it has ended up.... in a road car.
  7. Picked up the new turbo today.
  8. Have been busy this evening, remaking a turbo manifold for the boss/minister for war and finance's race car. She has ditched her very cool twin turbo setup for a single, gtbb2830. old set up on a dummy motor about 5 years ago. Has been a good thing but a pain to work on. FYI R32GTR hats on Garrett gt28 cartridges, 3SGTE. They would probably be a good upgrade for a GTR, might want a birthday first though. I have re used the old manifold and cut it up to re model it. This has to have about the shortest runners possible. Hope it wotks ok. I still need to finish it off properly as you can probable tell, just needed to see if it was going to fit ok.
  9. If it is possible, I wish I could undo the edit I did lastnight. I was afraid that others would not see it the same way, fears put to rest. RANT ON!! It is unbelievable that 1 category can hold so much sway in the Australian Motorsport community. Unfortunately there is too many out there who still think that they ear watching a real ford v holden battle. son of rajab give me strength if you dare suggest otherwise. Do you get many spectators to normal motorsport events down south? We get a good turn out to the national series and the All historics, all the others are pretty woefull. I remember a normal state CAMS meeting as a kid at lakeside was standing room only most the times I went with Dad. We had to get there early for a good spot near bus stop. low spectator numbers can't be helping the track coffers. How are tracks funding maintenance and upgrades? we are definetly paying more and more to enter events. I guess Gaming grants are applied for pretty hard as well? Dam I hate bloopercars.... End Rant.
  10. There is plenty of room in the yard for camping if any 1 needs a place to set up camp. BBQ and drinks at my house goes without saying. That said camping at the track is always a good thing too. I really wan to go back and have a really good look ant take some decent shots of the upgrades.
  11. If you can't get there in 15 min from bed.... something's up...... hahaha, just realized that sounds like a good thing
  12. Hope they don't rely to heavily on the V8 money too much, that is if they make much profit after paying for the V8 show appearance fee. Stupid V8's. Get some diversity and put some other brands in like Merc and Toyota.
  13. I want my turbo and manifold on so I ca get water lines sorted out before it goes in.
  14. Just you wait till we get on track, then we will see where all this Hi-mutiny get Yee LOL
  15. Some friends came out to visit on the weekend and we thought we would go for a late afternoon sticky-beak at the new track extensions. Can you believe I even managed to take a photo.... then the batteries went flat The new bit cuts out the flipflop and esses back on the front straight. So you come out of the left hander, down the hill and keep going. There is a slight kink left followed by a triple right sweeper into an openish 90deg Right. That is all more or less down hill and a good 1km of track. Out of the 90deg R and it is power city time (up-hill all the way back on to the old track) with a shortish straight 250/300m into a medium paced R>L esses back onto the front straight. I will talk nicely to Bill and see if he will let me have a blat on a push bike with a small camera mounted some place???? I'm not holding my breath.
  16. 6200???? hope not. I was hoping with a slightly bigger tail it will help the top end a little. The T300 fell off at about 7100 on it's HKS cast manifold. I've had the crack repaired and faced up. Give it about 2 weeks and we should have it on the dyno.
  17. I got MTQ to do some homework for me, they found that a GTBB3071R has very similar sizes as you can see below. Space is an issue for my setup. The 3071 front cover is on a TO4E platform which has a pretty big Dia. Too big in fact to fit. My old T300 cover is on a smaller Dia TO4B platform and can be modified to fit the 3071. The other bonus is that the 3071 cover has only a 0.5 A/R and the T300 has a 0.6 A/R. This is how they both started /ended life as Mr Garrett intended; GTBB3071R, 53.1mm comp wheel,0.5 A/R, TO4E, 56.5, T86 turbine, 0.64A/R, 4 bolt ext gated. T300, 52.3mm comp wheel,0.6 A/R, TO4B, 55.2, T78 turbine, 0.64A/R, 4 bolt ext gated. I will end up with a modified version, some thing very much like this? i think GTBB3071R, 53.1mm comp wheel,0.6 A/R, TO4B, 56.5, T86 turbine, 0.64A/R, 4 bolt ext gated.
  18. From when everthing was in the Yellow shell, yes Havent finished the transfer into the black shell just quite yet, no pics yet.....but there will be some time soon. IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q108/noddyr33/SDstanthorpe-86.jpg[/img]
  19. you know that a 26 head is an easier fit. no block mods needed
  20. 17x9 +30? I will have to go look for the real offset. I normally run 33mm bolt-ons front and 28mm on the rear with these on the yellow car. No spacers here, all natural baby. Painting the bumper today if the weather holds up
  21. The title says builds. To put it simply the race car is getting up graded in nearly every aspect. She's a pertty sad sight at the moment, empty as shell on jack stands. Any how, I have a spare shell in the corner, why not put all the old stuff into it? that is all the running gear suspension and brakes. Basically everything that came off the race car. I think I can get all the suspension mods through a RWC but Transport Dept might flip without a mod plate. Pretty sure I can get that sorted. It will even have air-con, hehe rego and air. I know it looks pretty average in the pics below but it will come up ok with a bit of paint and a polish. I have it entered for Gatton Sprints so I better get it together and sorted pretty quick, there only about 6 weeks to go. just need to put the motor together, get the turbo sorted, bolt the engine and box in and we are away for RWC & mod-plates. OH, and painting the front bumper too..... 1 day I will tackle the slight Hail damage and repaint it yellow.
  22. kewl. Which head are you going to use?
  23. I know Fatz is telling the truth, I read the same thing in a TinTin comic book! Gotta love the 4wd megga power action. I knew there was a reason WRC cars are built, set up and driven like that WRX for a reason. However, My experience has shown that a lap that felt way fast with a hint of sliding about wasn't actually my fastest. Disappointingly, it was the precise and slower feeling(less exciting) ones. I do like the exciting ones much more, Harry has lots of them everywhere at Lakeside, and holds me up doing it. We turned a 59.?? sec on the first flying lap and only a 60.??sec on the 2nd with heaps of exciting moments all over the place, most exciting on the change of direction and elevation under the bridge!!!!
  24. A couple of weeks down and there is some news on what a Garrett HKS T300 is. It's basicly a TO4B style turbo that has a 3" inlet, 2" outlet, A/R.6 front housing with a .64 rear housing, 52mm front wheel and a 55mm rear wheel, plain bearing oil cooled turbo. And exturnaly gated. Inspection showed there is some damage to both wheels and the core is a bit long in the tooth. Parts are available in the US out of HKS USA. All said and done total repair cost was close to $1600. Bit much I think to be spending on a bushed turbo. So? what to replace it with? Looking purely at wheel sizes a Garrett 3076R in the GTBB series comes kinda close. 57mm/60mm & comes with a .64, 4 bolt rear cover. The front cover in dimension is a little too big to fit the hole. The T300 cover can be machined to fit with a total cost... $1500 ish. Did I mention Space is an issue? the old turbo was a tight fit with only a few mm between th front cover and the engine mount. I had to modify the mount a little to get it to fit in the first place. Obviously this is why I cant have the bigger sized front cover on it. Any Ideas on what else to do?
