  1. Okay after much reading and research and conversation i've decided on the HKS GT-RS. Good resale and i've read nothing but good reports. Nengun has a package with PowerFC + 740cc Injectors + turbo kit, which i know a few people on SAU have installed in their cars already, with good results. My concern is re: injector size. I'm consistently getting told 550cc is plently for my needs. Having the overhead with the 740cc ones is fine, but a few shops have mentioned that the idle will be better with the 550cc ones. The co$t between the two sizes is negligible Does anyone have the 740cc injectors running, or know someone that does. any problems? This will be a daily driver battling peak hour traffic regularly so it is concerning I've read every injector thread i could find and this issue is never mentioned. (maybe it's not much of an issue??) I'm looking at getting this done in the next month(s) and will be sure to post dyno results etc for anyone else considering this path. Cheers guys
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah i've got mods both sides of the engine, and have the stopping/handling side of things fairly well sorted aswell. Been thinking of getting some bolt-ons for the engine for a while now, and i finally (read: a few years!) feel i know the car's limits well enough to strap on some extra kilowatts Never ordered through Nengun before, but through a similar site (Taka Kaira). I'd be expecting 2 weeks or so for delivery?
  3. I'm seriously considering throwing some $$$ into my car. Been doing a LOT of reading, and i've pretty much settled on this list of goodies. Car at the moment has stock ECU and stock turbo/cooler, as in sig. Engine appears to be healthy, it's just clicked over 100,000 and had all belts/pump replaced etc etc. 1) Z32 AFM ~$250-300 2nd hand or $400 new Nengun 2) Genuine Hybrid FMIC with piping $800 autospeedbits.com.au (delivered) or $700 no-name with piping justjap.com (delivered) 3) Apexi Power FC $950 group buy SAU or $1050 Racespec or $954 Nengun 4) Injectors SARD 550+ Collars $930 nengun or Nismo 550 $890 nengun 5) Turbo GCG Hiflow $2000 [EDIT: now HKS GT-RS] 6) Beefy Fuel Pump *tick* Mk4 supra 7) Heavy duty clutch *tick* ?? 8) Fuel pressure reg eg $150 Nismo nengun TOTAL $4050 + ?injectors + labour/tune --> $5000-6000 complete, give or take a bit. Bearing in mind i would be installing the PFC and FMIC myself, and then probably get it trailered to a shop with a turbo and injectors and get them to make it go I want a bolt-on turbo without too much fussing around and i thought the GCG would be a good way to go for cost and ease of fitting. a few questions for those that have done this before... a) Will i need injectors? it seems that i will. b ) Will i need a fuel pressure regulator? c) Rough power - is 240rwkw reasonable or would 220rwkw be more likely? and finally, d) Would it be better to source parts and get them in, or get a shop to sort parts for me? I've heard so much conflicting information. I'm not set on getting "rice" name parts; they are just what came up on a quick price hunt for initial costing. If i've left stuff out i'll try and add it in. Thanks for your ideas/opinions/criticisms, B
  4. Interested in this too. Last i heard it wasn't able to be done, it was strictly new cars only
  5. For the R33 GTST - i know the JustJap intercooler kits require some front bar trimming... do they also require fan blades to be trimmed?
  6. For the R33 GTST intercooler kits - do they require trimming of front bar and/or fan blades?
  7. Bridgestone GIII's Had them on for a week and done a few hundred km on them. 235/45 17 So far very impressed. Noisy tyre at 40-50km, but at 60 you can't hear them. Grip - amazing. Cornering is spot on, very predictable handling, and corner speeds are noticeably higher (based on some well-known laps in an industrial area). Wet performance was solid, really had to try to lock them up, which was dead easy on previous rubber. I'd give them an 8-9/10 overall, but i've never driven on S-03's or T1-R's or the like to compare. Previous tyres have been Simex (i'd rate them a 4/10) and k104's (6-7/10)
  8. I've got pretty much everything Whiteline for an R33 SII. (whiteline works kit with bilsteins + recently purchased front camber kit) Very happy with the results. Managed to scrub out tyres very efficiently as the front camber was a bit over -2degrees initially. My advice - do it all properly the first time and save yourself money in the long run.
  9. I've been running 10-12 psi for a few years with no problems so far. Same mods as you. A lot of people have said it's generally "safe" to go up to 14 or so without having the stock turbo cack itself. I've given it a go a few times but it feels like it's "choking" and is actually slower than at 12psi. Maybe that's the stock intercooler doing its thing??
  10. Due to unfortunate work rostering I'm unable to go to the grand prix I have TWO tickets, adult, general admission, for $85 each (normally $99), and i've got a stack of catering vouchers aswell (about $40 worth) that i'll throw in aswell. melbourne people only, and you'll have to come to heidelberg to pick them up. If anyone's interested pls email me [email protected] or call/sms 0411802806 would be great if someone can help me out and cut my losses Thanks, Adam...
