  1. who do you recommend to fit my new shocks? I would like them to check the rest of the suspension at the same time, so preferrably someone who knows skylines... would D1 or tillbrooks do the shocks ok? I need to get the 100K major service done in the next few months so i was thinking i may as well go to the same workshop for the suspension as well. thx
  2. even though I wrote RWHP, i think the calc i did was for BHP anyway, cos: 230rwkw should = 230*1.35 = 310rwhp 230rwkw = 230*1.7 = 391 bhp [email protected] so 391/11=35mm [email protected] 250*1.7=425bhp 425/11=38.6mm 38.6/1.6*1.4=34mm anyway... as you said, I could probably get better response and a longer lasting wastegate with a smaller one, thx for the info... I think the guy that owner by car in japan didn't quite know what he was doing... there's quite a few odd things on the car!
  3. am i doing this correctly i have: [email protected], 50mm ext wastegate 391rwhp/11 = 35.5mm 35.5/1.3*1.4=38mm or 35.5/1.3*1.2=32mm (i'm not sure about those last two calcs... is that what I'm meant to do??) so the wastegate is waaay too big?? And i would need an even smaller one if I wanted to get to 250rwkw (at say 1.6bar?)... 425rwhp/11=38.6mm 38.6/1.6*1.4=34mm
  4. I'm interested in the tailshaft... is there a gearbox mount as well??
  5. my GF knows a guy that works at the mitsi design/testing center... i think he's an electronic engineer. I don't know him, but I was thinking it's probably worth asking about their testing centre.
  6. do you need an engineers report for the mods + an emission test? or just the emission test? can you recommend an engineer? A friend of mine recommended 'BC Tonkin & Associates'... apparently they are on the Transport SA list of recommended engineers. D. Potts (australian Technology PTY LTD) is on the list as well... is he dodgy or is it just the emission test he does is that is unacceptible?
  7. sounds good... free voluntary emission tests The stupid thing is that SA should have these testing facilities & compulsory car checkups every N years. I'm sure these test will become compulsory in a few years.
  8. about the idle test that is not legal (the road&track one). So whats stopping someone doing the same test, but on a dyno. Would that be acceptible? Surely that would be easy to set up...
  9. RB20, HKS2835r. If only regency let you through because the engine looks nice and tidy...
  10. I've got the standard 32 computer still... so I'm ok there. I thought the whole idea of an engineers report was that they could verify that mods are mechanically sound. Then the emission test will show that emissions are ok... if both are fine then everything is ok. As long as your car is tuned properly and you don't have cams, etc and you have a good cat, you wouldn't have anything to worry about with an emission test, surely??
  11. thx for the good responses... Steve, the engineering certificate for $1700 sounds quite good. I'd be willing to pay something like that if it meant I had a nice piece of paper saying everthing was legal. Have u got more details on these guys, I would like to get in contact.
  12. hmm, probably... but the oil catch can does not vent to atmosphere and is drained to the sump and it has a PCV still. I'd hope an engineer would say that it was ok. Easy to remove though.
  13. I posted this in the general section but didn't get any replies... Maybe i'll have more success closer to home... I'm after advice on getting this car registered legally in SA. The main problem is obviously the engine work... apart from that it's pretty normal. Some of you may have seen this before: http://members.fortunecity.com/boosted32/Mods1-5.htm I know it will be defected the moment they look at the engine... but the question is... what can an engineer do for me? Has anyone got something like this engineered and passed a roadworthy? My circumstances have changed recently and I have to get it registered properly... if that means taking all the nice stuff off, I will do it as a last resort

  15. i don't really need class... u can't really see the bits I want done... i just don't want the dodgey brothers. I'll ring around the places u have all mentioned...
  16. I need to retrim the interior panel that goes from the rear pillar, up over the side window and down the b-pillar... both sides of the car. Any recommendations?
  17. I'm after some standard R32 GTST springs (front & rear)... anyone got some lying around they would let go cheaply? also id be interested if anyone has some standard spring tops and/or boots. I'm putting new shocks on and want to try standard springs with them, but I would like to swap the entire assembly out... that's why i'd like the tops/boots. I'll get them from one of the jap wreckers if no-one has anything. thanks.
