  1. (Why not just tape the button "IN" with duct tape. When you are finished drifting, remove the tape, and you have a normal handbrake. ) that would be the afore mentioned 10c piece trick
  2. DVS32R's way seems a bit of a pain, just in that I drive the car far too often on the road Vs drifting, so i might just do the old 10c piece taped on trick . I know Cusco has a handle and button replacement kit, but that goes for almost $100 and doesnt look that great either. Apparently normal ones dont really fit. Anyone know of products that do?
  3. Ive seen alot of drift buttons for silvias, etc but not for skylines. Are they available or is there a reason why not. What should I do about handbrake drift button for my R33? thanks
  4. Im thinking of getting new exhaust parts and wanna replace the nuts I will be undoing. What kind of metal should the nuts be made of to best survive the high heat? informed answers are much appreciated, thanks
  5. can anyone tell me the diameter of the standard ECR33 skyline front pipe? thanks
  6. I ran it in with 30 mins of figure 8s. man, thats boring. It seemed kinda quieter after that time, as in i could do 8s with almost no chatter, but on normal driving it was still there. I think ultimately its normal and just what i gotta live with
  7. Thanks for the comments so far, and any more suggestions or experience is much appreciated it came with the Nismo oil but, on advice at the shop, I had them put in Wakos cheaper oil for the bed in stage and then after 500kms they will put in the nismo stuff. Apparently the nismo stuff is meant to have an additive in it that quiets the chattereing, but is this what im experiencing...? I know that the more expensive GT-PRO LSD has a way to adjust it, but i have the normal non adjust type. I havent done figure 8s in a car park yet due to no time and very few car park areas to do it (Japan!) but im hoping that just driving it with care, not thrashing it etc will get the job done over time. I notice the nismo page says( The design standard for the initial torque output value is 8.0 kgf·m at the time of delivery. After the LSD is broken in and the plates are working well together, it will stabilize at 6.0 to 6.5 kgf·m. ) I guess this means it should calm down a little over time? The diff is 1.5 way, but im just still a bit surprised. Put it this way, its not an annoying sound so much as its a noise that has me a little worried, like it feels like its not quite right, i wince a little sometimes on the slow cornereing. hmmmm
  8. I just got a new Nismo GT LSD installed yesterday and they said to drive it slow for 3-500kms to wear it in. I also was expecting some chattering which i got, but heres the thing. Sometimes/often when driving corners slow or at low speed the thing really thumps i can feel it grabbing and then that force is released and i get some fairly loud thumps. When driving straight its fine and its makes some noise at, say, 40-50kph light cornering. So, this being my first LSD< im wondering 1, is this normal? 2, Will it get less violent over time? 3, Will the noise reduce when it get the NISMO oil changed into it after the run in period (like the bottle says) 4, What were your experiences running in an LSD thanks
  9. thats it, keep em coming people
  10. I wish 100-250. Over here (japan) ive been quoted about 400 for a rebuilt one or double for a new one. anyway, more results from people please
  11. Im thinking about whether or not to get my alternator rebuilt so I thought I would pose this question to see how reliable they really are. At what kilometer reading did your Skyline Alternator die? Lets try get as many responses as possible, so others know what to expect.
  12. I bought a used blitz BOV and pipe for my skyline ECR33 but im a little unsure about the install. 1, There are 2 tubes for vacume hose, one on the metal pipe and 1 on the top of the BOV. Where exactly do I connect them to? 2, Do i leave the standard BOV on or do someting with it? 3, Might i have issues stalling? what do i adjust if I do? also, anyone see any good pics of an install? im still searching the net thanks, I hope to do this on sunday, so any help is a big help.
  13. i found out today that 1.5 is actually good, so problem solved
  14. I got my Defi oil pressure gauge hooked up today and noticed that the car will idle with the pressure level staying around 1.5bar. I kinda expected it to hit a low of 2, so Im a little concerned/interested. I also noticed that the factory R33 guage says its around 2, so shows you how shit that is. What does your aftermarket oil pressure guage read at?
  15. Thanks. I was in KTS today and found some HKS hose for it so Im gonna order 2m of that soon
  16. got myself a catch can and I had planned on hooking it up with, yep, garden hose but on reading old PI magazines and deciding not to do it half assed, I thought I better get proper hose that will resist the heat that you can get in an engine bay. So, what brand/name/type etc of hose should I hook it up with. Keeping in mind that value for money is just as important. thanks
  17. interseting. Thanks, I'll check it out see if anyhting is amiss
  18. OK this is a bit of an odd one. I was crusing the freeways on the weekend and I noticed a sound coming from the back drivers side. It only happened above about 80kph and increased in pitch in relation to speed. The strange thing was it kinda made a noise like a pigion would. It wasnt loud or drastic enough that i was worried, but It would be nice if anyone has had the same thing, and how to make it quiet again. thankx
  19. I still have vivid memories of my s13 rolling to a stop half way home many years ago. Then again there may well have been warning signs and I was just too thick to notice. Pretty sure my GFs at the time died also, I think i changed it myself (7 odd years ago now). Well, im gonna talk to nissan tommorow about getting the bushes replaced, prevention never hurt nobody
  20. "i would replace all the rubber coolant hoses first, because they're getting old and my guess is they would be more likely to fail than the alternator." Yeah, done this already. Im going for reliability on this car before I get too crazy with other stuff. No point going fast if simple stuff will die on me. how much am I looking at for the part?
  21. my old s13 with about 130,000kms on it suffered a failure of the alternator and I realise now I got ripped off to the hilt by dodgy mechanics as it was probably one of those two things. Living in Tokyo, I dont really want to be stranded anywhere (especially elevated freeways) so i figure its a good idea to tackle it before it f**ks me. so, more opinions, ideas?
  22. I was planning to give my alternator a birthday but cant remember exactly what should be changed. I learned about this all in auto electrical class about 7 years ago. Is it the bushes I should replace? is there any point changing the regulator if it hasnt died? any info appreciated
  23. Yep, any help appreciated
