Mate, unless you go to whatever mob of bereaucrats who police this, what you're likely to get here, is sombody's opinion, which they may, in good faith believe is right. It may, however, lead you up the garden path. Of course, the R32 GTSt would be the safest bet of the 2, but try to find out officially.

When I lived in Sydney and owned a Morgan, I was a member of that Club for many years. I probably took part in just about every event of whatever type that was run. If I lived in or reasonably close to Sydney, 2 hours or so, I'd probably do the same with this Club. Have you, or will you consider a 'Country Membership Fee Structure' to make it more practical for us out-of-towners who really can't join in at all?

I agree with Sydneykid in what he says, and for you, what I said is OK. Not sure I would recommend the same thing for 4WD.

Don't believe it's legal, not to carry a spare. I'm not absolutely sure of that, check with RTA ['phone call'.] Even on the rear, it will be OK if you use care to drive s l o w l y, and a minimum distance. If necessary, stop for a bit ,say. every 1/2 to3/4 Kl. Better this than stuck completely in some place and in a Mobile dead spot. Will definately be OK if you use common sense. The diff does no more than it does when cornering, and on a track, the diff works a great deal of the time.

Anyone who is too critical of Chemiweld, does'nt know how it works, or what effect it has in engine block [no bad or 'blocking'effects] This is a valid critisism of a number of similar products. That said, it's not meant as a radiator repair. I don't know for sure, but it may work on some current 'alloy' cores, but it definately will not seal a brass core. Unless they've recently changed the formulation, it says clearly in the instructions, that it's NOT for radiator repairs. Don't constru these remarks as a general approval of 'leak repair goos' generally. I agree that not a good thing except emergency repairs, and then everything needs a thorough clean out to be sure you're rid of it all.

Both too close to the Antarctic , to be too similar to the Mediterranean {that's 1 't' and 2 'r's} climate. As there is only one correct way to spell Mediterranean, there is only one correct meaning of GT, even though it may make no difference to the understanding of either. As I said, try not to feel bad about it, you're not to blame.

Well apparently it's like Mark Twain and the weather "everybody talks about it, but nobody does anything about it"

On another thread, from Melbourne, another suggests I'm on acid. I've worked out both of your problems, - It's the weather - nobody can be expected to be reasonable living in a climate like that. Please don't worry about it anymore - you're not to blame. Perhaps U2 may consider getting married?

Should have made lots of sense to someone who would sign "I'd rather die on my feet th.................................." I've got to use 2nd to get up to 160 in my driveway, it must be shorter than yours [length does'nt matter anyhow.]

I don't mind at all, if you have a problem understanding, not even a teenie little bit.

