lol or the Singapore tramline interference story. Even so, it's not like a driver goes out of their way to sabotage their own title tilt, and it still highlights the fact that whilst Kimi got lucky and was handed the 2007 championship, he was still a worthy winner. Just like Lewis is this time around.
-
He had an electronic glitch which wouldn't allow him to select gears properly. He lost about 40 seconds in that race. Do some research because obviously, you didn't watch that race. I'm making a point (pardon the pun) that even GOOD drivers, that people in this thread quite obviously have bias towards, get lucky to get them over the line. Kimi had the title handed to him last year by Hamilton screwing up in China and the gearbox glitch in Brazil in 2007. This year, Hamilton was more unlucky than lucky, like Kimi was, as Ferrari were the beneficiaries of most of Lewis' penalties (many of which were dubious in any F1 fan's eyes). Doesn't make him any less or more deserving than Kimi was last year.
-
The people here who are paying out Hamilton for defending his title lead and being conservative in the latter races are the same people who condemn him for being aggressive. Make up your mind. As did Kimi last year...to a rookie. I'm sure you weren't telling people to not get too carried away about that. If it weren't for bad luck with the gearbox last year in the final round at Interlagos, he'd have 2 WDC's out of 2 attempts. Give the guy credit where it is due. He's got the job done this year despite all the unusual penalties handed to him this season.

yeah really feel sorry for DC...would have been good to see him do doughies at the end of the race!

Nah, I think that guy was a ginger kid. Double LOLs if it is though! Best gif ever!
-
Both toyota's ran similar times on the final lap....not exactly easy to coreograph when going that slow and matching times to the second
-
I lol'd. That was karma at its best! Lewis did what he had to do this week and whilst the FIA did a Ronald Biggs to him all year He's only going to get better now

COME AND GET YOUR COOGEE BAY SPECIAL HUMBLE PIE! GENEROUS SERVES FOR FERRARI FANS! LEWIS IS NUMBER ONE, BABY!

5 championships in 8 years leading up to his F1 career, finishing 2nd in his rookie season in F1 equaling the points of the reigning world champion in the same car...I think he's proven his worth enough not to have to drive for a team like Force India. Only an envious idiot (yes, that means you) would criticise him because he hasn't driven for a lower rung team in F1.

Hamilton by 0.39 over Massa, Kimi and Heikki. Let's see what happens in the sessions to come
-
...and you don't see that happen in 9/10 races and go unpunished? The stewards seem to be setting precedents with penalties this year which will come back to haunt them. As for Massa on Bourdais, Bourdais' quote says it all - “I don’t know what I was supposed to do basically. I could have unrolled the red carpet and given him the corner. That is the only thing I could have done.” I don't even like Bourdais!
-
It was Heikki that made contact with Kimi, not Lewis. Even KR has stated that.

I actually thought Lewis would get penalised for turn 1...but what he did was not worthy of the same penalty as Massa shunting Lewis (which i personally think was a deliberate move by Fag-lipé). Massa should have been given a stop-go for that. I also can't believe Bourdais got penalised...when it was massa that tagged the STR's REAR wheel. Once again he's come out and said he's done nothing wrong in both incidents, whilst Lewis has accepted blame for his turn one mistake, highlighting a point i made earlier in this thread. I am now totally convinced F1 is crooked. I will continue to watch just to see Lewis win the championship against all odds.

That's not Lewis' dad and the woman is Miss Universe...

Schumacher was in F1 for 16 seasons, Hamilton has been here for 2. You're comparing an old hand's character with a complete F1 rookie. He's worked hard and earned his place at McLaren and is doing what most F1 drivers wouldn't dare to dream of doing in their first years in F1. He'll be older and wiser as time goes by. You can already see massive changes in his approach to everything compared to last year. Ferrari may have been an also ran at the time, but it was never crappy. They more or less brought the brains trust behind Benneton's dual WC winning team to Ferrari. It wasn't just the driver, it was the design concepts and ideas that came with it that made the team. Funnily enough, Benneton fell by the wayside as Ferrari grew stronger.

