Apparenlty some guy from Vic will be up at the museum tonight at 10pm. Not sure if he is driving his car tho.
I will be out there in my whining shitbox
WTF, clutch kit is a kit containing a clutch, pressure plate and bearing. A heavy duty clutch kit that excedy sell is just a standard clutch plate with a heavier pressure plate.
The Excedy/Xtreme clutch dealer in Canberra is:
Molonglo Brake & Clutch Svc - Stockist
A. 40 Townsville Road, FYSHWICK ACT
P. 6280 5155
E. [email protected]
He quoted around $600 for Cushioned Sprung Ceramic(I think) Clutch Kit, but is suppose to hold around 200rwkw. Price excluding install. I think you can do a betterprice around $500.
Unless you want to go something better.
Interesting, people always told me the codes were the same but revs changed between boxes so that would explain ratios. So rb20det boxes are twin synchro all through the gears instead of just 1st and 2nd. Anyways, mondale(bluprint will know) got his rb20det manual box for $200, in canberra.
Pics of S1 and S3 R31 boxes.
From what I heard, pretty much the same, only thing different is a couple of the ratios are different cos rb20's like(have to ) to rev.. And I heard synchros where the same.
Series 1 R31 manual box
Series 3 R31 manual box
Market value is $150-$200, I wouldn't pay much more R32 RB20det box, maybe $50 more. Remember they're old, and no way near as good as rb25det boxes. You guys pay to much for shit.
Ethanol is a good additive, it's cheaper, has more enrgy and runs cooler. What I don't understand is why we pay 5cents more for it. Only problem i've heard is that it eats through the old style rubber fuel hose.
Should be metric dude, it's japanese. WD-40 it good, let it soak(if it can), and/or give it a tap with a hammer to see if it'll loosen up a bit. Which side of Canberra are ya on?? I might come and take a look if you want.
I almost everything myself. Too many dodge mechanics in Canberra and people don't have a clue of what is good work and what is shit.
And another problem is some mechanics CAN do good work, but unless it's on their own car/gettin paid well/for a good mate, they are only good do just enough to get it done!
Best thing is, don't listen to what people say and make a decision by yourself. If you get a chance, inspect a similar/equivalent job they've done before you geet yours done.
If you do things yourself, invest in good tools. My spanner set of only 7 cost around $150!!!
G'day,
Just wondering if anyone or know of someone wrecking a R32/33/34 in Canberra??? I remember there was on person on allclassifieds that was wreckin one in Fadden but I don't see the ad anymore(probably cos it was along time ago). Anyways, i might need some bits soon and/or take some measurements.
Cheers,
Do you know if it had chrome rims or white rims??? There "was" a stolen blue r31 with white rims(dirty when i saw it last) with no center caps, r31skylineclub sticker on the rear drivers window and a handsized paint chip on the front quater. The cops called me today and told me they found it. I did see the thieves but a 2nd statement would be heaps better, if you saw anyone???
Anyways, feel free to pm me and i'll give you the case number to give a statement, if you want.
And if it had chrome 19inch rims then don't worry... his car ain't stolen yet...
