  1. Also, probably not thermostat. Wax pellet type thermos almost always fail when fully open, not closed or half closed. If this happens, engine is most likely to be slow to warm up. Can cause other symtoms, but rare.
  2. 9.5 times out of 10, if you're not using water, of have none of the other symtoms you say you've checked, you have a partially blocked radiator core. To flush it properly, needs a bit of explanation. Needs to be "reverse flushed." Take it to radiator repairer. They have right equipment and shpuld'nt be very costly. If you MUST do it yourself, I'll [reluctantly] try to write a fair description.
  3. About a year or so ago when I got a 'defect notice' for my hks pod (which I wanted to change back to the factory box anyway because I didnt like the induction noise) I took it to a local RTA recommended blue slip mechanic and he laughed at me. He said no where in his "book of rules" does it even state you have to have an air filter connected let alone it must be boxed. He rang up the RTA to give them a hoot but the RTA guy that answered simply stated "anything that is non-factory fitted is a defect" ... end of story. By the time I got it cleared though I had already fitted the standard airbox so it was a simple 1min check and off I went back to the RTA. Not so, It'll only stop when ppl get up off the ground and refuse to be stood over. This "what can you do, it'll probably be me next, " attitude just invites being walked on. Start standing up, instead of crawling around on your knees.
  4. I've said it 100x and i'll say it again' date=' things will never change until the Police go back to fighting crimes (breakins, rape, bank robbers) and leave all the traffic offences to the RTA, I mean that's what we pay them for. It's a win win situation for us all.[/quote']
  5. Thanks, Fog lights removed from mine before I got it. I wondered about aftermarket, but it looked too much like all other switches and markings. Looked like had always been there.
  6. There was a set of [new] Kelly Chargers on my GTSt when I got it, just been complied. Tread looked OK, compound felt OK. I only put up with them for less than 1000k. If you ever come across a tyre dealer giving them away for free - Don't take them,unless you have a death wish { I sold them to a bloke with a Commodore.}
  7. Cut the wire, put a switch in, leave switch on, except when about to exceed 180.
  8. How do you think the one in there got bent? Probably a "proper" one is the same as he has, with different angle bends. How else do you raise the height? Magic?
  9. There's info on here somewhere, on how to disable the limiter!!!
  10. Ist, what 'Jordan ' said abt radiator caps is right. 2 nd., there is a fair chance there's nothing the matter. 3 all these things can be checked from outside. PRESSURE Check..In place of radiator cap, goes a guage, which seals where the cap seals. It has a hand pump attached. Pump up to required pressure, and watch guage. If it holds the pressure, without the guage dropping, it's OK. Any Radiator Repairer can do this. If there is a leak, then by various tests, you can isolate where it is, e.g., if you had a leak from #1 cylinded head gasket, into the water jacket, if, with the radiator cap off, and putting compressed air, via a screw-in fitting into the spark plug thread of #1 cylinder then air bubbles would be evident, looking into the radiator. And so on. There is no need for guesswork. There's prob nothing the matter with yours, but you would be surprised how many heating problems are eventually traced back to the radiator cap. Whenever in doubt, renew the cap FIRST, rather than last. I's quick and relativly cheap to try. ALWAYS fit the Proper recommended cap.. NEVER fit a cap with a lower pressure rating than original equipment. Good luck, it's prob OK
  11. Take it to anyone who bends tube. A small amount of extra bend , at each existing bend will give any [reasonable] amount of clearance you want . It will alter the amount of thread you use only a negligable amount. Just hold it in position, and visualise it, and you'll see what I mean.
  12. What do you mean - 'pumping it halfway round a corner'?
  13. No, I don't think so. It has 2 'on' positions, which EACH appear to do the same thing, AND each of those appear to do the same thing as the 'park' position on the light switch. That can't be, surely? The reason for the question, therefore, was that I assumed this is not standard, or the 2 position switch, also does some other function at the same time, which I'm not aware of? Anyone else got this switch? Does it do same thing mine does? Anyone??
  14. The thought of it almost has me moving to Darwin, and take a run down to Three Ways just for the hell of it. So long as your Water temp remains in range, and same with oil pressure, enjoy!
  15. 1992 GTSt, centre console, adjacent to bottom of handbrake, is a switch. It is a Centre off rocker switch, which matches the other switches,so looks standard. It has a "light" symbol and either side of centre is marked I & II. Each position turns on the dash and park lights, without use of Ignition Key. Looked in a couple of other GTSt s & have'nt seen it. Anyone know? Seems useless. as the same function is done with light switch on "park".
  16. Just did a re-calculation - more like 160 / 175, don't see a problem, used to do that and much more here in the other States in the '60s and 70s,for long distances, when it was legal, and those cars held together. RBs should do it easily.
  17. $ballin$, Did those revs work out to around 150 to 160 Kl per hr? You can do that in NT. Don't see why it should be any problem.
  18. Remove, clean and re-tighten Battery terminals. Remove Negative terminal, clean it and Battery post. LEAVE IT OFF. Remove positive terminal , clean terminal and Battery post. REPLACE it and tighten. Now REPLACE and tighten Negative terminal. Smile, get in car, start it and drive away!! If this does'nt work, examine other end of negative cable, for good Earth, before panicing.
  19. ali, maverick and others. Just so long as you realise that when the chips are down, your opinion does'nt matter, only the law. I see nothing the matter with ppl taking their own risks, so long as they know and are willing to wear the consequences. But - what about some massive pay-out that you just can't meet? Someone else, then, who did'nt volunteer for it wears the consequences?
  20. Even though I've told you not to worry, that it's not your fault, I'm afraid that ,for your own good, I'm going to have to stop responding, as you are getting too excited. This may well lead to you doing some harm to yourself. Should that happen, I would feel in some way responsible. Consequently, please be assured that whatever you say, is right. However you choose to spell something will be included in next year's school syllabus and become the new National standard. Go now into a nice darkened room, and have a good lie down and relax........relax........r e l a x ............There, is that better?
  21. Seeing they're both Skylines, how can you lose? I prefer the appearance of the GTSt. The 4 I think is less a target with the cops, because of it's more "sedan' look. Onthe other hand, I'd like the 4 door for convenience, though I prefer the look of the GTSt, but I'm almost you're age if we reverse the numbers. If I was in your place I'd have to have the GTSt, and do my own mods, and put up with the extra attention. Come to think of it, that's what I've done anyhow. That's a long way round to say, you've got to make up your own mind, is'n't it ???
  22. Hey, INASENT and Divhunter..............BE QUIET!!!!! Even if you're right, you can stuff it up by publicising it and/or boasting about it. If the "powers" think that sort of thing is rife, they're likely to legislate away the present relief measures. AND BEFORE anyone even thinks of signing a false Stat Dec., you better have a look at the penalties. Aunty might not survive them.
  23. C'mon, he wanted to know what best he could do, and remain at least reasonably on the right side of the law. Why not confine our comments to that. I, personally don't agree with what I believe to be over restrictive and overregulated approaches to traffic and vehicle matters -- If I want to take risks with that or push the limits, that's up to me and for me, and I wear any consequences. Does'nt mean I should give bad advice to someone else. Neither should anyone else. There, Ive had my winge for the day.
  24. I'll say what I meant to say, given time, I meant that the R32 GTSt would be the safer bet. There - Got it!!!
  25. THERE YOU ARE FROM A FELLOW VIC Good move , call Vicroads