Personally, I see massa as a whinger...win or lose, he never accepts blame for anything he has done and is quick to criticise any other driver for misdemeanours. That's what really irks me about him, Kimi on the other hand, I have no issue with (except that he is a traitor! ). As for the Schumacher comment, I agree with the fact schumacher was much worse with his on track aggression, however, I don't believe Lewis is or ever will be as bad as Schumacher because he became bigger than the team around him. Lewis on the other hand is on a tighter leash and has the team keeping a lid on things. I wouldn't say he has poor interpersonal skills, every interview i have seen with him he has been frank with a let's move on mentality when he's believed he's been on the wrong end of a decision. I guess if you have a negative view of someone you will invariably see them that way regardless of what they do. Also, I think Lewis proved in his first year that he doesn't have a need for a weaker team mate. To be beaten by a bee's dick in the same car by the reigning world champion proves that point. If anything he's probably been hindered this year by having Heikki being less competitive than the Ferrari's as he hasn't been taking points away from them.

The same type of know-it-all fans were around when Schumi was doing his thing. Happens whenever someone is doing well. Next it will be Vettel or Kubica fans. An F1 fan has to start somewhere and the rise of Lewis', and that of Kubica, Vettel and Massa, has been fantastic in bringing new people to the sport. As for ITV's coverage, they are catering to the BRITISH audience, not the worldwide audience. They've always given more time to Jenson Button in the past (even though he is probably the most useless driver out there), DC and so on. In Australia, Webber gets coverage on every news report on F1 and whenever channel 10 allow Greg Rust and Cam McConville a hand on the mic, even though his results aren't much to write home about. I'm a Lewis fan and I've probably been watching F1 for 15+ years. If it weren't for Lewis, I probably would have given up on F1 as it was becoming predictable and boring since Hakkinen left. Bring back the Hakk!

Apparently there's only one way, and it's the Ferrari way, so I'll leave this thread alone for now. But I'll be back with serves of humble pie later.

JYS said that because it has been common practice in the past when the incident has had no bearing on the race result. If the rulings were so black and white, Massa would have copped a time penalty 2 rounds ago for the pit lane incident. The stewards took into account that the infringement had no real bearing on the race result and issued the team with a fine. Same kind of situation is happening here.
-
He made the chicane, Kimi gave him the squeeze which is fair enough, so he took evasive action. It happens all the time, yet penalties are rarely given. Had kimi not been there, Lewis would have been fine through that corner, it's quite obvious that even witht he wide line he had control until kimi ran wider than the normal line would be. Only the most one eyed of Ferrari fans could possibly see it the way you are.
-
For toyota and Timo it is...he was up to add another point to his tally! Not something Toyota would be impressed with
-
In case you didn't notice, Lewis yielded...Kimi was able to accelerate past him. Kimi was 6kph faster than Lewis over the finish line. Clearly he had better acceleration down the straight Kimi gained a heap of time running on the more coarse run off surface on blanchimont...it was quite visible even with the naked eye. Did he have better acceleration than lewis once he re-entered the track? Yes. Did he yield to make the distance the same as it was prior to his "excursion"? No. Did he get penalised? No. Kimi even took the lead 3 times after the incident so he was never disadvantaged by it, nor did Lewis gain from it. This kind of incident happens at every track with chicanes and even more so in the wet, yet it seems the severity of the penalty depends on which car you happen to be driving. Recently, I recall a similar thing happening where it was deemed by the stewards that the cut course did not affect the result of the race and therefore the driver would not be penalised.

Funny that Lewis was able to make up 2 seconds in the space of a few corners once the rain came down. He was right on Kimi's gearbox on the approach to bus stop. If you aren't blind you would have noticed Kimi could not get traction down pit straight. Is that Lewis' fault now? Was LH meant to slow down more and wait for Kimi to get his shit together? Puhlease.
