let me know what $$$ you can get a set, for comparison.

The std calipers are a good thing in my opinion, just a matter of putting a good rotor in there with a good pad and a fluid that is up to the job. I've grown very fond of my DBA4000/Hawk HT10/sin600 combo. Will we see the beast in Warwick this year???

Hahaha, we'll just use the back bar with the rest of my mates.

Got the car to a meeting this weekend, last round of the Preston Peaks, Qld v NSW SuperSprint series at Carnell in Stanthorpe. Came 1st in class and 2nd outright. I got beaten by a WRX sportsedan, this is his run at bathurst hillclimb He set a new standing start super sprint 4 lap reccord, 2min, 19.57 sec. I got close.... 2min, 21.48sec. Not bad for a car that is my daily with a full interior. So with the series now over, I have won Imp prod over 3L and the series outright.

Good, I'll book a table for two!

wow, quick time at the lake. I'm guessing it hasn't been under water with all the rain that has been about. So who has entered for the Nats, BBQ at my house on the Friday night.... or the Palace Hotel, excellent food.

rings finally arrived yesterday.

I use an old MyChron with a beacon. I like it. A friend of mine has a new with track mapping, the whole shooting match, dash and all. He has found it very helpfull to overlay laps with different with different setups to compare and see how they compare. I like it too. Might get 1....1day.

So, Did you ring bill? if you did I hope it was after 8 pm! He is very particular about that.

While we are at it, there should be resisted, un-resisted and 4wd classifications as well.

I don't know any one in the sprints up here in the IP class that run a restrictor. I sure as hell don't. Would be nice to see a registered class too i think

I'm sad to say, the motor is out and in lots of pieces. Not for any bad reason like a spun bearing or anything like that. In a nut shell, the rings have been a concern of mine pretty much from the start. When I built it at Christmas, the Oil control rings just wouldn't sit properly, they would bind up to the point that they really didn't fit. I ended up using the old spring, 1 new scraper on the bottom and an old scraper on top. Not ideal but it got it all back together. This has played on my mind since the beginning. I have decided after an airlock overheating event, to replace the rings and head gasket (which was reused as well), and give everything a good look over. Every thing looks pretty good, excellent even, that is other than the rings, they definitely look 2nd hand. The bore is spot on, thank God. Te exhaust manifold has cracked in the same place, again, so I'm getting Mercury to make a new 1 for me, Just couldn't be bothered making it this time. What I have found is that ACL had ROSS in the US. make the pistons with an odd ring size, so you had to order through ACL to get new rings. Turns out that some one decided that was a dumb idea and changed the specs to a regular commonly available size of ring, ACL they no longer stock the odd size rings. Luckily ROSS do stock them.... I think, I've ordered a set in the hope they are correct for my pistons. The most confusing thing here is, there is only 1 part number on the pistons, even though there are 2 different ring specifications. Waiting for the postman takes soooooo long.

The classes do suck a fair bit of wang. Just about every other sprint series has recognized that 4wd cars have a distinct advantage over the rest of us and have put them in their own class. I'm going to enter my street/daily driver in the over 3L Improved Production class and, just see how many GTR's, Evils and WRX cheat machines fall behind! I'm guessing not many

I' putting an entry in, so I hope so.

I just got the regs for the state round this week. I will shout as soon as I hear or get anything. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I have a good size yard for camping and storage of cars. Camping at the track with the cars is always a good option along with many motels and BnB's too.

I'm out. There was 1 thing that I was not happy with when i was building the enigine, the rings just didn't quite sit right. They were a set by JE as ACL couldn't supply any rings for them. I have done 10,000 km on the new motor running 12-14 psi and have pulled it down as part of a diagnostic process. I wanted to see how the rings were doing in particular. The bearings, bore, buckets, cams etc are perfect, the rings though, "Not, Happy, Jan! uneven ware. I have done some homework over the last month, ACL changed the ring specs part way through the production run. So, there are 2 different ring sets for 1 pistion part number. You can't buy a ring set for the earlier spec pistions, I have the early spec pistions. I'm pretty sure they were made by ROSS in the US for ACL. Ross can supply a set of rings for us, will just take a while. Unfortunately I won't be compeeting, but I will be watching and snapping shots.

I have been running on the same size Kumho V70A's in the medium compound. I like them over the bridgestones.
-
Will be watching with interest.

I can't comment on the Dtc, but i have used the Ht-10's for the last 3 years and really like them. I find them to be very consistent over 12 laps @ Morgan Park which is apparently hard on brakes as there is not much down time for them to cool down.

So excited I need to post twice!!!!!

Funny thing is, it is. It belongs to "Operation Drag" which is a part of Blue Light. The aim of th car is part of youth at risk program which is runs in Warwick. Basically the kids enrolled in a Cert 1 mechanical course, they get to learn and work on the drift and drag cars. If they are performing well they get to come to these events as pit crew. A lot of the work that goes into building it has been voluntary and has taken about 3 years to get it to this point. The Birth of this thing has had a long teething process but, Its pretty well sorted now. Now we need to find a Police Officer that has the right credentials to learn to drift it. Thats the goal any way.

Before you think WTF is a commo doing here, It is more nissan than anything else. Holden body 5.7 gen3 with 6 speed tremec passenger seat & steering wheel. Nissan S14 rack S15 front hubs Bilstiens with S13 camber tops R33 calipers, and master R33 clutch master R33 cradle, hubs etc. Nismo GT-Pro Tien rear coilovers. R33 GTR sway bars. We took it to The King of drift event at QR on Sunday. It wasn't great, but was respectable. Its so f**king heavy, just slides way past the clipping point. I think 1/2 the problem was putting 18's on it for the day. Someone made a mistake and got 18's instead of 17's, lucky we had a set of rims to put them on. It felt like there was lots less grip from the 18's. Any how it was heaps of fun to drive. First Job of the day was to make sure that everyone had big offset, low skirts, RAUCOUS EXHAUST NOTE..... most passed Some times Jedi mind control is needed "I'm a 180.....No Police Car here" Track testing for driftability and safety is a prime concern at any event Mismatch wheels, Check, Carry on! No big silly wing? get back here Razor, I need a word with you!!! Moove it you big Wookie, GO FASTER!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOO More Somke Sammy, I know you can.
