I'm still getting the HT-10s. We can swap after a few track days and see how they each compare.

Take the stone guards off, and run ducting from the front of the car to the back of the brakes. 99% certain that the brake lines are the same between R32GTR and R33GTS. -

No it's definitely the rear sway bar, must just be an S chassis thing. No offense, but have you ever held a piece of Cazman or SPL gear? Neither make lower control arms (SPL used to stock NAMS (imported from Japan) but they don't any more - at least on their website), but the stuff they do make is exceptional quality, and uses US made motorsport quality bearings that are easily and cheaply serviceable. On top of that, SPL at least is known to be great with support, they offer an upgrade process when they develop new versions of their parts, and are amazing with any warranty issues. With Cazman's stuff developed in Australia I would imagine support would also be great, I know for a fact that he stocks bearing replacements. Don't get me wrong, I think the Ikeya stuff is good, but the price they want for some of their stuff is ridiculous, and the cost to maintain is also high. The PSM (Parts Shop Max) stuff is also good and I believe they use NMB bearings in all their gear. Another alternative, Peak Performance arms are made in the US use Aurora bearings in all their arms. None of this is to be confused with the cheap Chinese stuff. I'll try and get a shot sometime of my SPL stuff next to the same Ikeya parts, my brother has a few bits of Ikeya on his track car. There are alternatives out there to Ikeya, many cheaper and just as good if not better. -
Bnr32 Track Build

You should be able to put R33/34 rear subframes into R32s. You just need offset subframe bushes. You can get them from SPL, or make your own. The subframes are the same between S chassis and Skylines in this case. This gives you less anti squat. That and Driftworks (SPTEC copy) rear uprights and you have roll centre and geometry markedly improved. Not sure what options are available for the front though. -
Ignore N/A MX5s at your peril!

In my opinion Ikeya Formula stuff isn't worth it unless you are loaded. Get either Cazman's stuff, or SPL gear from the states. The SPL gear especially is super trick. What's the deal with the rear swaybar on an R32? I know on S chassis a lot of track guys either leave them stock or just remove it. -
Yeah the impression I get is that S13s are expensive or something in NSW and Vic? There seem to be all sorts of lower spec cars (lots of things like NA SR20s etc) over here in WA for under $3k if you go looking for them.

I have an NA MX5 and an S13 (well, currently 2 actually). The MX5 cost $4500, stock standard, has been a great runabout. S13 is being built to be a track toy, and I decided S13 over the MX5 due to cost of the initial car, cost of parts and ease of upgrades. The first S13 I picked up was a 92' CA18DET, came with Power FC, 17" rims + brand new tyres, supposedly rebuilt bottom end, custom plenum, GTR injectors, GTR intercooler, + blown KKR380 turbo, + coilovers for $2200 unlicensed. Played with that for a bit, but ultimately decided I didn't like the sunroof and didn't want the hassle of getting it licensed, so I picked up a licensed 90' CA18DET for $2800, only issue a dent in the rear quarter. Has a few less mods than the other car (exhaust, coilovers and aftermarket manifold), but drives well. The plan is to put all the good stuff from the other car into the new car, then sell unneeded parts and the first shell to recoup costs. I've also got a full set of suspension arms, GTR brakes, S15 diff and rear subframe, 5 stud conversion, custom Bilstein coilovers and a BB T28 and lots of other little bits and pieces to go into it. At the end of the day I'm looking at a car with maybe around 200kw, hopefully about 1000-1100 kg, and quality components all for around $10k (will probably blow out though!). S13s are cheap these days!

So You Think Your Track Car Is Pretty Cool? Guess Again!

Yep and ground effects etc. Really this is just for people with way too much money who'd like to think they could drive an F1 car. -

Coilovers Or Spring And Shocks?
mattah replied to cptpugwash's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Bilsteins are half the price from the US. Keep your standard hats and then buy springs (Kings) locally. If you want a firmer ride you can get Heasman's in Sydney to revalve the Bilsteins to suit any spring rate you want to run. -
Bit of a weird request, but if anyone has a diff cover from an R32 GTR (two bolt with the cooling fins at the bottom) I am chasing one. Only need the cover.

What you really want is . Best of both worlds.

Which Shocks Are Softer Koni Sport Or Bilstein
mattah replied to Harey's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
How similar is the R34 rear end to an S14/S15? Presumably it has the fork bottom, but apart from that are the dimensions the same? If so, check nissanroadracing.com and see what the guys that run S14s are using on their cars after they do the Z32 rear upright conversion. Also, try phoning Bilstein Australia? They should be able to give you info on the Bilsteins they recommend for R34s. -

I'm an IEEE member and I don't know why really. I guess the magazines are nice to read on the loo, and it maybe looks impressive on the CV. That said, it is a useful tool for some EE areas, just not mine.

It will get a release when PS3 sales numbers need bumping up for the shareholders. Do we have any ideas on the cars featured? Usually those start to leak out first. Hopefully they have a lot more older stuff. The best thing about GT and Forza is modifying the older 80s and 90s cars, and the number of those has always been limited unfortunately. On top of that, they are never really accurate with what is actually happening in grass roots motorsport (the best level of the game for mine). Forza was better than GT4 with it, but still lacked a lot.

It's a bit of a trek to the airport from there though .. although it's not difficult as such, I wouldn't want to be doing that trip every day.
