  1. After working out att the bolt holes, angles, heights etc, I drew it up in inventor and sent it to the conclusion plasma cutter. 6 mm plate with slots and key design. It holds it self together really nicely almost eliminating the need to tack weld it. I used countersunk graded bolts Instead of studs. They have been tacked in so the won't spin when putting the nylocks on later. The main reason I used countersunk bolts is that they won't pull out like a stud can. The mounts are 6 mm plate. The slots are 6.5mm wide and the keys are 3 mm Long. With a good root run plug weld, those suckers are not going anywhere.
  2. These were the original prototype ones that I tig'd up with the rubber under it.
  3. Yes on both counts Dale. The baffling pushes oil to the rear 2 scavenge ports under acceleration and to the front 1 under brakes. I have had a fair amount of input from a friend who has built and raced 2a sports cars. (Lemans style things) The mounts drop the engine down to the same or slightly lower height a 25. I will be using a 5 mm rubber pad under each of them. The turbos are td05's on a trust manifold.
  4. 7500-8000 depends on where the turbos run out I guess.
  5. I'm most curious to see what the experts think about the sump. I made it in consultion with a guy who has been building and racing sports cars for several decades.
  6. Working on it my friend. Aiming to have it all sorted for the Nissan/Datsun nationals at morgan park in April.
  7. Thoes who know me, this has been in the planning/works for a fair while. Time, money, other projects, life in general got in the way. Racing at lakeside in the sport sedan class just reinforced the fact I needed to pull finger and make it happen. Let's start at the top, the head was sourced from a workshop in Brisbane. It had been completely stripped because of a dropped valve in #1 and badly damaged. A normal person would pass it by but for what I had planned for it... it was perfect. Paul Gilbert from Gilberts cylinder head engineering at Southport have repaired the chamber which in it self was not that bad and ported to suit what is coming next. New valve seats throughout the head to suit the 1 mm oversize supertech valves, ferra springs (matched to the cams) titanium retainers and collets. Attop the valves are a ser of Tomei short skirt buckets and HKS type 2, 272 degree cams n wheels. The block is an na early holden derivative. It and 2 others were stripped and put out to season for a few years in the harsh Warwick outdoor environment. 1 has been selected and machined, 1 has been used as a dummy to manufacture brackets etc on an the other is still braving the elements. 88mm forged CP pistions and Spool rods with a cryogenic, match ground and nitrated crank. Making 9.2 compression ratio and a swept capacity of 3.101L. During the machining it was obviously washed, crack tested and so on. It was also modified for the head, restrictors and set up for a dry sump. Which brings up a question, how many people here have built a dry sump pan for a gtst?
  8. The changes made worked well at lakeside: however, I was in 4th and 5th for most of the lap there so whasn't much of a work load for the hub. The only time I had an issue was on a down shift when I messed the double clutch up with out enough revs.
  9. yep, She has had 2 years sitting in the corner. I picked up a levin on my last trip to Japan and, it has distracted me for a little while. There is a new motor in the pipeline, a pretty silly 26/30. It's all together on the engine stand ready to go in the front cut that came off the black 33 (from the aust titles) for a fit out for a custom dry sump, mounts, piping etc. Then Ill just swap it into the yellow 1. You have to race at Lakeside some day. It'll blow your socks off Duncan.
  10. There is a few people Ive spoken to in the last few days who have done similar things with good results. Tig welding extra material in at the top, machining it back to make a slipper pad has been a suggestion too. I spoke to a guy who worked on the groupA 32's, They used hollinger inturnals. We spoke to Hollinger not long ago about getting some gearsets made up for the Nc RX2's we run (Hollinger used to make them a few years back) but, they were not interested... unless we were going to order 1000 sets. I fear that the gtr stuff will be in the same basket. lol, and nissan are out of the stupid clips and 3/4 syncros....
  11. We have added an extra guide to the 3/4 selector fork, the thought is that the selector dog isn't supported propperly and can fall over. The extra guide might help maintain it in an upright position and take some of the load off the 3 clips. We will get this set back toghther and test it out at Lakeside this weekend.
  12. The shifter has an extension to the knob. Its about 50mm longer/ taller than a std knob position, slow shift kit of sorts.
  13. Z32 is the same. There were some up dates in late R34 boxes but, esentially the same.
  14. Perhaps it is just that Im a ham fisted monkey, but, I have been having trouble with the 3/4 cluster in my R33 gtst box. I find that the 3 tin clips that hold the selector dog fold the ends off if they get rushed. Then soon after they fall out and the dog doesnt mesh onto the syncro or gear making the shift clunky/grindy as all get out. Most other boxes have a solid blocker system, like the setup in the 1-2 cluster and is much more robust. Initially the tripple plate clutch was swapped out for a good single to reduce drag on the input shaft, which helped, but now that I'm giving the GT3's a hurry up at Morgan Park, I am pushing through the gears and tending to stress these clips and having to replace them every meeting. How do you guys fair with the clips? What did the old group A 32's do? They have the same gear set, we have actually have a 32 gtr gear set in at the moment. It was a cheeper option for a spare set on rotation.
  15. hey, do you still have the gearboxes?
  16. I have been looking at http://www.race-technology.com/language.php?url=%2F looks like they have some well priced data collection/dash type gear. Then again Im thinking I will go with a complete haltech dash and computer system in my new setup.
  17. the oler compound FZ201 compared to the newer range, I have lost about 3 sec/lap at both lakeside and morgan park on my initial 2/3 laps. I find them to be good value esp if i want to do longer runs but for sprints and hill climbs they are way too hard now and take far too long to get up to temp and grip. overall though I love my V70A's.
  18. I'll see what I can find on the weekend Harry,
  19. Only about 50hp, most gains have been in aero and suspension. These federals have such woweful grip i have put a lot of time into setup. LOTS OF TIME. As a result, mid corner speed os up 10-15 kph at carousel, hungry and estern loop. So looking forward to the new motor and better tyres. I have a little ae86 levin out of Japan. Ex TRD cup car, its only got 150 rwhp, 920kg wet with driver, punching out 60.8 sec. Its na1600 on webbers 225/50/15 V70A. Such a fin car to drive. Changing gears @ 8500-9200 rpm...ind bending.
  20. R33 GTST, 350 rwhp, Home made front splitter & Gt wing Lakeside 57.6 sec 232 kph into carousel 217 kph into hungry. F, 245/45/17 FZ201 R, 255/40/17 FZ201 QSTAR/Race chrono.
  21. So my 2A sports logbooked twin turbo 26/30 R33 GTST... Loolig at the eligibility list, they are all pretty std configured cars.
  22. When it comes down to a helmet, and god forbid a nasty accident, do you really want to put all your trust in a shitty no name plastic China special for $100? What is your life/brain and well being worth? More than a $100 special I hope.
  23. I have been playing with seats for a bit over 20 years. Lately I have made a few bead seats for single seat sportcars. I'm thinking about making a bead insert for the seat that has been in my 33 for a quite a few years now. Its an expensive option to add to a new seat, but I agree with Roy, if it isn't comfortable over a long stint, it doesn't or isn't fitted to you or your setup. Making the bead insert could help with the rigidity issues Duncan mentioned.
  24. First of all, huge congrats to Nev, the thing is a well sorted package. Nev enters that thing in street registed classes all the time in Qld events. Even though this has nothing to do with WTA, in my opinion, It does make a mockery of the intent of the class. Might be a dumb question, what is the point of having club sprint cars registed if cars like Nevs WRX is elligable?
  25. I took my street car last year.... Extinguisher, batt triangle, bonnet catch might be about the only things.
