Mistakes were made, my R34 Story
soviet_merlin replied to Kinkstaah's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Ooo, quite aggressive! I hope there'll be a professional taking photos on the trackday that you can get. Should look great there! -
Mistakes were made, my R34 Story
soviet_merlin replied to Kinkstaah's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way! -
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ More SUVs, yay. Oh well, it's what people want apparently.

Shoota's R33 GT-R RB30/26

You mean the Skyline? -
How do people sell and buy modified cars in Victoria? Because internet says you have to get a RWC every time the car is sold. In NSW the blue slip / full check is only required for cars that had their registration lapsed or are bought from interstate. The yearly pink slip / rego check just looks at tyres, lights, leaks and things like that. They tend to not care about modifications. So can buy a car that is modified as long as it was registered before modifications. And then keep driving it. With the lingering threat of getting defected and fu<ked at any time.

@PranK, why do we have this restriction? Because photos are the first thing that gets asked of new people on the forums. Do the spam bots post photos if allowed?

Yet another clutch question
soviet_merlin replied to joshuaho96's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
How do you rate the clutch @joshuaho96? Sometimes I wonder whether it's genuinely very driveable or whether I just feel that way because it cost a good chunk of money. Most recently when seeing the guy at the tyre shop struggle to move the car... -

2002 VX SS Commodore $30,000 ono
soviet_merlin replied to The Bogan's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
It's a shame to see it go. Fingers crossed the sale works out okay and it goes to someone decent. Everything considered this is a steal. I would be tempted if I wasn't poor -

SAUNSW - Cruise - Evening Old Pac Run - Sat 23rd November
soviet_merlin replied to sammi_d's topic in Events
Good stuff! I hope I can make it. I missed the last few events, but somewhere between 5 and 30? Have a look at the albums to get an idea. https://www.saunsw.com.au/gallery I feel like it mostly depends on the weather and on how much of a chance @sammi_d gets to spread the word on social media. -
This. So much. I tried to run mine today and it does nothing. Everything sounds normal and I can feel it sapping power so I presume the compressor is running. But it's just blowing air at ambient temperature. Regas was a few posts earlier, ~4 weeks ago. I have had it on once since then. Looking forward to see what you find out about yours. Feeling a bit like Johnny where having a modern car would be nice for a change.

Haltech Iat Vs. Oem Iat Rb26 ?
soviet_merlin replied to cobrAA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Oooh, right. That makes so much more sense. For some reason I was picturing them selling a variety of pipe ends with nipples on them... Solid reasoning. -
Haltech Iat Vs. Oem Iat Rb26 ?
soviet_merlin replied to cobrAA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Where does Plazmaman place the bung for the IAT sensor? They supply the big hp kits so I would expect them to have given it some consideration. -
Haltech Iat Vs. Oem Iat Rb26 ?
soviet_merlin replied to cobrAA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Going from your photo you may just have the Blitz intercooler core but not the piping. Maybe the previous owner didn't like the 2000s Autosalon chrome look. I certainly don't like it This is what the Blitz plumbing looks like on the Stagea. The sensor sits pretty far from the plenum. No idea if it makes a difference. The piping itself is pretty tidy IMO as they route it through the factory sidemount intercooler holes in the engine bay. -
Haltech Iat Vs. Oem Iat Rb26 ?
soviet_merlin replied to cobrAA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Do you have to, though? That sounds quite messy to me. Surely it would be easier to place it a bit further down. And drill into easily replaced piping instead. See the old replies above as well. FWIW the Blitz intercooler kit on my RB25 has a nipple on the elbow of the pipe going into the plenum. No need for drilling. Looks vaguely like this: -
I have to admit I had the same thought as Greg. Is there a sales side to it? As in hussle to make deals and hit targets? I can definitely feel the appeal of leaving IT though. I say hello to the post lady every day when I'm out with the dogs. She's always out delivering letters around the same time and seems very chill. I somewhat doubt Australia Post is paying six figures though. And it's not cheap running an old Nissan...

That's A Nice Looking Volvo Mate.......

It finally happened. Looks like it held up really well. I'm very impressed with the lack of creaks and rattles in the car. Volvo quality. -

Duncan's V37.......race car?
soviet_merlin replied to Duncan's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I always thought those throttle controller kits were essentially snake oil. Good to see that it can actually make a difference! It really bugs me how modern cars tend to revert all the settings for each startup. At least Honda got it somewhat right with the Type R where the default is sport mode. And have to switch to go to comfort... -
RB25DET NEO Turbo water return line
soviet_merlin replied to shortyboy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Do you have a link to the kit you bought? I don't have anything helpful to contribute other than suggesting to make sure that you do it right. It's a pain now, but it will be even more of a pain down the line if you have to fix it again. I've been ignoring a small leak on that return line fitting in my car. Still weighing up what to do with it. Jonny @Dose Pipe Sutututu has routed it back to the front of the engine to make it less painful. See this and following comments in his build thread. Not sure how it has been holding up since though. -
I don't how much the car makes a difference or whether it is just a question of gearbox and clutch. On mine it's fine. Pull type Nismo coppermix twin (standard, not competition) on the 5 speed in my Stagea. OEM slave cylinder. Bite point is a few cm off the very bottom of the pedal. Clutch pedal all the way down to put in gear, and when heading off at the lights, there's a tiny bit of nothing and then it starts biting. And fully engaged before the pedal is all the way released. There's a bit of play at the top where the pedal does nothing anymore. Are you in Australia @ck_chino? If you are set on using a Nismo slave cylinder I have one new-in-box at home. Ordered it together with the clutch but didn't get it fitted. We can work something out if you want it

I wonder if there is much to tell without knowing where the bolts where bought from. If it comes from Amazon or similar all bets are off. Can't trust them. And I fear not everybody knows that. Wasn't it @TurboTapin who ended up with the fake fuel lines recently? The submersible ones which very much weren't submersible at all. It kind of applies to everything nowadays. Doesn't matter if it's hardware or electronics. The fancy camera might have internals swapped out for cheap knockoffs. The hard drive will report a certain size but not actually be able to write it all. Shit like that. A bit depressing but the reality is you really have to be weary of where and how you buy stuff
