  1. Thanks ezy 9s. A little way off yet. Still need to cross a few things off the shopping list. Slowly but surely.......
  2. Alright, next on the list was the cam cover baffles. I did at one stage consider getting MINES cam baffles. But in the end, i settled for MINES STYLE offered by Hi Octane. This is mainly because the local ones really were almost if not exact equivalent to the MINES ones, but at less than half the price! I would like to be able to say "i have MINES cam baffles" purely for wank factor but I just couldnt justify spending the extra money. My covers and the MINES "STYLE" cam cover baffles Here is a better shot of the locally made ones. Here are some genuine Mines ones. Yellow sponges on the genuine ones I could not see over $200 worth of difference! Remove the old plate/baffle Before stuffing in the supplied sponges, make sure you degrease and clean the insides of the covers! Apply some 3bond around the outside, put in the baffle and screw it down. To fit the cam baffles, we had to move the cam cap cover thingys up to the back of the head. As Daz is so happily showing us. Note, don't talk to the guy holding the camera! These two pics look alike dont they! AND Here is Daz 3bonding the half moon seals. These two seals are not included in the gasket kit! Put in a new cam cover gasket, provided in kit, and the covers were ready to go on! Oh yeah, the cam covers were done by Chris at CRAVED COATINGS. Great work, VERY reasonable prices. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! If you would like his details they are on the forum or shoot me a pm and i will pass them onto you. This is the finish i chose. LOVE IT! Great work CRAVED! Covers went on, Every time Dazza finished work for the day. He would wrap my baby up in glad wrap, to stop any contaminants from getting in as the engine was not fully sealed yet. I owe Dazza's missus about 10 rolls of the stuff!
  3. OK PEOPLE! LOOK AND LEARN! This is one of Dazmos closely guarded secrets. This is why his engines run so well. He tells me that its all about how you treat your engines. Slow and steady....... No need to rush as this only upsets them. As you can see from the pic a bit of lube, foreplay and toys works wonders......... See!? Another "HAPPY" engine. ok seriously though, lucky for us we did not have to unbolt the cams to do up the head stud nuts. There were recesses in the Apexi cams which allowed us to get the socket past the cam to tighten the nuts. This saved a bundle of time! The LYNX effect by DAZ. Torque to ARP Head stud specs. When you make grunting facial expressions, you know they are torqued to spec Make sure you do them all up!
  4. Hi all, does anyone have the BOSCH part number for a VG30DETT Z32 afm?
  5. Thats an awesome price. somebody buy this already!
  6. if you can wait till next week, an ats twin carbon will be up for sale. Darren and I will both be putting getrags in our cars. so it wont be needed.
  7. Hi all, as the topic states, i have an RB26 05U block with matching cradle. The bore size is currently 86mm. There are some marks in the bore which will definitely clean up to 86.5mm or 20thou oversize, which allows plenty of meat to be kept in the bore. The block has a waterpump included. I am in brisbane and prefer pickup please. Price is $500. Inspection welcome.
  8. Cheers Ashneel, i'll try to post up whatever i can. Sometimes when youre too hands on, its very hard to stop and snap pictures. The first block was honed out 2 thou over the specified piston to bore clearance to 4 thou. For Japanese pistons its 2 thou! so i had to get a new block. The head is back from Will at JHH Engineering. I dont have any pictures of the head build, only of the finished product. Anyway the work carried out on the head was: Machine HKS valve guides down to fit head Ream inside valve guides to suit valves. Fit Guides to head Remove Intake and Exhaust valve seats Fit hardened and strengthened in/ex valve seats and machine to size Fit Supertech 1mm oversize valves IN/EX Assemble head with new sping seats for inner and outer springs, new collets, and new valve stem seals (from nismo gasket kit) Fit Apexi cams and machine head for lobe clearance Fit Tomei cam stud kit Shim to correct clearances Skim head. wrap in glad wrap to seal in "freshness" the underside. intake are the black valves, and the exhaust are the silver ones (inconel) Block was brought back out and block surface was cleaned with thinners and a clean cotton cloth. and a set of ARP head studs fitted. Here is DAZMO SHOWING OFF picking up the block by one head stud with two fingers! Dazmo getting ready for a thorough cleaning with a clean cotton rag and thinners. (notice he has on NISMO uniform! Takes it seriously doesnt he! ) Dazza's Missus always complains he won't even wipe the table! Look what i got him doing! Actually i would have done this but i had to keep my hands clean so i wouldnt get my camera dirty! Anyway, all excess oil was wiped off. Head is almost ready to go on! Put a screwdriver in the stud hole in the head and lean it back. Don't rest the head on its face as it will bend the valves. (right miss carter?) NEXT.... we took out the Tomei 1.0mm metal head gasket and sprayed it with Hylomar for better sealing Look at the concentration and CAN CONTROL! Make sure it is well coated front and back Place the gasket over the head studs, first making sure surface is still clean. And the next step is important, wipe excess hylomar on Nismo shirt And whatever you cant get off on your shirt, wipe on your pants! Hylomar goes on clear but turns blue and gooey to aid sealing. It's best you have a helping hand with this part as the head needs to be lowered horizontally to the block. If you dont keep it flat it will get caught on the studs. I finally had to get my hands dirty. Hence NO PICS! more pics soon.......
