  1. Thanks for the detailed review Jairek! Much appreciated. This has definitely proven itself on RBs then. Also quite affordable. I'll have a think about it. Though I'm leaning towards the one that Prank mentioned. It has a bit more oomph, longer battery life and is actually a bit smaller in size. Not that the latter comes as much of a concern in the wagon.
  2. Yeah nah, mine is like this. It's really not very good. - It's round which makes it awkward to place in engine bay without rolling around - The charge doesn't hold for very long and need to recharge every few months Might work for self defense though as it has some serious heft to it. And I guess can use it as a torch and pretend it's a huge Maglite.
  3. Hah, you make it sound like it gets a lot of use in your household. BMW life, eh? I very much like the sound of this one. Especially the supposed 1 year battery life. Might grab one at the next opportunity. Thanks for the tip!
  4. This is coming up on Saturday. I don't think I have been to this one before. Looking forward to it!
  5. Can anyone recommend a jump starter pack? Basically a portable battery pack with jumper leads to start a car if the battery is too low. Needs to be able to start at least an RB25DET. They tend to look something like the below. I have a Unigear A6 jump starter pack bought from Justjap. They don't sell it anymore. Likely because it doesn't actually work. It was advertised to be good for <= 4l engines but wasn't able to start a ~2008 4 cylinder BMW when we tried it. So I very much doubt it'll do any good on an RB. Now I'm looking for something that actually works. Thanks!
  6. This is coming up tomorrow. See you there /edit: Meh, some kids were having a house party. No sleep for this old man so didn't make it after all.
  7. Muuuum, Brandis Racing is on the telly!
  8. Looking forward to see how you go with this! I have to admit race car is not the first thought coming to my mind when I see these cars. So this is definitely something different. I'm wondering: can you defeat the collision warning systems and other safety features? I've heard they can cause issues when racing modern cars. Don't want the car to start emergency breaking because you are heading into a corner or towards obstacles too fast.
  9. I don't know whether that one should be reused or not. But here's one way to find the part. Go to https://nissan.epc-data.com and use frame number or the menus to drill down to the parts for your specific car. Looks like it is under 'Body parts -> 214 radiator'. See for example the respective part for my Stagea. Looks like it's called drain cock packing, and at least for mine it is part number 2148118000. Searching for that then gives you various places where you can buy it. Amayama can be a bit slow, so it's worth searching around. I'd make sure it's the correct one for yours. At least from amayama it looks pretty generic and fits a ton of cars. And if anyone asks what you did on the weekend, you can tell them that you put a new cock on the car
  10. How come you can get this in new? Is it part of the heritage program? Personally for a hundred dollars difference I wouldn't gamble on another used one.
  11. Did you see @Ryno's comment on the uniclutch in this other clutch thread? Sounds pretty promising. Though I suppose no pull to push conversion because R32.
  12. Meh, cancelled because of the weather.
  13. It feels like it has been ages. Will be there. Looking forward to it!
  14. Is the girlfriend still your girlfriend and does she ride in the car now?
  15. That at least is a feature. So you can see the fuel level even when the car is turned off. I presume the fuel level sensing is fairly similar between the different generations. Here's what the Stagea user manual has to say about it: Don't know about your other points but I'd be curious to know as well. I'm kind of waiting for @Duncan to chime in because he has been doing a fair bit of fuel system related stuff recently. Including fuel level sensor finagling in his build thread.
  16. Please be careful around ordering things from Amazon. Look up Amazon item commingling, Chinese fakes being sold as genuine, returned items scams and similar. There are whole businesses around selling cheap shit as genuine on Amazon. Can't trust Amazon. This is one aspect where I'm so glad that Australia is an island out in the middle of nowhere. Amazon doesn't have nearly the same foothold here as it does in your part of the world. It is much easier and way more common here to order things from manufacturers directly. And avoid many of those issues. F^ck Amazon. Seriously. /end of rant I'm glad you spotted it before it turned serious.
  17. Me too! They are such a good looking car. Timeless design.
  18. Oof, glad that it seems have gone much better than it could have. I have seen some pretty terrible tow truck handling just as a bystander. Zero fvcks given and no regard for the cars at all. Also broke down with fuel pump issues the other week as the wiring was on its way out. Roadside assistance guy used to have a Skyline and was looking at Stageas on the market. The tow truck driver also used to own a high powered Skyline and was telling stories about that. Apparently too fast to have any issues with being pulled over... Makes all the difference dealing with people who actually know their cars and care.
  19. Sounds like a good excuse for a trip to Australia! But yeah, trying it out is probably the best way to go about it. Please report back what you find.
  20. Just commenting to attach Greg's picture in the forums. I'm surprised it's still available on imgur considering how long it has been. Free imagehosting like that gives me anxiety.
  21. Man, clutch feel is so subjective. I moved to the Nismo Twin from a heavy single plate NPC Heavy Duty Organic and it is sooo much better to drive in everyday traffic. A heavy clutch pedal is the worst here. The Nismo is light enough I don't even think about it. But with the heavy clutch in traffic I was aware of every time I had to push the pedal. In terms of being grabby I would describe it like this: - A normal clutch has ~10cm of clutch pedal travel between initial bite point and clutch fully gripping - With the Nismo twin plate it's ~4cm of clutch pedal travel for the same From what I understand that's normal for multi-plate clutches. Maybe the Nismo is more forgiving than others, don't know. It's not punishing but you have to get used to it. My driving is 80% city and no issues there. Smooth to take off and change gears. Hill starts are mostly fine. It is a bit of a pain for reversing on an incline. I find it hard to get the right amount of clutch slip for that and always end up feeling like I'm burning it too much. But, you may have a very different experience based on your body type and footwear. With heavy boots or shoes it's likely going to be pretty shit. Just because the clutch is light and the boots don't give enough feel to let the clutch pedal out with precision. Might be similar if you are a big guy or have motor control issues. But able-bodied and driving with decent shoes it feels great. You don't mention noise at all. It does chatter at idle RPM when it gets warm. Nothing that is out of place in a GTR though IMO.
  22. Nice! I hope it all works out. At least now you know the track as well and can build from last year. Looking forward to see your car in action again. Ooof. Godspeed!
  23. Are you going to be at WTAC this year @bcozican? Just realised it's coming up end of August so not long to go at all. https://www.worldtimeattack.com/
