My Introduction / What Type Of Oil Should I Use / High Idling
MrStabby replied to Bartjan's topic in General Maintenance
Agreed. I like Mobil M1. For the high idle, I had a very high idle both cold and hot when i first got the car, and performing the idle learning procedure fixed it but I dont know if it will help in your case. It was difficult to get it to trigger.... You might need to create an account for this link; http://m35stagea.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=206&sid=6e695677a13eeadf8a8c47b2f2c9d542 The scanner probably wont work. They call OBDII a standard but that seems to be a very generous interpretation of the word "standard". You'll probably need a Consult 3 or 4 to read it. -
IIRC the 3.5s have more bottom end and more top end, and the 2.5 turbos have more midrange. Might be worth driving both to see which you prefer.

Sorry, no idea. On one hand I cant see why Nissan would not use the same parts, but on the other hand RHD usually show all the models that are compatible, so if HCR32 is not there, you'd want to get confirmation from FAST before ordering. Or just contact them; Email sig for RHD has email address. Old 26 injectors often leak through the body. I had this and did pretty much what GTSBoy suggested - Nistune + some new 550 Seimens injectors. Wrote a DIY on it - link is in my sig.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
MrStabby replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah go 10.5in all round on a GTR - otherwise you just make an understeery car more understeery, and you're potentially giving yourself attessa problems (unless you get the tyre circumference right). I have 10.5 +25s all round. With 265s there's a little scraping at the back. Remember tyre size is usually where you get the problems, not rim size. You might get away with +15 but you'd have to roll the rears. I'd be pretty sure most people would prefer at least +20. Also check back a few pages in the thread (or search), pretty sure that 10.5/+15 setup has been mentioned before. -
Nismo Caster Bush Installation
MrStabby replied to Gts-t's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The 52mm wide Nismo bushes are made for the Nismo radius rods. Almost certain they wont fit in stock rods. Maybe Nismo make a bush for the stock rods too? OP measure the width of the metal sleeve, if its <52mm you should be ok. Edit: Doh 2WD is different. -
Eating Before/after Exercise - Weight Loss And Recovery
MrStabby replied to MrStabby's topic in Health & Wellbeing
Thanks everyone. FWIW I outsource my understanding of contentious science (like climate change and nutrition) and just go with what Dr Karl is saying, because I like the way his brain works. For weight loss, the only thing that's strongly supported by science is eating less calories (assuming excise is constant). Stuff like timing of meals and type of food is less well supported. Since skipping lunch is easy for me to achieve, I think its more useful to me than trying to do the lots of small meals thing, which is less strongly supported by the science and, for me, in unlikely to be something i'll stick to. So the effort/payoff doesn't make sense for me. Has anyone heard about the "dont eat for an hour after workout if you want to loose weight" idea? I'm concerned that doing that would compromise recovery. Edit: Interesting that eating every two hours didnt work for you Ravi - I think ill continue to discount that unless there's some strong science to support it. I have a feeling that the slowing metabolism from fasting thing is also way overstated. 5/2 diet is working for a number of people i know, and you would think it could trigger slowing metabolism, if that's really a thing. -
Did you have a 10W-40 in there before or something heavier? Generally lighter oils should make a tiny bit more power and be a tiny bit more fuel efficient.
-
Do you mean Liqui-Moly 10W-40? Its German and well respected. Don't judge an oil by its colour. You can't draw any conclusions from colour. For example. oil that looks black after use may just be doing a good job of cleaning the motor's insides.

Eating Before/after Exercise - Weight Loss And Recovery
MrStabby replied to MrStabby's topic in Health & Wellbeing
I do 45-60mins of weights then a little cardio. No specific goals other than too keep loosing weight, but bulk/strength is always good. I've stopped eating lunch and that is working well to loose the weight, and i'm not finding it very difficult. I'm only a bit overweight but have some medical conditions that mean i need to be more careful with weight than most people. -

Hi All, can someone give me a guide to what i should eat (or not) before and after exercise? Is there some trade off between weight loss/work out intensity/recovery? Eg if i eat simple carbs before would that help with energy level during a workout, but also mean i don't get into a fat burning phase?

In for this please. -
Yes the new gas can be used in the old system, though its typically less effective. The axillary fan on always with AC on is a good mod. http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/153378-r32-have-your-overheat-fan-turn-on-with-your-ac/ Concur with sleptema - seals first and see if it leaks.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
MrStabby replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
FYI, 32 GTR running 350mm front 340mm rear heights. Trial fit of 265/35s on 18x10.5 +25 has gone well, no apparent scraping on road test. Rear guards were rolled a few years back for different rims (255s on 17x9 +20) -
Yeah 16psi at 4000rpm seems normal for -7s so there's definitely something going on with your setup. Upping pre-load seems like a reasonable first step in diagnosis (since its free ). Just check that their operation is synchronised with a hand pump after the adjustment.
-
Agree with all the above. Measure the resistance of the mag clutch solenoid. On the 32 GTRs it should be 3.5 ohms, I imagine it would be the same on yours. If its much lower than 3.5 it will pull too much current and blow the fuse. When mine went I found info on here that they can be re-wound, but i just got a good second hander.

R32 Gtr Year Model Differences/improvements
MrStabby replied to livewire's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
To be pedantic, its just oil pump drive. You only need the collar if you are fixing an early crank. -
Was that photo taken before Police could establish what was happening? Did he then stay away from the windows, with victims holding up flags in the windows, because he was worried about getting sniped? The only story i heard was that he had a sawn off double barrel shot gun. If that's the case, then he was only ever likely to kill two people.

Your system requires a way to quickly and accurately establish intent. How would you do that?