  9. i have heard that this is great for drag cars, but may not be good for street. is this true? what benefits and gains can be expected? how does this affect response?
  10. HAHAHA..... yeah 9K.... i can see it too! the avatar is definitely more pleasing on the eyes! eyes on avatar are BULGING though! omega, thanks for the kind words. thanks femno. yeah make sure you send me those pics of your brakes when you get them on! im still waiting! more pics up soon!
  11. cheers. thanks for the reply. i really didnt know a mark on the very end could make such a big difference!
  12. forgive my ignorance, but why are marks on the snout such a concern?
  13. Didn't any of you guys read the acpt motto before your purchase? EXPERIENCE MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE! so true so true.......what an experience! I bought a pst shaft when darren was doing a group buy. I spoke to pst personally, and their service is excellent. All the extra time and money that you guys have spent has really made this such a sour experience. If anyone would like carbon shaft, shoot dazmo a pm and he would be glad to help you out.
  14. forgive my ignorance, but why are marks on the snout such a concern?
  15. cerbera, thats REALLY interesting! very informative! i had to read it a few times before it sank in though. could you draw the pics? how is it that you know so much and in so much detail? you teach it?
  16. do you have an r34 gtr clutch? is it standard or aftermarket. how much?
  17. Very nice Nick! Cooling channel pistons! I have always wondered how they actually make these. They are a forged piston so how do they make the channel? Nick, when you're ready to do the hoses and clamps, let me know. I can get some pretty good prices on the Nissan stuff. I've spent enough with them!
  18. Yeah, really happy with it. Andre did a really good job. He's been doing it for years now, so i totally trust his work. He has his own flowbench too. The head is also CC'd as well. He charges so very reasonable considering the time spent on it. The head took some time to do as it is not Andre's main line of work anymore. He just does it in his spare time. When i showed JHH they were very happy with it, and said that if they were to charge for something like this it would cost between 4 and 4.5k! I couldnt believe it! I didnt know it could cost sooooo much! I'd never spend that sort of money on a headjob. I was stoked! I guess with headwork its like asking "how long is a piece of string?"
  19. IT'S CHRISTMAS! THE HEAD IS BACK! The head went to Will at JHH Engineering along with all the head parts for assembly. Will reccomened i stop by Nissan and pick up new collets and spring seats. More $ Anyway, he's the expert. Here are some of the finished porting pics. haha i really like this next pic. Is it just me or does it look like a skull is staring back at you!? More waiting............
  20. I dont think the M-speed car is allowed to race anymore. is that true? Mark berry brought it up in conversatioin a few weeks back that M-speed had to sell off all their stuff, because they did not meet the rules of the class. I cant remember what it was. I'll try to find out. Merli, great build mate. The spy pics are definitely hinting that you have a lot more up your sleeve! More spy pics please BB!
  21. While waiting on the final stages of the head work, There were A LOT of little bits and pieces to buy. Most of the bolts etc were from other rb26's Daz and I had accumulated over the years. I reckon we'd have quite a few rb26's just in parts! Most vaccum hoses, clamps, pipes etc on the plenum and intakes were over 15years old so I bought all these new from Nissan. Most of these had to come from Japan...... more waiting..... This pipe was ordered too. The FAST CD worth its weight in gold. Hoses and clamps This oil thingy was not included on a bare block either. Old one was hard to remove. New studs for intake side for plenum Studs off the head intake and exhaust sides Also a Nismo Repair Gasket Kit was ordered from Japan. this consists of all the seals and gaskets found in the engine (except half moon seals), a tube of 3 bond, and a 1.2mm metal head gasket. This repair gasket kit is also available in Nissan form however a factory head gasket instead of the Metal one. A great kit! The Nismo metal head gasket was ditched because i wanted to UP the compression for response. The Nismo repair gasket kit did not offer anything smaller than 1.2mm. Also all the other gaskets that mattered ie exhaust manifold gasket, intake manifold gasket, throttle body gaskets were still made from factory materials. In their place i replaced them with a Tomei gasket combination kit. This kit had all the gaskets mentioned but in metal. The kit also included the Tomei oil gallery orafice as well. Tomei offered gaskets in 1.0 1.2 1.5 1.8 and 2.0! I got the 1.0 for the purpose mentioned.
  22. Very nice nick. cooling channel pistons would have set you back a mint!
