Just to let you guys know, this day is still going ahead. The guys are still discussing the cost of hiring the track. At the moment it looks like a Drift and Grip day but no track timing equipment is being used (you'll have to bring your own). The more people that enter from Canberra, the more often this event can be run.

These are all the photos i took of the day... I was driving. Surely someone has go some more! I was pretty heart broken when we were told it would be a wet pan day last time, Today was a Much better day! Big thank you to James (DriftGTS) for lending me his wheels and tyres to get home!
-
Yeh, wet skid pan was kinda boring.... Actually, I do have another issue. I have paid for my CAMS club membership, but I am yet to receive my New Card or sticker with the new expiry date. Is this going to be a problem?

I'll turn up and decide on the day...

I can only recommend going to a Skid pan session atleast once before going on a dry track. Everyone learns and develop differently. You might go out on the track and be able to drift straight away, while some others will just understeer all day! The first thing i can recommend with the technique is to just try and power out of the corner or kick the clutch. It is easy to do and you don't need entry speed. As you get better, you'll probably start earlier and earlier. This is the approach I am taking as I am still learning as well.

My first time was at Wakefield, it was really fun even though i hardly got the car sideways. If you've never gotten sideways before, i'd recommend going to a skid pan first but I have a feeling a few people have "accidentally" lost some traction in the wet... What profile tyres? The date that has been advised is July 13.

G'day all, Just letting you guys know nice and early that IDA are planning to organise a Drift Practise Day at Wakefield park, Goulburn. No other info yet besides the proposed date - Sunday, July 13. It's a awesome track to drift, heaps of different types of corners and it's big enough to let a large group out at one time without crowding the track. Plenty of people are willing to help. The more Local people enter the event, the more likely Alexi and Pete will consider running future events. In the past, there has been a lack of numbers which results in a loss of them. So if your interested in Drift, come out on the track not just watch, it will help you realise what work your car actually needs rather than what you "think" your car needs. It may turn out your car just needs a driver with experience. So start saving your pennies. If anyone needs assistance getting 2nd hand tyres for free, please feel free to ask me. I also have a number of stock 4x114.3 rims if anyone needs to "hire/borrow" them.

I've got two switches hooked up on mine. One to the ignition, the other is a thermo switch (turns on when it reaches a certain temp). Each fan runs one relay. I've got two thermo fans, 1x shrouded 14inch fan, and 1x 12inch fan unshrouded (no space due to aircon). Wiring would be the same between any car.

Adrian's old car. James would know it.

Discount tyres and Bob Jane are too expensive. I don't think there is any place in Canberra that deal with performance wheel and tyres(no market). I have heard there are some careless workers or places that do not have machines that can handle rim sizes larger that 16inch. Anyway, to my knowledge you can go to: - Tuggeranong Tyres (used to be Tyre power) - Jax Quickfit Woden - Advantage Fyshwick They are the places I goto, but I take drift rims that don't require care, but I have seen Jax do deal with alot of large bling bling rims. Go early, especially with the long weekend coming up next week they'll get alot busier.

Suction Camera Mounts Still Ok At Wakey? Found Out: No
StinkyPoo replied to sl33py's topic in Australian Capital Territory
I made my own camera mount using existing holes. All out of cheap aluminum from bunnings. Check out my vids on youtube http://youtube.com/user/Stinkypoopoo The lastest video is from Gokarting, where it was mounted on my helmet. -

Cams rules have changed. If it's a CAMS day and your camera weighs more than 100grams, it need to be in a inclosed frame/box, unless the camera is mounted to the floor (*shrugs about that rule). If it's not a CAMS day, what ever that other racing body is, you'll have to check their rules. -

Just came across this on youtube... I'm not sure if it was the music, but the video made me laugh Grin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcT6BEw7r8E Not sure if this is a repost but it's about someone's story of a 200sx crashing into their Corolla.

I think I spotted Ladybytes coming out of the RAAF base at Fairbain.

R31's are dirt cheap. I've bought one R31 with 3 months rego, A/C, P/S, CD for $350 and it passed Road Worthy First go! I've also got another one, 10 months rego, electric everything (no a/c tho) and it passed Road worth (second go, they made me get new tyres but I just swapped 'em LOL).
