Shell Optimax Extreme 100 Ron
dd4321 replied to ruffryder's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
After reading the posts, it seems that Optimax 100 will make engine run leaner. Since my Skyline is currently running rich (usual symptoms such as soot on rear bar, poor fuel economy, etc), will Optimax 100 naturally cure the engine from running rich? You opinions appreciated DD -

R33 Gtst Skyline Fuel Usage
dd4321 replied to great one's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm on the same boat dude.... I have done absolutely everything to improve my fuel economy, but still only get 18-20L/100kms. I think my HKS SSQV BOV is the culprit.... are you running atmo type BOV on your car? Will try to install SAFC2 and see how it goes Try changing the O2 sensor, mine got a bit better after -
Hi, just wondering if anyone here is from HongKong or know places in HK. Planning to go to HK early next year and thinking of buying few parts such as Power FC or Apexi SAFC2, gauges, etc. Where in HongKong is the best place to buy these things? I went there early this year and bought some stuff from Mongkok area. Although they are cheaper than here, they are not that cheap as people generally describe it. Also, couldn't find some serious stuff like aftermarket ECU, etc there. Also, what area and what day can I see some illegal street race there? Thanks heaps in advance for your advice... DD
-
Which one you reckon is better, SAFC2, PFC, or change the ECU altogether to PowerFC or GReedy E Manage? Obviously aftermarket ECU will produce better result, but in terms of 'bang for your bucks', which one is better? BTW, anyone using GReedy E Manage? Any good?
-
Thanks for the reply mate... BTW, did you replace the O2 sensor with original Nissan or EL Falcon one? Where did you get your O2 sensor and how much if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again DD

Spot on, yes it is vented to atmo. Can it be converted to plumb back system? Or anyone know any plumb back system that making resonance sound? Also, can anyone else with HKS SSQV BOV confirm bad fuel economy / engine running rich? Thanks DD

Just wondering if anyone can offer a suggestion. I have R33 GTST series 1 (95 model) with light modifications, ie: HKS cat back, HKS SSQV BOV, Apexi air filter. Fuel economy is really shitty.. getting around 18-20L/100Kms. I normally drive me car to work which is 10 mins away, all city driving, no highway. I've done the following in order to search for better fuel economy: - Major service, change belts, water pump, replace plugs with iridium - Clean air filter, clean AFM - Change O2 sensor - Clean fuel injector with Nulon injector cleaner - Reset ECU. Fuel economy has not improved. The car has characteristic of running rich, soot all over rear bar, popping sound when changing gear. Popping sound is fixed after changing spark plugs. A/F gauge indicates mixture of around 14.5 during cruising, which I believe is close to ideal. Can anyone offer any suggestion on what other things I should look at to improve fuel economy? Thanks DD

Hi.. Just wondering if anyone can help me run my VIN through: 6U9000ECR33052577 Thanks in advance DD

Just wondering if anyone with A/F meter and O2 gauge running RB25DET engine can confirm this. I've just done a few maintenance with my car, ie, clean AFM and replace O2 sensor as fuel consumption of my car is really bad (20L/100km). Confirmed that the original O2 sensor is dead (rattles when shaking it) After replacing the O2 sensor, fuel consumption got worse to 25L/100Km. Reading in my A/F meter is over 20 when idle and around 17 - 19 when cruising and 14-16 when accelerating. 02 reading is between 0.01 to 0.02. (BTW, I have taken my A/F ratio and O2 readings from Apexi pen turbo timer). Obviously, from this reading the car appears to be running lean, however fuel consumption tells otherwise. After closer inspection, realised that I the O2 sensor has been incorrectly wired. Correct the wiring, and the reading has changed to around 14-15 when idling, 13-14 when cruising and 10-13 when accelerating. O2 figure however is jumping from 0.2 to 1.5. These figures are pretty much the same as per before I changed the O2 sensor. Can anyone confirm that this reading is normal? Thanks DD
-
Agree... just ditch the O2 sensor. My O2 sensor is stuffed and I am running super rich, getting 220-300Ks per tank. Occasionally hear popping sound from exhaust from unburnt fuel being ignited and soot all over the rear bar. I found a correlation between car running rich and the owner running poor... from increasing petrol price

Can anyone confirm the right part no for Oxygen Sensor for R33 GTST series 1 is OZA 23 - D2. It's NGK brand. Has anyone purchased this part before? Is this the direct replacement part? Thanks for your help DD

Try Autosport Engineering at Kirrawee and speak to Greg. Very friendly guy and they specialise in performance cars. They used to have RB26 powered S13, sold it and now building RB26 powered S15. Prettey sure they are good at what they do

Rear pods sold to me as per SMS. Cheers, Dennis
