  1. Your're getting the VG and the VQ series(alloy block) mixed up.. And I have seen a VG30 in a 180. Also my mate had a VQ30 in a Laurel. Was a nice fit. Banzai motorsports recently bought it as a project car. I've heard rumors of that VQ30's are lighter than RB25's. Also the single stock turbo of the VQ being of steel wheel config gives the possibility of 220rwkw But yeah any V layout engine in an S13 will probably create under bonnet temp issues.
  2. Your mate and the Big R is right.. Not only is the RB25 heavier but it locates the weight further forward of the crossmember. A VQ30 on the other hand
  3. Don't know how helpful this is to the topic.. My RB25 blew an oil hose and was ran without oil to the point of the exhaust cam seizing. It still runs fine on 4 cyls with an A/M ecu on base maps I will be pulling it down to check the bearings and give it a freshen up at the same time. Head is goneskis though.
  4. Looks pretty good mate.. needs some lowering and a kit to finish it off. Will be doing the same to my mates Laurel but with satin black.. Damn toll gate arms
  5. Actually I think I remember seeing 13 VIP style Works.. Offset coupled with width is what determines the amount of dish you get. Mine have a -1 offset
  6. Depends what you are doing with your guards really.. If you are buying new you can ask for custom width and offsets. My rears are 18x11 Works Have smoothed over bolt on guards front and rear. 2nd hand the widest 18's I've seen is 12 wide. Wich are meant for wide body GTR's with Veilside kits or the like.
  7. Not after you replace the stock RB25 twice before you would the 1J
  8. See cheap http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...0entry2293230
  9. yeah I have an OS.. feint ringing sound.. If you have a loudish exhaust you are unlikey to notice it Absolutely love it to bits... Don't know what all the pansys are on about 'streetable' clutches lol
  10. No worries mate .. Also DR30 wrecks come up now and again on FJ20.com
  11. R31skyilneclub is your best bet.. Otherwise I know where to get them new for close to wholesale
  12. Have you tried cleaning it?
  13. Was it a light blue one? Was around 14k if I remember correctly.. Don't quote me though Oh and I have details of a metallic black.. LEATHER with woodgrain. suarvest Ceffy interior I've ever seen... manual rb20det 12k I think.. There was like 4 for sale at drift nats lol
  14. Thats what I was about to say.. Makes me want to yack
  15. yeah this is a beast.. nice work mate.. Does it pull hard? What spec TO4e is it? That bloke had beaf axe S12 for sale too.
  16. Did you use the same internal diameter hose to replace it?
  17. Now thats a pod filter!! LOL Fark that would be loud in cabin
  18. Ouch Funny thing is it still runs on 4 cyls with an Aftermarket ECU on base maps If the bottom end does indeed have the RB26 bits it would be great if I could re-use them later down the track..
  19. Due to fools spamming up this topic.. This is what the so called 'Elctronic Supercharger' looks like -It has no fan -It does not make boost -It does not restrict the inlet passage This is the $999 version
  20. Please keep any ghey external electric supercharged 2 PSI hoo-ha out of this thread!! Due to the name 'Electronic Supercahrger' I was under the impression that this actively raised amp/volts or the like I have no clue about electrics if you have'nt guessed It's obvious there is no viable reason for them to be asking the stupid amounts of $$$.. But could someone go into more detail how these are meant to work and what benifits can be had?
  21. The story goes that the oil line to the remote filter broke, unbeknown to the driver wich lead to the exhaust cam ceasing, and eventually the timing belt snapping, and we all know what happens then. I have some questions regarding what to salvage from the engine. Should I be worried about the condition of the bottom end if it was let to run without oil to the point that the Exhaust cam ceased? will I be able to re-use the East Bear 1.8mm aftermarket head gasket? If I can salvage the bottom end, the new head will require decking as well I guess? I'm unsure if any other internal work has been carried out.. Possible RB26 rods and crank :