  11. Thanks heaps for the tips lads!
  12. I'm from perth.... so i'm still learning where *everything* is over here shop-wise. anyways, i've got the whiteline works kit on my r33, which i got just before i left home..... after playing with it a little, testing out the car at the limit (prolly more mine than the car's!) i still feel like it snaps into oversteer very dangerously. looking for a good place to set it up, as well as alignment etc etc that would be familiar to these kits. I'm in Heidelberg. Thanks! B
  13. Breaks all the way!!!!! Was into DnB a few years back, still listen to it now and then, but found the gigs to be full of 16-18yo ppl and, well, hey i don't quite fit into that mold any more:( But find me qwality breaks and i'll be there will bells on. and maybe a pair of trainers. Nubreed tomorrow night = :Bang: :headspin:
  14. Dave - pls let me know if you are going, would love to meet up! and where is the finest breaks in this town??
  15. Well if any of you feel like taking a new melbourne citizen (ex Perth) under your wing for a night out, hey let me know!!!! coz i have no idea where to go out here.. more into the prog/breaks or tek thing, but don't mind a beer or ten either. Will be at Room 680 next weekend for dave seaman, and colonial this weekend for Nubreed of anyone wants to meet up Adam
  16. Hmmm i think the copious amounts of citrus might be safer?
  17. Although i do own a skyline I'll be quick. My name's Adam, I'm 27, i'm from Perth and i know hardly anyone here in Melbs. I'm here for at least a few years. I'm dying to get out and about, pubs/clubs/legal/or not/choose your own adventure/blah blah blah... erm. yeah. you get the general idea. if i keep going it'll read like one of those sad personal ads in the paper. So if anyone out there has it in their hearts to welcome an up-for-it lad into their crew for a few random nights, or even those not so random, i'd really appreciate it. Have met a few great people here so far, but of course always looking to meet more!! And dying to get out and have a bit of a groove or a few cold beers with some fun people. PM me, email me, whatever. Large hairy gay men looking for a f$ck buddy need not apply..... Cheers guys (and girls) Aa
  18. Same(ish) - sst dyno i got 254rwhp. stock turbo and cooler, K&N filter in std box, otherwise same as seriesIIGTST now in melbourne i got 160rwkw at complete auto with a sick fuel pump, apparently it was leanign out lots at the top end. so yeah 160-180kw sounds fair
  19. "m" mode - you don't want that. that uses a MAP sensor which you probably don't have! when you turn on ignition, should just have "warn" at the bottom and a number 1 thru 4 at the top. also "peak" at the left hand side. i don't use scramble boost at all. the geocities link in this thread is what i used to set mine up, print it off and sit in your car and have a fiddle mine does show positive pressure... when negative it's in kPa, when positive it's in bar. something doesn't sound right in your setup i'm afraid. never blanks out at all. let me know how you go.
  20. yeah i'm stock cooler and turbo aswell, with 3 inch system and "high flow" cat, if there is such a thing. i T'd the boost guage for the EBC into the line from the manifold to the fuel reg... i'm told though this is a bit of a no-no because if the hose splits or comes off, your fuel supply gets all f#%&d up and you can do some serious damage to your internals!! so will probably change that when i get my car back. vindicator - maybe if you could put up some photos of your plumbing we might have an idea if it's right or not. but i'm no expert!!! i installed mine myself with the help of photos from Mr GTST in WA.. his worked and so did mine he might still have them if you PM him.
  21. I don't have my car at the moment.. but from memory run gain at 15, and i have my 4 settings at 15, 25, 35, 45. setting 3 gives about 0.8 bar, setting 2 about 0.65 bar on my car. put gain up too high and you get huge boost spikes, too low and it takes forever to reach full boost. from 10-20 gain seems to work on the ones i've seen. try that. of course that's with the mods in my sig. if you have no dump/exhaust done you might need to up those numbers a little to compensate for the lower airflow.
  22. if you want something cheap - me and my bro recently put an alpine 400 series amp driving two alpine 10" subs into his silvia. easily as loud as the two 12's in mine, just not as "penetrating" i guess. i use a rockford amp, for him we grabbed a second hand jobbie for less than $300 from cash converters! they are guaranteed for 3 months, he's had it over a year now with no dramas. they cost about 800 new for what we bought. something to think about if you're on a tight budget. otherwise kicker make some decent cheapish amps (audiocom sells them) and some of stratfield car radio's more expensive amps i've seen good results with. you get what you pay for though, i'm sure everyone knows that!!

    Help!

Yep have a SAFC and the same problem happens when it's on or when it's in "omit" mode, so we've ruled that out. fuel pressures are ok, seems to be something electircal coz it cuts out for a few seconds on the freeway then comes back to life. still makes good power on the dyno when it's behaving, which is becoming less and less frequently. it's an intermittent problem, making it even more annoying. *sigh* anyways, wish me luck, and thanks for the help guys. and say hi if you see a WA-plated silver r33 around!
  24. Beeble
