does anyone know if anyone in australia can have the keys cut by just supplying a code? i remember when i had my honda civic (australian delivered) all i had to do is go to a locksmith and quote a code which was stamped into the original key. and within minutes had a brand spanking new key. i had one cut at mister minit before but didnt work because it was too worn. i just got my skyline and there are numbers stamped on that key as well. i wonder if it is still the case with imported cars? Does anyone know what i'm talking about or had it done for an import?

How do I remove an R33 tail light????
AtomicBomberMan replied to sigsputnik's topic in General Maintenance
i know that the r32 ones had this sticky gluey sealant stuff around it. maybe you have to force it a little bit? -
i went to check the price of a new r32 gtr steering wheel today. they went to check the price so the called me back later. RING RING......."hello?".... "HI... THIS IS RA RA FROM RA RA RA NISSAN.....ARE YOU SITTING DOWN!?!?......." $2017...... has anyone had their steering wheel repaired? whats the finish like? does it look like a retrimmed wheel? or is it factory looking?

r32 gtr bits
AtomicBomberMan replied to Tracka's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
so you still have interior trims? good condition? how much? -
vspecv thanks for your help and advice. i wil try to get the guys at the compliance shop to help me out. i talked to them the other day, and they seem to be ok. i didnt want that ugly knob for the dash illumination and they said they would put a neat little roller thing in for me, i said i wanted to keep that seatbelt thingamyjigger and they said they will try to leave it on without cutting the plastic! in general they seem to be quite helpful. i know that nissan used to import the gtr's, but that was a while ago. are the parts still readily availabe? i have no doubt they'd be hell expensive. tlai thanks for your bit of info there.... its nice to know im not alone! heheheh

yeah, not what i want to hear, but i kind of think so too. i dont have a grade for the interior. but hey... its mine now.... i should be happy. do you think the kms are bodge? i'll probably spend a few thousand restoring it anyway. if you know of any good places to get parts... esp interior, could you please pass on the details? in brisbane gold coast would be good. thanks!

well my car, as stated before, is a 1993 32 vspec 1 gtr. its from tokyo, so hasnt spent much time in the snow. it had an auction grade of four. no accident history. and covered just over 35000kms. all this came from the auction sheet. its a completely stock standard car except for the usual breather mods, exhaust and air filters. having a look at the car the other day, i saw that the front pipe and dump pipes are still standard as it still has the heat shielding on it. it also had the whole factory body kit, including the two vents (nostrils hehe) in the front bar, nismo side skirts rear bar pods, bootlid spoiler lip, and it also had that ight on the back where the words "SKYLINE" light up! hmmm... i wont tell you the exact price i paid for it as i dont want to start a "You got ripped off thread" but lets say i paid 40+ so i dont think i saved heaps if anything. i dont think the price i paid was the cheapest in the world as you have said you can pick up what we and the general public think are good gtrs up for around 30k mark. but looking at the cars in japanese magazines (our uniqe cars equivalent) cars of the same specifications sold well over the price i paid at auction. it was actually quite difficult to find this car. to find one that was not accident damaged was almost impossible. that was my number one priority on my criteria. on one of the days of auction, there were over 40gtrs and only 1 was not accident damaged! (that was what i was told anyway) and that was the one i bought! my broker did send me heaps of examples, but all of them had replaced panels here and there and high mileage. i wanted something as standard as possible as it is a 10 year old car. and in the end, i think standard cars are worth more than modified huge horsepower headaches. hmmm... colour.....i really wanted midnight purple (which was only offered in 1994) or that blue steel/grey. but in they were very rare and in the end colour didnt matter so much to me so long it was factory. i didnt fancy a pink gtr. i didnt care about the colour because i didnt want it to be the deciding factor. i dont want to sacrafice good mechanicals for the sake of paint. its here now. and as i have said, there are slight imperfections with it. but its ok. overall im happy. there is work to be done. but i love it just the same. Silver-Arrowz are the AFM's difficult to clean? sounds nasty!

djw it is easy find out the cost of A car or THE car? as there are such great variations in the costing of r32 gtrs. from the very cheap to the very expensive. what have you done to your car to get that sort of power? is it your daily driver?
-
thanks djw. its nice to know things are going well with your car. 361kWs! wow! whats she like to drive!? must be ballistic! im sure my car will be mechanically fine too. hmmm.... another question to those who have imported cars themselves thru brokers, how do you know how much is actually paid for the car at auction? is it shown on deregistration papers? receipts?

GTR parts and wheels
AtomicBomberMan replied to a topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
are the nismo wheels the ones going for 3-3500? they are 18s? offsets and width? -
tlai909 that was just an "Let's say..." scenario. i know now that having the broker pay for anything is highly unlikely. but thats what i was trying to find out. what they will and will not. thanks to all those that "discussed" with me....
-
ppl like you crack me up too, jumping to conclusions. yes, im having a bitch..... but no one said i wasnt going to accept the consequences. i am just asking for opinions, dont know whether you've figured it out yet or not dunc but it IS an discussion forum. I dont know everything like you do mate, thats why i am asking everyone else. Maybe they have been in the same situation i am in? Maybe the broker paid for it all? Now..... lets say to get everything fixed did amount to $10000.... you paid the bill.... 2 months later find out that everybody else who had similar problems, their broker wore all the costs......... how would YOU feel then? thats why i'm ASKING now.
-
oh... thats a little bit better.... but dont forget, you have to start buying insurance one day. once you drive a turbo, you cant go back!
-
hmmm.... if you intend on spending 12000, and borrowing 2000 from a bank or even your parents, that should get you a decent r32. what about other costs? the main one being insurance? a 2 door, turbocharged (insurance favourites) IMPORTED performance car, living in victoria (close to melbourne?) i dont think you will get out of this deal cheaply (castrate is more like it if you buy the insurance under your name). we arent talking hundreds here, we are talking thousands! is 10,000 plus the 2000 you are going to borrow going to be enough?