slave cylinder and gearbox question
Jax replied to V-Spec's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The reverse noise you describe, if I understand you properly, I think is quite normal. Try it in someone else's car [any sort] and see if you get similar feel and sound. Second symptom appears maybe to be clutch thrust bearing, but may not be a disaster. Not a good idea to rev engine with clutch pedal down. Thrust bearings are not 'high-speed' bearings, being primarilly designed to operate at around idle revs. When clutch pedal down, thrust bearing does engine revs. -
There are currently 2 Threads, where people are in trouble, in NSW, having been booked by Traffic [ Highway Patrol] police, for "off standard" systems, which appear to comply under RTA rego requirements. One has an Engineering Cert as required, and additionly, the same system has been 'defect cleared' by different Police. To get up to speed on this, read the threads "Cops & engineer's certificates, in GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE DISCUSSION, and, " Advice needed - Received a Ticket For Exhaust".,in the NEW SOUTH WALES forum. On the surface, this appears to be a 'no win' situation, BUT IT'S NOT. I'd be very surprised if these are the only 2 cases affecting members of these forums. Certainly, drivers can be picked off one-at-a-time fairly easily by these types of actions. It cannot be a co-incidence that 2 Highway Patrol officers, under different police districts, are both carrying around copies of the same legislation, and are both dismissive, in a very similar way, with similar statements, of the RTA requirements, and of Engineers Certs, or even Defect clearances. It is fairly obvious to me, that this is an organised effort, either NSW wide, or at least through a number of Police Districts. Whilst I believe that these bookings can be beaten in Court, and I have provided private advice to one of the victims in this regard; this is a time consuming and expensive undertaking, if success is to be assured. On this note, I have been asked [quite rightly] is it worth it for a $200 fine? On the surface, you'd have to say, no. Where, however do you draw the line? If no lines are ever drawn by people who are treated unfairly by persons or groups in authority, then that is an open invitation for them to do the next thing and the next, and so on. Just look around the world to see what that submissive attitude can lead to, and whether you'd like to live that way. Indeed, just look at our own traffic laws to see the result of apathy. Try introducing on-the-spot fines for even minor criminal matters and see all the Civil Liberties mob in full cry. It is accepted for Motorists almost as if they are already known to be criminals because they have a licence. It's just that each of them have'nt been caught yet. There are a number of things which can be done, which,in reality, are fairly simple and effective. In the past, I've actually succeeded in having both State and Federal Legislation changed. Try to be clever, rather than loud and angry, be persistant, and see what and who you can use. On that last point, here's what we can start doing. NOW. 1. Anyone else who has been caught up in this, or knows someone who has, then post it HERE. 2. Any of you who are, or could be affected [by the nature of your exhaust system, AND are a member of the NRMA,- contact them, find out who handles these sort of matters [someone in NRMA does] and send them all the details and get them working on it. 3.Anyone who has been booked for this, even if you've already paid fine, make an appointment to see your State Member of Parliament, and ask them to investigate and make representations on your behalf 4. CAMS Any members of CAMS, or, indeed especially the Club, take the matter to CAMS. The law, interpreted like this will affect virtually EVERY registered Rally Car!!! 5. Anyone think of anyone else? What about your local Radio Station? Do they have a 'talk back' program? If so try and involve the local Police. Get them some publicity they could do without!! Come on now - What else? Everybody up!!!! You stay down there and you'll be walked on.

Fellers, See also New South Wales Forum "Advice Needed - Received a ticket for Exhaust" I have sent him a PM, re how to best fight this. This is rediculious, we should find some way to get to-gether on this. These impossible to comply with differences have got to be resolved. The Police are Police, not Gods, not infallible and not unable to be beaten.

It was SHRUB32 I was taking issue with, I just could'nt resist the "entrepeneur'. Like that, -GT only stands for one thing.

Cable or no cable, does'nt matter, there's no direct connection. The Toyota Dealer was talking B/S. Wish all you sticklers for the law would turn down the brightness on your halos. The glare is hurting my eyes. At least flick on to low beam. Please?

Intermittant Spark Plug misfire?

Know what the translation is. Encyclopaedia of Motor Cars says that GT on badges = Gran Turismo. It translates nicely into English, but it still means Gran Turismo in Yiddish or Kurdish, or Cantonese, where it would'nt translate so neatly. Therefore it is always, correctly Gran Turismo. [Like entrepeneur is always entrepeneur, even if it translates nicely to another word in another language, starting with an "e".]

Mate, being in the right will not get you through. Have you responded in any way, yet, or just not paid the fine? Really, you're on a SURE winner, BUT, you've got to do it right. You can just as easy lose, being right, it's what and how you do it that matters. Courts are about the law, and consider only that which is put before them. No moral questions of right or wrong involved. I wish I could change places with you. A piece of cake. We should find a way to talk, believe me.

Just been reading more throughly, some of the other comments.. DON'T get into the business of presenting Engineers Certs, Defect clearances, Emission or noise readings, etc. Don't, for christs sake. INSIST that the prosecution must first make a case, by presenting EVIDENCE to back up any allegation . Don't offer to prove anything. If they can't present evidence, there IS NO CASE to answer. If any lawyer tells you different, get another one. Should, for any silly reason the magistrate rules against you, you have a PERFECT appeal.
