We went for a slide in stanthorpe a couple of weeks back. Top little track.

This movie starts with a very short road trip for the people who missed out and leads into practice, Qual, comp and even a drag race. I had a new camera mount in the car that should turn to follow the momentum of the slide.... but it kept getting stuck. Pretty happy however for its first trial and have some ideas on how to make it better for the next outing. I have a fair amount of footage of ppl's off's which which I plan to put into a short stack compilation, tonight even maybe. Anyhow, sit back and enjoy .....

Sounds Like you are getting plenty of track time Ben. In a selfish way I hope it takes a while to get ur box fixed, hahahaha. On the wing thing I find they do make a signifigant diff getting the power down earlier and harder. even drifting like on sunday at Carnell in stanthorpe.

I hate surfing when at work, blimmin surf control!!!! No youtube for me.

A good day was had by most ppl in cars... i think. There were sidecar motorbikes there today and at least 2 of the swingers/passengers went to hospital. 1 with some broken legs or something and the other fighting off a sever case of neardeath. Back to cars and congrats to marlin for posting some solid 58 sec laps. If your not sure that is motoring.I managed to get some footage on my still camera after damaging a tire. I will post some pics and vids up soon, after catching up on some sleep.

I will be the gumby in the yellow 33 with a silly wing on it and std calipers..... just has good pads!

I was on the coast today to pick up some grip tires from WBR. Cam said to meet him at his new Indoor gokart track on the coast, which is at nerang directly opposite Supercheap. While I was there I just had to have a go.... and it was very interesting to drive on as the floor is partly painted from previous tenants, Sailsbry wreckers I think. Surprisingly a traditional grip style driving was not the best way round the track, a feint entry aiming for an early apex rocked. I had a ball for a few min, will have to get a group together for some extra fun.... flat out gokart drift trains!!!!

First page has links straight to and entry form and all the details you need. New brakelines are on and looking forward to sunday.

have a look on the chasie plate.... it will tell you the original diff gearing was. can't remember the code but I will know it when I see it..... If I'm allowed a look! there might be some sort of secrets in there.

NEW RUBBER?????? Its only a basic sprint day.... That said I'm gunning for that sub 60 mark my self. I've got new braided lines on the way, an extra hot dog (101 db apparently) and ....... no thats it, budget blown.

That lap at lakeside looks scary as!!! WOW
-
In the first session I went close/on to the edge out of eastern loop, into bus stop and before the bridge, F$%&ing scary!!! Yes marlin it has a big silly wing. Will be taking some rake off it as I was getting some highspeed understear. Front splitter miht help there too???? mmmm how to make a new splitter before the 2nd?

It will be interesting to hear the results ben. It looked like most ppl were getting a pretty good handle on things by the end of the day with some good times as well. I liked the new surface but a little disapointed that the kink has lost some of its fear factor. At any rate I can't wait to get back in a forghtnights time... I think, will check the dates.

yeh, they told me I was concistant ly 101db with a rotary not fay behind me. MMM, who was realy the loud 1? how ever my day was over after the 2nd run any way when a rear cracked (Peddle went very long) going into carosel. It started the lap before and I thought the pads are getting down to about 1/2 worn, perhaps ther starting to over heat quicker? When the peddle went realy long on the 200+ entry to carosel, I thought "that feels very odd, even for fade" and decided to brake early for hungry. On arrival at hungry....the peddle went to the floor at about 195kph...... a combination for foot & H'brake and compression lock got it in to the corner but, HOLLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!! not something I want to do again. Suprisingly even with a greatly subdued remainder of the lap it still clocked in the 62sec bracket.

I'm with you there. None of that cheat type stuff, then again, it's a good battle sometimes

I use and recommend Hart Transmissions on the northside, 132 South Pine Road Strathpine, 38812644. They have been building my race boxes for a long time. If you cal them, tell them Stuart from Warwick sent you. My last rebuild on a race box that gets abused was under 1k. Obviously yours will depend on what has gone bye bye.

I have registered for the aug 2nd day, should be a blast!!! can't wait to get back there on the new surface. However I was talking to some of the guys who went to the meeting last weekend, they were all commenting on how slippery it was. Still excited to get out there again.

mmm but what is power with out concequence or controll or handling? Obviously a track that is a series of drag strips linked with corners that offer little in the challenge department suits some cars and drivers. When Paul goes back to Lakeside give me a hoy and we will see how my lowpowerd GTST stacks up with the big power GTR's on what is a power track with the forementioned inclusions.

Thats a shame it's on the same day but, you guys enjoy (the infinite crapness of) QR. That place is so ho hum to drive. I just can't get into it. Jangles...... I wana see the ke stylin around the track, If u bring it 1 day, I will drive it!!! as for the purple ppl eater, might go 1/2 ok. I might suggest some minor setup changes though.

In Warwick there is a track called Morgan park. Its about 2 hours south west of Brisbane. It takes me Just over 1 hour from Queensland Raceway. Most Wensdays are practice days at morgan and cost $55 for 1/2 day and $70 full day. No cams lic needed, just helmet and long pants and sleeves. This wed is no different and I will be doing some testing there for most of the day. If anyone wants to come out and have a crack at the track, I would be happy to give some pointers and to show the way around the track. lines etc. Some of you would know it is where the Nissan Datsun Nationals were held at easter. In the sprints I came in 4th behind Mark Berry's Advan R34 GTR, Brad Botcher's GTR and John Penlington's Unique Auto Sports Z32. Only real point to remember is that drift is frowned apon and if you go sliding around, even unnessacery powersliding you will probably be asked to stop or go home if you do it again. I have spent the last 3 years gaining some respect there and If you are going to be a wank out there, I dont want to know you. Any how, Morgan Park is a top track, 2nd only to Lakeside in QLD is my opinion. If you think grip racing, time attack or sprinting is something you might like to give a go, come on out.

You could talk to a motor trimmer about it but in the long run the wheels we like and love are going to get us defected. Could also void insurance too. Std wheels can be retrimmed, Airbag assembalys are offlimits, there are ADR complied aftermarket wheels out there but they can be ugly. Its funny how things are deamed unsafe for the road but are mandatory for racing regulations. EG, Harnesses and Side intrusion bars in roll cages. Funny Eh?

Damaged Crank - Part Of My Rb26 Track Car Rebuild
Noddy replied to wrxkilla's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
The 2 key set up is a problem on the RB engines. they are often the problem of making it difficult to remove the balancer. The key usualy slips and locks the pully on and if a water pump has had a leak the job can be 10 times harder. Using the correct type of hydrolic puller to remove the pully makes light work of the situation. I have had the 2 1/2 moon keys removed and use 1 single long key in thier place and have no problems. A highly recomended mod for any RB rebuild. I will have to take some pics on my new race engine when it gets back from the machine shop.
