but you really cant tell much from pictures. the pictures looked great. but... in the flesh... theres work to be done. is a car registerable with rust?
-
i wasnt told about the rust on my bootlid. i just called my broker, there seems to be some sort of denial in his voice. if i point it out to him, who should pay then? also, what can you tell me about my car from the vin plate?
-
hi, all. if you've read some of my previous threads, some of you may already know that i have recently purchased an R32 Vspec GTR from a broker. the car is a 1993 model, with an auction grade of 4(apparently very good). i was told this information. and was also told it was in immaculate condition. this was all before i saw the auction sheet. i looked at a picture and it looked very tidy. so i had them bid for it. I won. It was a very worrying month and a half and yesterday i finally saw the car in the flesh. in general, the car seemed to be in perfect working order. however, there are some, to some people they may think petty, but because i paid such a high price for this car, things which just.... just.... piss me off! i'm a pretty picky bastard. every nook and cranny has to be perfect! i know it is a 10 year old car. but there are some things like, a little bit of rust on the bootlid. the footrest is missing. the dash around the vents is starting to peel. the rear interior trims have bubbled and peeled, the steering wheel is starting to peel. i know that most of these are cosmetic, and like i said im not expecting a perfect car. but things like rust missing parts (footrest) who should pay for these things? is it my problem? i havent fully paid for this car yet. but i have paid for the majority of it. should i ask for these things to be fixed before i pay the rest? these little faults are small. but the golden rule in life is that "if it has a set of tits or a set of wheels, its going to be expensive give you trouble!" these little faults cost money. what should i do!?

hi andrew, nice ride. congrats on your new car. i too bought an r32 gtr. it arrived on the docks yesterday. Valentines day! My new baby! i wont get it for another 1-2 weeks yet. did you get yours thru a broker? did you end up saving much? what did you pay in broking fees? have you seen your car yet? was the auction grading system accurate? i bought a 1993 r32 gtr vspec with an auction grade of 4. no accident totally stock except for breathing mods and 35000 on the clock. i dont think i really saved any money at all as i did pay big money for it. judging by the photos its a really nice car. but they can look totally different in the flesh. what sort of gurantee did your broker offer? -

are there many people out there with brake calipers with peeling and cracking paint? where is the brembo distributor in australia? can they repaint them and not lose the brembo writing? what would it cost? how long does it take? what are the biggest rotors that can fit onto this caliper without having to change dogbones etc?

r32 gtr compliancing
AtomicBomberMan replied to AtomicBomberMan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
gtr ken, yeah i know that the 550 is for the set. for that price he will prolly give me Nankangs or Gold coin or something. i do want something sporty. i was thinking 235/35 17's. at the moment the rims are 17x8 if i remember correctly. i am thinking of a set of volks later on. does anyone know if 235/45 17's will fit on a 17x9 inch rim? what is the best offset for an r32 gtr? i was thinking 17x9j +22. -
r32 gtr compliancing
AtomicBomberMan replied to AtomicBomberMan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
r32 gtr, the 3800 dollars that you pay for a compliance plate, does this include the things that need to be done? or is that just for the plate, and the other things on top? what do the other things roughly cost? where do you get your car serviced? i got my car thru a broker and in the price he has set aside 550 dollars for tyres. he said if i wanted anything special that 550 would go towards those tyres. i have narrowed it down to a few brands and models. please tell me what you think. top of the list down. Bridgestone s03 $297 (s02 top the list but apparently no longer available in a 235/45 17 (for vspec rims) ) dunlop fm901 $330, and yokohama advan neova. -

r32 gtr compliancing
AtomicBomberMan replied to AtomicBomberMan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
hi r32. the company doing the compliancing for my car is THE HOUSE OF AUTOSTYLING (THOAS). do you know of them? are they ok? thanks in advance -
i would just like to ask you a couple of questions regarding the r32 vspecs. first of all, does anyone know of any good website links that are related to r32 gtrs and vspecs?? i was wondering, what the differences were between the vspec I and vspec II. if you download the video from this site, http://www.gtrcentral.com/movies/data/gtr/...od_shootout.mpg you will see that the vspec II leaves them for dead. in the drag race at the beginning of the video, you will notice that the vspec 2 on the left side of the screen starts late and crosses the finish line long before normal gtr and vspec I (a few thousandths of a second between the gtr and vspec I). i know that one difference of the vspec I and II is the size of the rims and tyres. the vspec 2 having wider tyres and rims. however, I dont see how this could make the vspec II that much faster. of all things, it should make the car slower! i have asked many ppl the same question, they all say the only difference is the wheel and tyre package. is this true? after watching that video, i am lead to believe there has got to be greater differences in the two.

i walked in with a cheque to buy that n1gtr. drove it down to my mechanic, and placed it on the hoist. it had marks indicating that it had been on a jig. cars dont go on jigs unless they have been in something major. the gearbox mounts have also gone. the underbody is also soooooo clean..... you can put your tongue on it. you put the rest together......

r32 gtr compliancing
AtomicBomberMan replied to AtomicBomberMan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
ylwgtr! that looks heeeeeeaps better than the rubbish they are fitting to them now! i would love to fit something similar or exactly the same to what you have on your car! would it be too much trouble to get the details of how to wire it all up? do you know if the 32 has any of those blanks you were talking about? i havent taken delivery of the car yet. thanks in advance! -
hi just wonderinng what was involved in the compliancing process as my car is arriving next week. i know that the seatbelts are changed. anyone know why we cant keep that seat belt reacher outerer thingamy jigger that stops you having to dislocate your shoulder to reach the seat belt and also stops the seat from wearing?? apparently imported gtr's need an ugly brake light fitted (double sided taped) in the rear windscreen? surely there is something more permanent an better looking? what were the australian delivered gtr's fitted with? side indicators on the front quarters need to be fitted right? does that mean they gotta punch holes into the quarters? whats with that instrument cluster dimmer thing? is that ugly knob the only one thats avaliable? does it need to be done? if there wasnt one fitted before it came to australia, i would assume that is set on its greatest intensity anyway! why would you need to turn it down! its not as if the dimmer is ging to make a difference when you are doing the dirty in the back seat! what else needs to be fitted and or modified? my car is arriving next week from japan. is there anything i should keep or ask to have done? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, i have been to the caryards and have checked out all the GTRs for sale in Bribane. I have noticed that almost 99.999% of the ones that were freshly imported from Japan (ie never owned here in australia and still in caryards) did not come with window tint. As a result, the headrest area on the rear seats near the parcel shelf were VERY sunfaded (almost white) has any other R32 skyline owners had similar problems? how did you rectify this problem? i asked nissan how much it would cost to buy new skin for the rear seat, and they said that they didnt sell just the skin for this car (they do for pulsars and maximas) and the whole piece of foam was about 6-8000 dollars! howly cow! I dont really want to get it retrimmed unless they can make it look exactly standard. do retrimmed seats look factory? who can do it in brisbane? what about cigarette burns on the front seats? anyway of getting rid of them? and a skyline GTR steering wheel? can they be retrimmed to look like the standard item? i really dont want any non standard items on my GTR. any recommendations as to where i should go and who to talk to in brisbane? any information or help on how to make the interior look new would be greatly appreciated.
