  3. thanks guys.... i finally figured a way to get off the top layer easily. KARCHER it! yup, i used 2000psi of water and blasted the sucker off! left the goo behind, but thats not a problem. thanks for all the suggestions guys. really helpful.
  4. I am about to have my timing belt replaced on my gtr. i have a new nismo timing belt and new HKS cam gears (anodised blue and purple) waiting for installation. Before i have this done, and because it is a reasonably sized job at $70/hr, i would like to ask, what is the average life of these HKS cam gears? I have been told that these things only last 15,000-20,000kms, and i should consider another brand such as tomei or os giken because they are made of steel instead of aluminium if i want longer life from the gears. is this true? after changing these gears, what advantages can i expect?
  5. guys.... i just got pulled up by the coppers. "you arent allowed to have allowed to have any blue lights coming from your car. (its green) the only people allowed to have blue lights are police cars" "it came with the car!" "remove it" i was lucky to get away with it, because the car was just imported. the fine is $75 and one point.
  6. anything in the west? indooroopilly? taringa? kenmore way?
  7. the stickers are ****in stubborn! shellite? sounds cool, where can i get it? getting the gooey stuff off doesnt seem to be the problem. the gooey stuff is between the sticker and the wheel. there are two layers on top of the wheel im talking about here. trying to get the sticker itself off is the main problem. its flakey when picked at (not cracked), yet hard. trying to get past the sticker to get to the sticky stuff is the problem at the moment!
  8. thanks guys... still a lot to do yet. the hairdryer worked pretty well. even so, havent got it all off yet. fingernails are definitely not working. razor blades is cutting into and scratching the powdercoating of the wheel. any suggestion of utensil?
  9. mate, do you know if the seat sits too high when you have a helmet on?
  10. thanks and good thinking 2fardown! thats a good idea! i will give that a go and let you know. as for the car. there are a few imperfections that need to be fixed. heres another photo.
  11. My car has finally arrived from japan. im at the stage where im chaging the things that need changing, removing the things that need removing. ive come across these yellow reflective stickers on my wheels (2 on every wheel) i dont know what they were for or who put them on, but they look stupid. they must have been on for a very long time. now they are crispy and really stuck on hard. ive tried to pick them off with my fingernails, but that only led to sore nails. ive tried a razor blade. but breaks off in little flakes. not to mention scratching the rims. does anyone know of anything that will take these off?
  12. is there any way of putting the extender back on without having to cut a slit in the side?
  13. if it is electrical, ie coil, spark.... shouldnt it happen all the time? the afms are connected properly. how do i check the coils? is there an easy way?
  14. Arrrrrrgh! help! i have taken it to the mechanic.... and you know the story.... the car is well behaved and cannot get the problem to occur at all. just now i changed all the spark plugs, from 6's to 7's. the car went in for a major today, and my mechanic (chapman automotive) told me that the spark plugs were ok. just to be on the safe side, if it were faulty spark plugs, i wanted a set i could changeover to. after changing them over. it drove quite nicely. but then, there it was. but this time, when it did happen, it was terrible. my car was crawling shuddering and spluttering all the way home. i had to pull over a few times. the car just wouldnt go! when i pushed the accelerator, it burbled thru the whole rev range. now when it sits, it idles nicely and then drops to the point of stall (but doesnt) and then idles nicely again! i am too worried to drive it anymore. please help! my mechanic is very far away! in this service the afm's were cleaned. so that eliminates that possibilty. please help!
  15. interested in some interior parts.... rear seat back section and bum section (in good conditon (ie are they sunfaded)? what year car are they from? rear interior trims Left and right under the quarter glass.
  16. would you sell the r32 standard airbox without the afms? if so how much? please mail me on [email protected]
  17. thanks for your info craz0. i used to live in rocky. good to see that there are more and more imports up that way.
  18. wow! thanks craz0! you sound like a man who has had a lot of experience removing steering wheels. i hope the last paragraph is not something that has happened to you! oh... by the way, how much does one of these things cost? i dont remove steering wheels that often nor do i intend on doing it for a living, so i dont want to invest big! oh, where bouts in cq are you from?
  19. I was wondering if anyone has or has had the same problem as me. im driving my car and every so often (cant pinpoint a specific rev range) it shudders. the pedal goes to floor, the engine splutters, but there is no power at all! this is only for a few seconds and then everything seems to be ok again. but sometimes it is so serious, i have to pull over. one time the catalytic converter light came on for a moment. its like a giant miss! originally i thought it was the afms, so i took them off and had them cleaned. but the problem is still there. i know i should take it to the mechanic. but was wondering iif i could fix the problem myself for the meantime. any suggestions? car is an r32 gtr.
  20. craz0 what is a steering wheel remover? how do you use it? how much does it cost? where can i get one? same goes for the harmonic balancer remover? sounds difficult. is removing the steering wheel a bigger task that what i originally thought?
  21. is that how you removed yours? i'll give it a go. thanks!
  22. hi all, i have been trying to remove my old gtr steering wheel to replace it with the new one. i have got the horn button off. and and also the locking nut. from previous experiences with other cars, pull it towards you, and it should slide straight off right? well, this one won't budge at all! do i have to apply brute force? whats wrong?
  23. for r32's this light was a factory option offered by nissan. in the r32 factory optional parts catalogue it was called the "rear finisher" and was sold under the following codes according to body colour. 5NG03~5NG07,5NG09,5NG10 the price at the time was 33,300 yen. i went to tokyo nissan last week to ask for one for my friend. but they ceased production quite a while ago in 1995.
